  • If you were naturally quite fit, you don't need tools. You did fine all your life without it. MFP is not making you happy. That's OK. Just focus on listening to your body and nourishing yourself.
  • Things that helped me: 1. What's the easiest healthy change you can do right now? If it's easy you will stick to it. Example: I used to skip breakfast and get to work hungry and buy a 500 calorie muffin and still be hungry. Instead, I eat a huge, satisfying meal at home around 300 calories. Little by little you learn to…
  • I feel like such a flake! (but not really and you'll see why) I did SL ONCE, and I am now abandoning it. I was waiting for almost two months to start SL (I had various interruptions). So Monday I finally began. My DH came along and he saw a small group with a trainer doing a special program called Strong IV Life. It's a…
  • Thanks so much for taking the time to help me!
  • Hi, can I join in this thread? I started yesterday. I just did the basic starting weights. Squats were easy, form was good. But I have some questions coming up about these - Bench- never done it before. Got stuck and a nice muscle man had to come to my rescue. I tried the "roll of shame" but that scared me a little. The…
  • Speaking of husbands- mine is trying to talk me out of this program. 1. He is concerned that I might hurt myself. I am going at it alone, no spotters. But if I take it slow and educate myself on proper form, I should be OK, no? (Review SL again and again and post form check videos....) 2. We started trying to grow our…
  • Also I was using this idea at some point- Why should other people dictate your treats and snacks? You can 'save' your calories for something really good that you personally really love, and then truly indulge. It'll be something you chose to have, something you planned for and can have without guilt. When you see free food…
  • Pick and choose That's my mantra when an eating pattern is problematic. Just have free treats that are special. Make sure you are eating filling foods so the hunger doesn't trip you.
  • I don't know what Phen is, but 1 week is not an indicator. Give it some time.

  • No Parmesan except I sprinkled a tiny bit. The sauce was not heavy. I did feel some oiliness, not sure how much.
  • Thanks! Yeah I know pasta is hefty, that's why my 500 calorie estimate seemed wrong to me. Although it was indeed very light and not huge at all. I decided to choose a similarly named entry that was 800 cal, just to be on the safe side.
  • I go through self sabotage spells when I am stressed. But what I learned to do is start asking myself a bunch of hard hitting questions until I realize what it is that I'm trying to escape from with food. I now can happily say I haven't had more than 2-3 days of ruin before I get back to it. You learn to become a very…
  • What do you mean by "walked it out"?
  • ^ THIS I was told this once that eating too much (and subsequently weight gain) is a symptom and you can't fix a symptom. The woman who told me this asked me why I thought I was over weight and I had no clue. Years down the road I started to see her point, and learned I had a lot of 'whys' and I bust through them one by…
  • 1. Plateau is 6-8 weeks 2. You are close to goal. Your weight loss will be slower now. I an similar stats and happy with 1lbs a month. If you are accurate and know your TDEE, you will lose weight. If your plateau doesn't break after 8 weeks, possible you are not in deficit.
  • Just a bump in the road! You sound very strong, and you know, life happens. Once you get your groove back it'll be really worth it, even jump starting yourself is hard at first.
  • I am out of witty ideas after reading all responses. But I too am low maintenance. Sometimes I post stuff I've been thinking about. Add me!
  • Ha ha! People suggest fish to my vegetarian husband too and we also make this comment. However, some vegetarians actually do eat fish. They have their reasons, I guess.
  • FYI - getting over your habit is a process that can take time so be ready to slowly get better at it. These are also helpful ideas: 1. I don't keep trigger foods in the house but enjoy a serving when I feel like it (at gatherings or out and about). 2. If I feel like I'm slipping up, I take a moment to analyze what happened…
  • Yeah, you know I noticed that I started to eat better things lately and my bulch really eased off. It could be the bread. Hmmmm
  • I like 6.5 MPH if I'm in shape.
  • Don't you hate that! I too saw a muffin that said 2 servings. It's ONE freakin muffin! What a bunch of lying scumbags.
  • The whole- 'I need to buy new clothes knowing I'll have to do that again after another loss'. My DH is in his 3rd round of denim because everything's too big. It's really a money draining machine. I only had to do it once since I had less to lose. My negative is that my face got really narrow and people said I looked…
  • Eat slowly and focus on the conversation. Don't feel obligated to eat all you can eat just because HE wanted to go there and it's pricey. Pick and choose. Sacrifice in favor of stuff that's really worth it to you.
  • Also painting your nails, if you're into that. Sometimes it helps to "pre" deal with your stress. If you know you have stuff coming up, having a game plan in advance is a sure way to decrease the exposure to stress in the first place.
  • My dad loves this! And me too!!! But we typically split it between 5-6 of us. It's still a lot, though I think we never finished one entirely.
  • Singing! I also devised a personal mantra that I repeat when I get all worked up about something. I really like to use the term 'let go'. Deep breaths, relaxing when you exhale. Sound so trivial, but works for me.
  • When I try to eat out within reason, I end up hungry. I just limit the frequency because there's just no way around it for me. One time I went to Hillstone's and ordered a fish fillet with some side veggies. The portion was probably 6-7oz, and when I put that type of fish into point plus it came out as 22 points! Nearly a…
  • I worked full time while pursuing both BA and MBA. It was hard to be healthy but I managed. Some tips- If you can cook healthy and pack your healthy snacks that really helps. For eating out, I like to survey the area and have a short list of healthy food options when I'm in or around campus. As for exercise, manage your…
