I saw the sticky but was looking for more tailored advice especially considering the body of it is concentrated on getting to the point of being able to run 5k, something I can already do.

So it seems that I may have messed up in calculating my losses somewhere in the conversion from KM to miles and trying to work out mph time. But it would seem most people agree with me on the overestimating!

I had one from my uncle - wheres the other half of you?

Thanks guys :)

I put 32-34" as the last pair of jeans I bought were 34" but that was about 6/7 weeks ago and they're feeling loose.
-
Well done! I started as 42" waist and about 5 weeks ago went shopping and got a 34" pair of jeans, but they're already feeling loose less than two months later! 32" would a great size to fit and considering my height (6 foot) Im unlikely to get any lower without being unhealthy!

It's inevitable I'll hit my goal now so have no problem having treats. For instance I've my university exams at the moment and today I had a 450g Ben and Jerry's tub of ice-cream! 1000 calories but including my dinner/breakfast I still hit my maintenance calorie weight.

I get it off the treadmill when I slow it down for a minute of two of pace walking.

Is there a reason why I should swap? I like it as it gets me sweaty and feeling into my workout routine. I usually follow this by 30 minutes weights and finish with 5 mins rowing machine and 10 mins on the bike.

Thanks for the info, I'll look it up! Ive only started running in the last 6 weeks or so 3-4 times a week so Im still new (and unfit!) and am trying to get 5k done in under 30 mins.

What helped me lose most of my weight? In a word, water. Replace all liquids with water, you'd be surprised the effect it'll have!

Hi Angela, I notice in your profile picture you have stretch marks on your stomach in the left picture while its gone in the right. How long did that take? Im 20 so only a year older than you and have lost ~70lbs so any info/tips you have would be great!

I've only started running in the last 2 months as a start to my gym session. Originally I started doing a 2k run, upped it to 2.5k, 3 and now 5k. I vary my speed depending on when Im tired but usually do 5k in around 32 minutes. Im aiming to get it under 30 soon but want to do a 10k run in 2013. I've never done running…

Swap to diet, I felt like it so I've drunk 2 liters of Pepsi max today, 0 calories.

Im in a similar situation to you. 20 year old, 3rd year in college. Started at 256lbs in july and am currently 189lbs. I didnt start hitting the gym until two months ago when I was ~220 lbs and have never seen a nutritionist/dietician. Just look at MFP, what you're eating and how much calories are in it. Eat your way into…

You should be able to lose 20lbs by May from just dieting alone, heck you could do it by late january/february from just calorie counting. I usually start my workout by a 30 minute treadmill run + 5 minute cooldown. Im 189lbs 20 y/o Male and I usually burn around 500 calories doing a 5km run. I start with a minute warm up…

Thats the response I was looking for guys :)

MFP must not like positive posts!

It's funny I tend to ignore it but the fact that Im 16lbs from 'healthy' on the BMI scale is nice :)

To get within 10 lbs of my target weight (I need to lose six to do this) and after running three 5k's for the first time ever last week to get on it again and improve my time, currently at 32 mins (Under 30 should be doable but Im still new at running!).
-
I've no problem saying how I've lost weight, I skip breakfast everyday, replaced all my liquids with water (expect going from coke to diet coke) and counted calories, it really is that simple.
-
I started at 256lbs at 6"1 and have lost exactly 60 pounds to date in a period of under 5 months so yes it is very much possible.
-
Thanks for all the replies guys, did another 5k again today, it is addictive and a great way to start off a gym session before I move onto weights! As for speed intervals what way do you recommend? I do a minute warm up, then stick it on 12km until I reach 1km distance by which time I end up switching it down to 10km as Im…

Any other advice? I really dont want to have to buy a book, Im a poor student with loads of essays and little time to read!

Started at 42" down to 34" now, 30/32" would be the goal.

I dont log for two reasons, as mentioned above the chewing actually loses alot of the calories in the gum even though there is only 5/6 per piece. Secondly I tend to do walking throughout my day that I dont log such as walking to/from bus stops which for me accounts for 3/4 km per day. In general I dont really log exercise.

thanks guys, added you both :)

I have 60 to lose and 50 by christmas would be great :)
