I'm out. Too much assuming for me. You know what assuming does, right? I'm am a gambling man though so here's my bet: You're underestimating the amount of calories you're eating. Good luck moving forward.

the fitbit is great. when you connect it to MFP, it will help you adjust your eating to consistently hit your calorie goals. I think figuring out your BMR is a good place to start. That's the amount of calories you burn doing nothing at all. That's a good number to shoot for when setting your calorie goals. You'll be…

If you're working out 3 times a week, I would go with Lightly Active instead of Sedentary. I know you don't want to over eat. But you also don't want to starve yourself. Yes you should eat back whatever calories you burn through working out so your net calories is 1520 1200 calories is really low for many of the people who…

Not really big on compromise? My wife is not as gung-ho for fitness as I am. She eats better and is more active than I am so why should she be? She has good genes. Everyone in her family lives to be really old farts. Me, not so much. My dad died at 64. His dad died at 62. Genetics not on my side. So we have different…

I'm going to start doing butterfly type weight exercises to fill out my chest.

log your food intake for a few days. That will help paint a better picture.

Lots and lots of fast food.

I'm just starting to research dead lifting as well. Start light, get the form correct. Lots of help on google and youtube.

What about going back to what worked: diet and cardio. I understand that weight training is a great way to encourage the body to take calories from fat and not muscle. So maybe dial back the weight training? Maybe that's a sensible place to start is to go back to what was working.

You've lost 27 pounds! That's awesome. Go to YouTube and search for how big 5 pounds of fat is. 27 pounds is 3 or 4 newborn babies!!! Congrats!!! Stay motivated by reminding yourself why you're doing this. It's not just a number on a scale. What's the real win for getting fit for you?

60 pounds is awesome!!! Keep doing what you're doing. Eating sensibly, being more active, etc.

Hard to say what's not going right. Any chance you might open up your food diary?

funny commercial but I don't get the tag line "we're not a gym, we're planet fitness" How is that not a gym?

If I were in the market now, I would wait. Or buy something cheap in the short term. it seems like there are some pretty exciting products coming from the likes of Apple and Samsung that should have a big impact in the fitness world.

Go to the supermarket and buy the fixings for a salad. My daily lunch salad is huge, and includes Kale, Baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, chicken, some fresh fruit, and maybe a tablespoon of lite dressing. Typically comes in around 350 calories. If I skipped the chicken it would be closer to 100-150 calories.…

All I'm going to add here is that YouTube is full of surgeries gone bad. If you choose to go the surgery route. Choose your surgeon very carefully.

I find it really helps to think about how the day is gonna go. If I know I'm spending time with friends or family later int he day. I'll eat less for breakfast and lunch. If I know I'll be doing a marathon driving session. I'll try to avoid vending machines and convenience store snacks. And kathie and I will pack…

I keep reminding myself why I'm doing this. It's not just for lower numbers on the scale or to look better in the mirror. If I die at the same age my dad (and his dad) did. I'll barely live to see my son turn 30. That's not acceptable. That's why I do this.
-
Awesome!
-
I agree, it's hard to give you ideas to right the ship when you won't give us your current status.
-
The key is to keep reminding yourself why you want this. I don't care about the way I look. I don't care about impressing others. What I care about is my family. If I die at the same age my dad and his dad did, I'll barely live long enough to see my boy turn 30. That's no acceptable. That's my inspiration.

My first attempt at MFP I tried the 1200 net calories per day and stalled out quickly. I'm doing 1700 net calories per day now and doing better.
-
I like the TDEE - 25% method. But that's just what's working for me. I tried the 1200 calories method and completely stalled out.

I would say eat until your'e full. Don't over eat. Go with that for a while and see how you're body reacts.

running/walking is gonna workout those calves. Maybe try a different cardio routine. Maybe a rowing machine?

I think some people just tend to be obsessive people. Maybe it's time find something else to obsess over that isn't fitness related? Find a hobby, try to acquire a new skill, volunteer at an old folks home.

There are lots of things to consider. Here's where my thought process would begin. is 2200 calories now too aggressive or not aggressive enough? 1. I'm sure you know about starvation mode. Is your body simply done giving up the calories until you give it more to work with? 2. Is your body just getting more efficient? You're…
