I am no expert by any means whatsoever, still a noob myself but from what I have read drop sets are useful as a replacement for a spotter, so maybe if your friends are in a rush you could stay heavy and get some ask for a spot?

most pre workouts are mostly high GI carbs, while this does energize your workout, if you are looking to loose weight probably not the best as you will just be burning the pre workout during your "fat burning" workout a good stroing cup of coffee or 2 might be all you need?
