I can imagine a doctor may in some cases suggest an 800 calorie diet, maybe. I cannot imagine a doctor recommending such a number and then giving absolutely zero advice on how to fit a healthy balanced diet into those calories.

I think part of it is toughing it out. You have to push through it. Right now you're craving little snacks at those times because you've been giving your body snacks at those times.

Look after your feet! Wear proper running shoes that fit, do appropriate stretches, don't push yourself to start too hard.
