Nonsense, think about it! Burn 1200 cals at the gym, go home, shower, eat 1200 calories! Why go to the gym, your net calories for weight loss should be less than the calories burned during excercise. Eat back calories burned when you are maintaining your weight. If you eat back everything you burn then you won't lose.…

I don't set mine back, but may dip into them if I need to. Can't see the point of burning calories then eating them !! If that's the case I can't see the point in burning them !!!

I'm doing the great south run on the 30/10 and the mini great south run on the 29/10, good luck with your run!

Done x good luck!

@sarahpreece blimey! 1200 cals! What did you do?

I hadn't even thought it affecting my appetite, but actually I am hungry!! Having had cereal breakfast and crackers and pate for lunch, I've just had to have another bowl of cereals which means a run out tonight for 45 mins - 1 hr. I actually think it tastes good!!
-
Exactly what I'm doing x

There are many types available. All f them monitor your heart rate, then based on your weight, heigh, age and heart rate at rest, they calculate your calorie burn

Many congrats, that's a great time, well done!!!

Let's be honest, what's the point of burning calories if you are going to eat them back. Since 00001AD to lose weight you have to expend more calories than you eat. If all you are going to do is eat them back then there's no point in expending them!!! Eating them back is only an issue when you start on a weight maintenance…

Don't be sucked in by all the hype surrounding iPhone. I've had both and my honest opinion is, for a phone - android, for a gadget - iPhone. The iPhone 3GS is a much better device than the iPhone 4, I had one of those as well!!

I just bought a polar f7 from eBay for £41 it's great and is a good motivator as you watch the calories loss number go up as you exercise.

Amazing, well done buddy!

The smile says more than the pictures! You look great and so much happier! Well done!

It certainly doesn't have to be. I am a truck driver. I use a slow cooker in my truck and eat casseroles and stews, all made with fresh ingredients. Chicken, beef, sausages etc etc. You don't need expensive meat as cooking it slowly makes it lovely, tender and tasty. I buy casserole vegetables, throw it all in a bag and it…

weightwatchers (warburtons) malted danish or grained bread, its delicious and low in calories.

I know before i start that many will disagree but what is the point in eating back all your calories? You may as well not be doing the excercise!! You have to output in calories, more than you input!! If your body needs a daily calorific intake of 1200 and you add 500, but then eat 1700, you have achieved nothing, the net…

A cautionary tale about measuring after workouts! - My wife and I went to the gym one morning but on the way had to drop our car off at the garage and then walk to the gym. We took a short cut across a playing field and had to squeeze through a small gap in a fnece into the gym. I just managed to get through. After a good…

I think you'll find its factored in by the MFP sofware

nonsense, the eliptical is a different workout completely, its like saying cycling has less impact on your joints than jogging on a treadmill.

Theres a good chance it isnt shin splints. They usualy occur with prolonged excercise without warming up or stretching. It is more likely that your muscles have been given a bit of a 'shock'!! Rest is the best thing, and if you can, apply some ice packs to the affected areas. Im sure you will be fine. Jeff
