That IS FAST! Even though men lose faster than women...(I lose about 10/month)

ketosis is awesome that way...week 1 is a landslide!! After that, average weight loss falls to about 2-2.5lb/wk for women and 3-4/week for men. And if you want a structured program, I have had very good experience with Ideal Protein. (Not meant to be a marketing plug, it just works very well for me!) Request/suggestion for…

Your first 3 days will be the hardest until your body can establish ketosis. After that, keep your exercise low-key, especially for the first month or more - you'll find yourself out of breath anyways. (google "neoglucogenesis" to discover how intense exercise can affect your muscles adversely when you're in ketosis.)

Eggs and eggwhites are you new best friend for low-cal protein. Could also look into some protein powder if you do shakes at all Oh, I forgot cottage cheese and liberte greek yogurt!

You may be right in that you've probably never noticed them before. When I get continual cravings for anything, at any time, I have to make sure that I'm eating both salad and veggies at my noon and evening meals. That way I'm too full to really think about eating anything. Otherwise, like sdkyne, make sure you have one of…

Hear hear! This is a fantastic answer

I am 5'3" and my BMI suggests that I have to be <140 lbs to even be "normal weight" or out of the "obese" catagory. So I went down to 133 and although I felt pretty good about myself, my husband and BFF's were telling me I looked too skinny. Lowest recommended weight was 115lbs - I havent been that since I was 14!! Unless…

Thank you thank you! Those both sound fantastic and I have the ingredients for both!!

My coach measures the following: Bust Under-bust (which I call ribs, but really meaures that back fat) Waist at belly button Hips/belly Butt Top of thigh Skinny part of arm above bicep (optional) Neck (optional)

BTW - the other week I did a lot of exercise and I lost only 1.2 lb. I was disappointed because usually 2 to 2.5 each week. ...until my coach pulled out the measuring tape - I that week alone, I lost a combined total of 4.5 inches!! 1" each on bust, ribs, hips, and .5" on waist and each thigh Did I mention that I really…

So I see this IP/exercise topic a lot... It seems to me that if I exercised more in the first place, I wouldn't be in a situation where I was overweight and needed a strict program like Ideal Protein, because I would be losing my weight through standard diet and exercise! Thoughts? (and yeah, although I've increased my…

You're not forcing her to run - you gave her an incentive and she TOOK it!! I define a bribe as "payment up front with an expectation of something to be done" - this is absolutely no different than paying your kids when they complete certain chores. I say good for you - and I hope she continues!

Big mac salad - sounds good!! My DH is a burger FREAK but eating them plain is not so awesome :( think I'll have to invest in some of that walden farms 1000 isles. (It was pretty yucky back in 2010, encouraged to hear they have improved their recipes)

yup - 1 beer is enough to kick your body out of ketosis. After a binge or whole day of eating carbs it takes approximately 3 daysto get your body back into that fat-burning metabolism. That's the best thing about this diet for me, consequences of cheating are immediate and severe. (So I just don't do it)

don't know about sites re: low-carb info, but there are some fantastic low-carb recipes on Pinterest!!

For a general day, my energy levels are pretty good. but Zumba? No way I would be able to keep up while in Phase 1, even though I love them while not on the program. High energy or aerobic workouts while on Phase 1 are definitely not recommended by most coaches. Strength training or non-aerobic exercise is preferred, and…

My coach isn't entirely thrilled with me, but if I start getting low, sometimes I will take half-doses of the multivitamin or the cal/mag to help spread them out. I have it arranged now so that I usually only have to replace 1 bottles of something different every week. That $20/week gets averaged into the weekly costs and…

I didn't pay too much attention, if it was non-restricted I considered myself good. After being on the program for about 3 months and the possibility of getting bored with my journalling and possibly hitting a plateau, I joined MFP and started logging in everything. (I love the app too, helps me stay motivated even when I…

When I started this program (for the first time) in 2010 there were SO MANY FEWER options!! Back then, for soup options, there was mushroom, tomato and leek -- leek was the best! If you have a bunch of envelopes left over, consider adding extra veggies like mushrooms, brocolli, cauliflower, etc to add flavour. I LOVE the…

Oh, and once you start getting a bit closer to your goal weight, it might be worth considering a session with an image consultant to help determine exactly what your body shape is, and what is especially flattering for your shape and your own sense of style. Sometimes our BFF don't have the same sense of style or trouble…

Value Village (or Salvation Army, or thrift stores) all the way!! I hate paying regular price for clothes that will be too large for me in a month or two. Although, I gotta tell you, once you really start seeing your body shape change, it's sure nice dressing to SHOW OFF certain curves instead of dressing to HIDE certain…

I know I do - I've experienced anxiety about all those things at one time or another...and I'm sure some other ones that I couldn't think of off the top of my head.

I'm 5'3" and 40 years old. I feel pretty fantastic between 130-135 and this puts me in a size 6-10 depending on brand. (Any lighter than that, I get told I look like a bobble-head... I have a round face naturally.)

I understand that lots of people get freaked out when they lose weight [especially if it's quite quickly] for some of the following reasons: - their friends or partner starts trying to sabotage them, gets jealous of their new look, tells them "that's enough now" - we start to realize we actually have to deal with flirty…

Absolutely - biggest reasons I moved over from using the LIVESTRONG My Plate! 1) Ideal Protein everything (except Omega 3 capsules) is already in the databank 2) I can print out for the whole week! I even highlight my daily carb and fiber totals to make it easier for her to review

ooh, I never thought about those...good ideas! Almond extract would be nice in vanilla drink too... I blended 6 raspberries into my Pina Colada the other day and although my coach kind of gave me crap over it, my carbs were still well within range for the day and it totally gave me the flavour injection I desperately…

At about 10 lbs/month, time goes by SO quickly on IP. It's nice not getting on the scale weekly and having my [WW coach] condescendingly try to convince me that I'm "still heading the right direction' when I only see a half-pound loss. There really is no halfway with IP - it's go big or go home. It's strict, but actually…

Hi, my name is Cindi. This is my second go-round with IP. I love the program, but even though I'm 25 lbs down and have another 25 lbs to go, I can see that I will need more support when I go into maintenance phase later this year.
