"Forks Over Knives" is AWESOME We watched it years ago, and I've been trying to get my DH to move to a meatless meal even once a week and he won't have any of it! Guess who had a CT scan on his spine on Tuesday where they discovered a small spot on his lung? He is quitting smoking right now and we are moving to a meatless…

Snacking IS hard. When in Phase 1, gum and tea were my standbys. Now in Phase 4, I still struggle with it, but I HAVE to get a handle on it for this to not become a problem the rest of my life. Speaking of long term habits, many people face being overweight not just as individuals, but as an entire family... do your best…

At our house, we do a lot of stirfry and/or grilling. DH has learned to grill every veggie under the sun, God bless him. So I eat the meat and veggies, he eats the meat and carb-heavy side dishes. If I make our dishes with lots of extra veggies and less sauces, I can eat just the "good stuff" and it's easy to add a pot of…

Since I don't have a whole family to feed (just me and DH), my household grocery costs dropped almost 30% Otherwise, the cost is justified by my scale down down! That being said, if I have a very tight week/month to deal with $, I will switch out my lunch package with a portion of protein (phase 2) about every other day.

Sometimes I think groups go through lulls, but I miss seeing new discussion topics in this group too. I'm opinionated, but im not mean or judgemental...I hate feeling like my comment is the "kiss of death" on every thread.

I've been here before - professional help was the best (and probably the only) thing that could help me get out of that cycle.

You never realize how good turnip tastes until 3-6 months away from potatoes...

Lots of people do actually - make sure you are getting some salt in your diet and lots of water. I have lost 8-10lbs/month on this diet. I like that unlike some other programs I will one day be able to eat "normal" food again and find that the process of weight loss really encourages me to develop great habits of eating…

Plateaus suck... Wandering eyes... make sure you are getting lots of variety!! Both with your IP foods and your meat and veggie choices. That might help. Just remember that ketosis isn't something to play with - it's a "go big or go home" kind of thing. Remind yourself how much you love seeing that scale go down each week.…

I get told that I don't look my age. Now weight ages a person visually, so losing weight to be slim totally helps. For everything else I can only attribute (if there's any truth in their comments) to the following factors: - no smoking - no drugs - social drinking only - minimal tanning (all in all, some would say a boring…

Hi Tara, like SusanRN2b I have also lost an average of 8-10/month and am now starting Phase 3 I am discovering that IP works so well that it seems like people tend to drop out of this group after only a few months!! :-(

I am 5'3" and my BMI says that I "should be" between 115-135. I am currently sitting at about 144 and quite comfortable with that for now. I "feel"...good...attractive. I like how I feel like I can walk faster; how I can do up my ski boots without holding my breath while I struggle to reach that far down. I love that I've…

One other thing - youngsters tend to show A LOT of skin - show it off, but if you can keep most of it covered up, you'll stay "age appropriate" Re-pinned this on Pinterest lately "Your clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman, and loose enough to show you're a lady" - Marilyn Munroe

I think the trick to looking good in an age appropriate way comes with a place of maturity. (A great reason why I joined THIS group instead of 40+ only or ladies only) And by that, I mean this - I will attempt to explain. When I was in my 20's, my mindset was this "looking good totally meant looking sexy" At this stage in…

I love seein thise numbers go DOWN!! Makes me feel like I'm winning... so easy to just quit when I feel like I'm trying and it "doesnt make a difference"

Just finished 5+ months on a ketosis-based diet called Ideal Protein and moving into maintenance phase. Going to need suuport more than ever... joined this particular group for lots of reasons...thanks!

Going to phase three in the next few days....kinda scared actually. Like you, once I'm "allowed" to start eating carbs again they seem to come back with a vengence!!

This! ^^

As you lose weight, you'll hate the photographs less. Also, if others are behind the shutter, you'll look better if you pose than if you make them snap something random...

love what jackjackattck has posted above!

Start with breakfast - that way your body has time to burn them up throughout the whole day. Focus on Whole Grains...

I feel your pain - been fighting the same 1 lb for the last month!! Had to really buckle down this week and we'll see what happens at weigh in on Wednesday. Part of me wants to quit and say "fine - I like being this weight!" but the other part really wants to actually lost that last 5-10 lbs to hit my goal weight :P
-
my only caution is that unless you're in ketosis (a fat-burning metabolic state) you need carbs for energy. Ketosis is kind of an all or nothing thing and requires that you only consume 25-40g of Net Carbs (grams carbs minus grams fiber) each day. Otherwise it can be very hard on your body. (btw - when I'm in ketosis…

I suggest that you take all your daily supplements and save them in the system as a new "Meal" - that way you only have to click once (in the quick tool i believe) to add them all for the day :)

so jealous, Melissa! I used to binge eat too. Actually ended going for counselling with an office who specialized in eating disorders, worked through a lot of issues about love, father/daughter relationships, self image, body dysmorphia, and more. (so much fun...) Best tips from above comments: 1) eat regular meals (adding…

if you have any soup left that you don't want to waste, try adding lots of steamed veggies to them. And watch that you don't overheat the protein, it almost seems to curdle... :P

1) Your first 3 days will be the hardest until your body can establish ketosis. 2) Keep your exercise low-key, especially for the first month or more - you'll find yourself out of breath anyways. 3) VARIETY - both in your IP foods and in your daily vegetables! Variety will set you up for good habits when you're all done!

LMAO - you guys are killin' me!!

Ideal Protein - a ketosis based weight-loss program. Protocol perscribes 3 pre-packaged "meals" each day, client provides additional salad and/or veggies for lunch and eats store-bought protein and more salad/veggies at dinner. https://www.idealprotein.com/ca/home Thing I like - maintenance involves a gradual…
