I don't go over my goal calories hardly ever. But the few times I did I was still far from my maintenance calories, so I didn't sweat it. In your shoes I'd try to fit in a decent workout and then have a really light dinner. Like a salad and a protein shake. I'd aim for filling on as few calories as possible.

Hey there! I have four kids and it is my second oldest who has SN - also autism. He's almost 8 (so hard to believe!!). Of course I love all my children, but I have to confess that it is my autistic kiddo that really inspires me and pushes me to work hard and reach my health goals. I have to be ready and able to keep up…

I usually gain a couple pounds until it is over. This last time though I lost three pounds during TOM week. Crazy!

Trying to demonstrate to my three-year-old what skipping was and finding out I couldn't do it anymore. I literally could not do it. It was sobering.

Mine was going on 4 weeks. I upped my calories - I had been maintaining a 1000 to 1200 daily deficit but went to just a 400 a day deficit. Within a couple days I dropped 2.5 pounds! After another week I dropped another pound (that was this morning actually!). Now I'm going to slowly start increasing my deficit again back…

Firstly, congratulations on your baby! Breastfeeding will burn/require an extra 500-600 calories a day. That is if you are exclusively nursing. If you are supplementing with formula that number will be less. Honestly, if I were in your shoes I would eat at maintenance and enjoy the extra calorie burn you are getting from…

You're right. A woman of 5'11" and 175 who exercises just three times a week needs around 2200 calories a day to maintain her weight. You are tall and active, therefore your body needs more to function.

I really enjoy keeping track. I do it via my iPhone which is quick, easy and convienent. If I had to do it only through the computer I'd feel more burdened - I don't find the online diary to be as user friendly. Keeping track of everything makes me totally feel in control, which actually helps me feel like I have more…

I regularly burn 1k+ calories when I go to the gym. I'm there a minimum of 60 minutes, usually 90 (the time limit max on the childcare room). I'll do 30 min on the elliptical (highest resistance with my heartrate at 80% the whole time), 15 minutes on rowing, 20 hill course on bike, then cycle through several weight…

I like Newman's Own honey flax bran flakes.

I don't have any of the sneaker types, but I have several pairs of Fit-Flops and Shape-Ups flip flops. When I got my first pair I could definitely feel some 'burn' in leg muscles that I usually didn't notice and after my first few long days in them the backs of my legs from calves to butt could felt fatigued in a way that…

Thanks, everyone! I have a great NSV too - when at the pool I would avoid coming out of the deep end via that little ladder thing because in the past I struggled so much to pull myself up, so instead I would walk out of the shallow end (it's a zero-entry pool). Well a few days ago my toddler scooted himself right…

bananas. And the last time I had cantaloupe I had a similar reaction, so I hesitate to try it again. I avoid kiwis because they are linked to bananas as far as allergies go.

Wooo! That's so awesome! Good for you! :)

I was a total stress-eater. I didn't even realize it until I began this weightloss journey and kept finding myself drawn to the kitchen when I was irritated and overwhelmed with my kids. These days if I find myself feeling that way my main desire is to exercise. I'll go to the gym (put the kids in the childcare…

I did WW from January (when I started this weightloss journey) to March. I lost well and consistently on the plan. But when I found MFP in late February I started tracking calories too and didn't see any difference between the two programs over all -- and MFP is free. :) I think in the LONG run it's better to be accustomed…

Yes! I've noticed a fat bulge on one butt cheek that the other side does not have, meanwhile on the opposite side I have a ridge of fat on the back of my thigh. So weird.
-
How do you change your numbers in MFP? I can't find it!

I agree. My diet is far from perfect, but I don't eat junky junk anymore. A few weekends ago my husband picked up donuts in the morning (the kids had been begging for months... "how come we never have donuts anymore?" ) and I thought I'd go ahead and have one. I ate HALF of one donut (a cake style one with icing)…

You don't have to use your extra 49 points first. I did WW online the first three months of the year and online you can set it to pull your "overage" points either from that extra 49 or from Activity Points - it doesn't matter. They are both "freebies" either way, consider them the same. I lost well on WW, but when my…

Good for you! I wish you all the best with your healing and recovery! :flowerforyou: As for the pain... how comparable is it to a c-section? I've had four c-sections and my tummy is ruined. I know it will never look decent without surgery to repair it.... I'm just not sure how much it matters to me yet.

I completely agree 100%!! I've done exactly this just recently! I was stuck at 232 for two weeks. Day in, day out I was 232 every single day. I was working out a lot, drinking all the water, eating well, yadda yadda... finally I upped my calories by 300 and stopped the cardio and in the last two days I've lost two pounds!!…

Whooohoooo for you!!

I wear a BodyMedia Fit (same as BodyBugg) and I also wear a HRM during workouts. The HRM (Polar ft7) indicates a MUCH higher calorie burn than the BodyMedia Fit does. I still haven't decided which to trust more.
-
I think you do burn more in hot weather. My husband wears a HRM when he mows the lawn and on the days he is mowing in the afternoon (rather than morning or evening) he burns about TWICE the calories.
-
I wear a HRM for workouts (Polar ft7) and I regularly burn an average of 10 calories per minute on the elliptical. Of course your milage may vary :) but it's not unlikely you do burn 300 for a half hour.

I think the second number, the one after the / is what MFP has set as your "target" for that macronutrient. My question - how can I change what MFP has set for my targets?
-
The start of all my weight gain happened when I began birth control pills - Ortho for me. It was a steady increase for 3 years until I got off it to get pg...then just added to the weight from there!
-
Your belly looks a lot trimmer! Congrats and keep up the great work! ;D

The article about fiber that is linked in that calorie article is really interesting too. :)
