Completely and utterly untrue. You still lose weight in starvation mode, muscle weight. ...and you do not go into starvation mode by eating below your BMR. You go into starvation mode by actually starving which is at least below 1000 calories a day. The stuff people believe is insane.

What is this obsession with having to eat at least BMR level calories? You can eat below your BMR, in fact, you should if live a somewhat sedentary lifestyle. Who made up this rule that you have to stay above your BMR to lose weight? It is not based in science or logic. You all realize that if you eat below your BMR, your…

Your BMR is the amount of calories you burn if you slept all day. In reality, if you are a sedentary person, you still do more than sleep all day, so to get an accurate estimate of the amount of calories you burn in a day, multiply your BMR by 1.2. Yes, you can eat below your BMR number, people do it all the time, this is…

To be 5'10" and toned at 250 is damn near impossible. I would shoot for 200 tops. A man standing 5'10" at a toned 200lbs is NOT small. That's still quite a bit of work. I'm 5'10" and my goal is 175 to 185.

297lbs at 5'10"

I don't lie on here, but the lies I see are... 1. Maybe you gained weight because you're putting on muscle. 2. Maybe you aren't losing weight because you're in starvation mode. 3. Non-scale victories are somehow better than seeing the scale drop.

I was 16 and a junior in high school. I was on the bus to my building contruction class. I heard it over the radio.

As far as weight loss is concerned, calories are equal. That being said, others factors such as overall health and wellness, blood sugar/diabetic issues, or fitness, calories are not all equal.

I had a cheat meal on Sunday. I ate BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, devilled eggs, pasta salad, Texas toast, and a piece of cake for desert, It was for a family members birthday. I did my weekly weigh in on Thursday, and I still lost 2.2lbs. One crazy meal won't kill you provided the rest of your week is good to go. Mind over…

Sorry, load of crap. I drink plenty of diet drinks and add equal to my coffee and oatmeal everyday. I've lost 26 pounds in 8 weeks. Stop with the broscience. Diet drinks have no calories and will not, in and of themselves, slow or stop weight loss. It's simply not true.

Steel cut oats are more of a chore but good, you pretty much have to overnight cook those. Rolled oats only take a few more minutes than instant oatmeal though and taste a million times better. It's worth the extra 5 or 6 minutes to make.
-
For people who have only ate instant oats, please, PLEASE, go and buy some old fashioned oat meal (rolled oats). You will never go back to quick or instant oats again.
-
They are fine healthwise, they just do not taste as good as rolled oats. Texture is huge too. Rolled oats are thick and full, have a fuller flavor too. They don't take much longer to make either. Boil some milk (I used Silk) and add a serving of rolled oats, cook for about 5 to 10 minutes. Try it and you'll see the…

NEVER EVER, EVER!!!!! .....eat instant oatmeal. It is pure crap. Eat old fashioned (rolled oats) oatmeal. Not even close to the same thing, instant oats are gross and completely inferior. Try rolled oats and you'll never go back to instant oats. I'm about to start a group called "Say No to Instant", that's how serious I am…

2300 calories is a lot for a woman trying to lose weight unless you're a triathlete or something. Most women I know trying to lose weight eat around 1200 to 1500. It's actually plenty of calories for weight loss. You need a 500 calorie deficit a day to lose only a pound a week. I ate 1695 cals today and it was plenty of…

The part about loving yourself is cool, I'm just not seeing what she did that was so wrong, She just seemed to overreact a bit. The advice she gave when working for the weight loss company want bad. Nothing wrong with the calorie limits, nothing wrong with encouraging someone to "get back on the bandwagon".

1200 calories for a woman that's 5'2 and 150lbs trying to get to 120lbs or 115lbs is FINE. Nothing wrong with it what so ever, I eat 1700 to 1800 calories a day as a 274lbs man and its plenty of food and I'm losing weight. A small woman trying to lose that last 30 pounds or so is not going to eat much over 1200 calories a…

Overly dramatic. Nothing wrong with 1200 calories a day for most women. She's acting like she assisted Hitler with the Holocaust. I'm not a fan of those weightloss diet companies but they are a business, use their services of don't, its up to you. They aren't committing genocide like the article seems to suggest.

Seven pounds sounds like a lot to gain out of nowhere. I know this may seem dumb but, having you been weighing at the same time of day (before meals, etc) and were you wearing the same clothing? Eating after a big dinner would be much different than weighing in after you wake up before breakfast, also Underwear and a…
