I use all three at the gym but I tend to alternate when I do them, the resistance on them and incline on the treadmill/eliptical. It keeps me from getting too bored and also challenges my muscles since the different inclines on the treadmill/eliptical make some muscles work harder.

I think Quiet Smile hit the nail on the head! If you can want it and can fit it in your calorie limit for the day, the enjoy it. If you can't be gracious, thank them for the gift and find someone who can enjoy it and pass it on. If you turn down their gift you are robbing them of their joy of sharing.

40 lbs in 2 months is a lot of weight to los really fast. Does your surgeon's office not have a nutritionis/excercise physiologist to help you create a plan to help you get to your goal? or are you just wanting to do it faster then they are suggesting?
