I like walking a lot. But it's hard on my knees and ankles. So I spend more time on the rowing machine these. Keep on walking!

LOL +1 Seriously, before federal sugar limits are established. I would prefer to see gov't use farm subsidies to encourage farms to go organic / sustainable.

Liposuction? J/K Just keep doing what you're doing.

Consistency over the long haul matters far more than the little day to day ups and downs.

Because they love you and they want you to love you as much as they do. They don't realize that wanting to be fit isn't always equal to hating yourself.
-
Ever watch those biggest loser shows? They eat more than 1200 calories. Probably closer to 1800 - 2000. And they workout.. ALL DAY LONG They are closely supervised by a team of trainers, doctors, nutritionists, dietitians and support staff. Do you want it that bad?

Just because TDEE accounts for exercise doesn't mean that TDEE is the bottom limit for calorie deficit. It also doesn't mean that he can't up his exercise level. There's room here to eat less and exercise more I think.
-
Well your TDEE is somewhere in the neighborhood of 3500 calories per day. So what's 75% of that? 2600 calories plus or minus? That sound like a pretty reasonable number to begin eating better. 1400 is really aggressive. if you ate 2600 calories a day and did 1000 calories worth of exercising that would get you down to a…

my, bad, I thought the OP was asking a question. (I thought I saw a question mark)

The part of this that's interesting is how we as a culture have become more comfortable putting expectations on girlfriends and boyfriends as if they are husbands and wives. They aren't. The whole point of not getting married is to lower the commitment and expectation level.

It's like the kids who get trophies just for showing up. Who needs that? MFP has that little thing that says it you eat like this for five weeks: That's their version of an "attaboy" IMO

inaccurate logging would be my first guess too. there are some interesting videos on youtube of people logging their supposed calories only to find out that in reality they were only tracking 2/3 to 1/2 of the calories they were actually eating. This is why a food scale is so important.
-
there are lots of granola type bars that are exactly 100 calories per bar. Easy to track. small bag of pretzels is 100 to 150 calories. LIttle Debby Nutty buddy bars are 100 calories a piece. Twix minis

Binging can be a consequence of not eating enough. So if you're not hungry , don't eat. But if you find yourself binging regularly; then it's time to ask yourself if feeling full is physical or mental.
-
I think the scale is helpful to get you going in the right direction. But at the end of the journey, the mirror v. your mental image of your ideal self is far more important than the scale.
-
All the consumer scales are a bit hit and miss. Any scale is really fine.
-
Do you dip under 1200 calories after you subtract your activities? Or do you never get to 1200 food intake calories?

1. Have you reconciled/forgiven your dad? You can't move on until you tie up the loose ends. Have you made a peace with the demons in your past?

This is the only part I have trouble with. People can do dreadful, horrible things to themselves (and others) for insanely long amounts of time. People can under eat and over train for years before they realize something isn't right. Everybody's journey is different. I think the value of these forums is the community of…

People fast for a week all the time. Usually for spiritual reasons instead of fitness ones. There's nothing wrong with a short term fast.

I think the high priority is her health. I don't think it's wrong to offer money. But I think you need to know that in your daughter's mind; working out is not linked to her health and fitness. It's linked to money.
-
I don't have cheat meals. But about once a week I'll fall off the wagon. I typically eat right at my goal weight BMR number. On fall off the wagon days I still am under my TDEE number

Preach!

The 5 week predictor is a good motivator. But it hasn't been accurate for me.

I just assume the security deposit is never going to be recouped.

A great rule of thumb is: The more it takes human processing to get it ready to eat; the less it has anything beneficial to offer your body.
