  • That is great, and it's such a wonderful feeling!
  • I saw this earlier, and I was surprised. It's taken me quite some time to accept myself as I am. No, I will never look like a model - but apprently neither do the models in real life.
  • None. I live way out in the country and there are no close neighbors. I'm going to go to church tomorrow night to give out candy there anyway. I love looking at all the kids in their costumes.
  • So far, I've lost 37lbs in just under four months (it will be four months November 5th). I've lost about 2lbs a week so far, although I've recently changed it to 1.5lbs a week. I have to be careful because I have to count calories I have no way of logging, but with some trial and error, I've gotten the hang of it.
  • I like friend requests, so it doesn't bother me. Besides, I've been guilty of sending requests without messages in the past, so it would be rather hypocritical of me to get aggravated about it.
  • For me, the Ehler's Danlos showed up when I was very young but it was misdiagnosed many, many times. It's most obvious in my feet. When I'm sitting, I appear to have arches. When I stand, however, my feet are completely flat and turn sideways until my ankle is actually on the ground. The doctors told my mother I would…
  • One good thing is that I went to the transplant center back in October and the doctor said I had lost enough to qualify for a kidney transplant and that a new kidney should be imminent. I can't wait to get my health back. I'm going to keep losing weight until I'm at my healthiest, but I'm so eager to return to work…
  • I have two auto-immune diseases. First, I have IgA Nephropathy, which causes protein to be dumped in the kidneys. I'm in kidney failure and I've been doing dialysis for almost three years. I'm hoping to get a kidney very soon. Secondly, I have a connective tissue disease called Ehler's Danlos. It's usually characterized by…
  • When I first started, I weighed 235lbs (and I'm 5'3"). Thinking that I needed to lose around 100lbs seemed overwhelming. I kept thinking about it would be nearly impossible and how long it would take. Several kind people here suggested the idea of working towards smaller goals, and that really worked for me. Instead of…
  • I'm 5'3" and know this all too well. The other day I was at a store and was looking for some specific dog food. At first I thought the store was out, but when I climbed up I saw there was two bags left on the top shelf - pushed all the way to the back. I hunted through the store until I found a stepstool for sale, and I…
  • I want to be 185 by Christmas. I'm currently at 198.
  • I could never understand why people are so ready to believe everything Dr Oz says. Maybe so many people are searching for that miracle cure for fat they're willing to believe anything?
  • Like others have said, I think those people honestly think they are being helpful. What makes it so frustrating is that what you are doing is obviously working, so why do they think you need to do anything differently? My dad is the worse. He should know better because he was a nurse, but he's always giving me unsolicited,…
  • My reason was my health. I'm in end stage kidney failure, and I've been doing dialysis for three years (almost). I've been struggling with my weight for awhile and peritoneal dialysis didn't help since you can get up to 1,000 calories from the solution. I went to the transplant center earlier this year, and the doctor…
  • I have a 'friend' on facebook that sells one of these magic powders that supposedly just melts away the fat. It might sound terrible, but I haven't unfriended her because the success stories she posts daily are actually amusing. Of course this or that person lost weight. They were using your drink mix along with diet and…
  • You look wonderful! Congratulations! You are such an inspiration!
  • When I was young my dad would call me "little idiot" or "little fool." He's say things like, "Little idiot, can't you do anything right?" Once, when I was about seven, we all went fishing. When we were done, we were walking back up the bank. I was in front, my dad was behind me, and my mom was last. Anyway, I slipped on…
  • I used to eat more frozen food because it was quick and easy, but then I started noticing the sodium. Yikes! I use the crock pot more these days. It might take a little more work, but it's worth it for me.
  • I had a strange thing said to me the other day. I met up with a friend who hadn't seem for awhile. She first said, "Wow! You've lost a lot of weight." I was about to say thank you when she added, "Did you do it on purpose?" No. I'm eating healthier and exercising purely by accident. :grumble:
  • Not really. Although I've lost, I still only see 'fat' when I look at myself.
  • I just don't look right in them. If I get skinny jeans that will go up over my thighs and butt, then they aren't 'skinny' anywhere else.
  • I weigh myself every morning as well. When I first started, I became obsessed with the scale and would be so upset if it didn't show a loss each time. It got very bad, so I had to take the scale out of the bathroom so I wouldn't see it each morning and put it in an unused room. When I finally starting understanding…
  • I just log it as walking usually. I've been doing the four fast miles.
  • I personally find it inspirational. The problem is that we assign motivation or assume what someone's purpose and message. I personally took the message to be, "I can do it, so you can too!" I don't think the idea is that we have to look exactly like her. I've had surgery in my stomach area to put in a port, so I don't…
  • What I'll do is to plan ahead with my meals, just like I've been doing so far. That way I can plan for holiday treats without going crazy. I'll also keep up with my exercise. In fact, I plan to keep losing weight over the winter to keep moving towards my goal.
  • I wore the same pants for a long time. I was also about to get frustrated - until I tried some old pants that I hadn't been able wear for a long time only to discover I could wear smaller pants. I hadn't really noticed how baggy my old pants had gotten until it was pointed out to me. My pants had been a little tight, so I…
  • I am obese, but I am inching my way to just being overweight day by day. I have a lot of things working against me losing weight. I'm in kidney failure, and it's caused a lot of my other systems not to work as well. I don't digest food well. I can't drink much water. I suffer from anemia (not low iron, low red blood…
  • My motivation is very simple. I've been on dialysis for 3 years and I want a kidney. I went to the doctor and he told me that if I didn't show weight loss in three months, I would be taken off of the list and never allowed to have a kidney transplant at that hospital. That scared me, but it worked. I've since been back to…
  • Hungry. Must...devour...all...the...ice...cream.
  • Personally, I do find it inspirational. When I see someone who has done well it makes me think, "Hey, that person did it so I can too!" I understand that we all have different circumstances, issues, struggles, etc. Truthfully, I may never look like her but that still doesn't mean that I can appreciate her success as I…
