Wow! Thank you all for posting! You must all be so proud that your hard work has paid off so well. I'd love to hear anything you think worked best. Drinking water and logging everything is a great tip. Others?

I've seen enough goal posts to predict that people will be ready to hop out of the woodwork to tell you not to make such goals. Slow and steady and all that (2 pounds a week max). . . One thing though that I would suggest is to make goals of things you can control like "I am going to track meals every day" or "I will work…

Years ago, I did South Beach, which was designed by a cardiologist. The first phase is essentially proteins and vegetables. Vegetables do have sugar but with very low glycemic index. There is a science behind what happens to people who have insulin resistance where their insulin spikes and shortly thereafter they crave…

Maybe I'll take your lead and introduce myself too. I did South Beach in the past. I've never had more success with a "diet" than with South Beach. The…

I tried to read through all the posts to see if this was covered, but there's a good chance that you are insulin resistant. One poster mentioned about refined sugar, which is very true. A diet like South Beach can also help. It starts as just protein and vegetables. Even fruit gets reintroduced slowly. However, no diet…

Hi Z, I am in a similar boat. My scale is my enemy! It just doesn't move. However, I have found that keeping a lot of different measurements--waist, hips, etc--shows that I'm doing things right. I also have read that muscle loss is what keeps women from losing weight as they get older. I think your strength training will…

The scale can be an enemy to women. I have a lot of fluctuations, but I have also noticed that I retain water after a big day of exercise. If you haven't done measurements, make sure you do! You'll see that the tape measure is a much better friend to women than the scale. There's a spot to track measurements on here too.…

Hi, I tried to read all responses in order to not repeat. Sorry if I am (lots of responses). I definitely agree with tracking your calories. However, there are medical conditions too that can keep that scale's needle from moving. Hypothyroid, Vitamin D deficiency, and PCOS all can affect weight loss. For PCOS, for example,…
