911 dispatcher married to a FF here. My husband's dept lets them go to the Y on shift to work out every day when they aren't busy. They just respond to calls from there if necessary.

I'm also a 911 dispatcher, and I must say I am SO JEALOUS of the desks! We want one SO BAD! :) Congrats on the 5 pound loss!

Hi Chelsea! I don't think I'd like doing all that swapping. I do everying you do, only I do it alone lol. I used to work at a different department with a second dispatcher but we did it all. :)

I have some string cheese in the mini fridge in here...I'm hungry but I don't want to eat. I feel like I'm going to puke. I'm super nervous...I'm shooting a wedding this saturday (for my dispatch partner) I'm terrified.

I gave in..sigh. Guess that's what happens when you are too busy to eat all day and forgot to bring dinner. :(

can i just say that who ever left the box of candy bars to sale in dispatch (for their kid's fundraiser) is EVIL. i'm trying to resist. I don't need one.

I don't usually even get a chance to break a sweat since someone always needs me on the radio or phone or 911 ring. lol But I do get to control the AC ;)

Lynz- My crew right now is rather lazy. I'm used to my wanna be troopers that run traffic all night. I'll get those guys back soon enough. They rotate to days every month. so true about keeping money in the pocket :) Every time i tried to move my chair and do a quick walk w/ a youtube video 911 rang...i gave up. I did finally get to call an officer in and go outside and walk for 20 min. :)

um you're my hero! how on earth do you handle all of that?! I just have one kid and only work 15 out of every 30 days and think i'm going to lose it most of the time!

anyone else on tonight? I work sat and sun nights as well this weekend...had to send my husband (EMS) to deal with one of our frequent flyer drunks...ugh.

We are a tiny dept. I have 3-4 officers on at a time and I disp for FD if they run a city call. Sheriff's Office takes over if they run county. We train rookie officers to cover disp but the Sgts usually come in.

I work nights too! I'm a police dispatcher, I work 1900-0700. No sleeping on duty for me either since I am the only dispatcher here. Sometimes if it's slow an officer will come in and let me take a cat nap.
