My personal thought is if you reduce your body fat overall, and work on your abdominal muscles, then child or no child, you'll be able to make a difference to it. It may not be perfect, and it will take time and hard work, but don't give up :-)

There are a lot of posts, and I don't have time to read them all, but hopefully you are getting an unbiased view overall :-) My two cents worth (hopefully not repeating anyone else) is to try and make the relationship work, but perhaps try and put some distance between you? You say that you have tried going on strike and…

Don't even let the THOUGHT of falling off the wagon enter your head :-) I'm sure your dad would be the first to say that he all he wants for you is that you are fit and healthy and living the best and longest life that you can - even if he can't be with you... Keep yourself busy that day, maybe find friends or famly to…

The majority vote seems to be no, and as the mother of a teenage daughter, I would agree! These kids aren't friends, this isn't that important a party, this is just wanting to do what everyone else is doing - peer pressure pure and simple. Good chance to teach her that you don't have to do things, just because "everyone…

I am NOT a minimalist, and I'm actually too scared to start clearing out my closet because I'm worried that once I take out the stuff I don't really like, and the stuff that doesn't really fit, then I won't have anything left! LOL I say definitely get rid of the things that are too big - don't give yourself permission,…

I tried it once, just for fun, and I have NO upper body strength so let's just say I wasn't very good at it! *grin* The mind was willing - I could totally see myself doing it in my minds eye - but the flesh was too weak sadly! :-) I still say go for it - it's only two weeks, there will be others in the same boat (and…

I was thinking that maybe you should find a dietician that can help him out - a good one will know exactly how to help him and that's less stress for you :-) The internet will do your head in if you take it too seriously. I wouldn't worry too much about him eating carbs - as long as they are healthy ones like whole grain…

Welcome and well done for making the decision! That's the first and most important step :-) Definitely suggest friending people on here - they will give you encouragement and keep you accountable. Probably good to find someone in real life as well. You don't have to tell everyone, just someone you can trust who can…

I suck at swimming, and gyms bore me rigid as well, so while I do join gyms, I only ever do their group fitness classes. For me there is something about having a set time that I need to turn up, you get to know other people in the class and are therefore someone notices if you DON'T turn up, and there is someone up the…

Funny, I'm 5'8" and when I got down to 65 kilos (or your 145 pounds) I got told I looked too thin in the face! I now tend to havea goal weight about 5 kilos higher then that, because 65 was the bottom of my range, but only because I thought it would be easier to maintain... Now I gotta get back there again! haha I don't…

Sheesh, don't waste it on the cat! LOL I'm with Adini - great ideas! (I'd also quite like her figure, but that's another story! *grin*). You should go here, both today and anytime you have an ingredient you need ideas for: www.allrecipes.co.nz. It will jump to an aussie website but you can just ignore that haha. This is a…

Treadmill, bushwalk, walk along the beach - it's all walking right? :-) What's the matter boys? Can't keep up?? *grin* My arms get cold to the touch when I exercise as well so I'm going to say we're not freaks, it's just about the sweat cooling the body down!

I have to say I really don't like water either, but I knew I needed to drink at least 6 cups of plain water every day! This isn't too bad when it is hot, and I'm thirsty, but it's winter here now, and sometimes I JUST don't feel like it! I work a desk job, and what I found helped is to get a 1.5L water bottle, and a glass,…

What a shame you don't live in New Zealand - I've been singing the praises of a magazine we get here called the Healthy Food Guide. They've just done two articles recently called "cook once, eat for a week" where you prepare several "base" meals (a lot of which get frozen), split them up to be turned into various things,…

I weigh in once a week as well - if you do the research, that's the most recommended way to do it :-) Daily I would find too stressful as there are so many factors that can cause loss or gain and you can't keep up with them all! Bite the bullet and weigh tomorrow and I imagine you'll be pleasantly surprised (the one…

Even if you can't find the time to exercise, if you try and watch what you eat that will definitely help! You can also try and get peripheral exercise - i.e. take the stairs wherever you can, pace up and down when you're talking on the phone, stuff like that. Every little bit counts - I read an article that increased the…

Welcome welcome! Been on here a couple of weeks myself, and having a ball!! It's good to find people who you know are gonna say "Hey, aren't you weighing in tomorrow?" so you know that someone will notice if you don't! *grin* Good luck on your journey and feel free to add me if you think we have things in common (I know…

haha Catmanor - I knew you'd be in here eventually! *grin*

I hear ya! Must be a universal fix haha Can't drink too much water before bedtime or I'll be up at the crack of dawn! lol If you don't go to bed, then at least go do something to keep you busy that you don't relate to food. e.g. I CANNOT watch TV for long without feeling hungry - we even fast foward all the ads but it…

Hmmmm tough choice... keep the husband and not have fur babies, or... perhaps you could compromise... tell him you'll only get one? :-) He'd hate me... I have six! In my defence, I chose one, one was given to me and four chose me! :-) Love them all to bits - one large black and white boy called Domino, one small black boy…

Yay! I finally figured out how to join this group so I could post! LOL Howick here! :-)

This was worth reading just for Skullshank's comments! LOL Clearly I need to friend him if I ever need a good laugh :-) Good to see you have 28 friends now Canuck - I suspect that's more then me dammit! *grin* Still, I've only been on here a week or two, I live forever away from most of you, and I have a dog on my profile…

Was always skinny as a kid (you know the nicknames!), and was fine right up until my late 20's when I had my daughter... even managed to lose post baby weight by breast feeding and then I think it was a little bit of everything... getting older and metabolism changing, not ever having had to watch my weight before so not…

For myself, if I see someone of a slightly larger size, out there doing something (like walking or whatever) I think "Awesome! Go you!". Doesn't matter what size they are - they are trying and that's what counts :-) And if I see someone around that is morbidly obese, I don't judge, I grieve... deeply. I know how hard it is…

Did a pole dancing class once... I was USELESS! haha No upper body strength to speak of... I could "see" myself doing it, because it looked like awesome fun, but while the mind was willing, the body was weak! lol I think it would be good for strengthening, and a good way to mix things up if you like variety in your…

I don't mind my men being slightly hirsute in all the usual places (arms, legs, chest) , but hairy backs and necks aren't really my thing... But PLEASE don't shave (except your face lol)! I'm with Marissa - stubble is bad! I hate the feel of stubble, including on myself, which is why I've never shaved my legs, only waxed.…

Move to New Zealand - pot is illegal here! :-) I don't think I could live anywhere that it was all around me :-(
-
Okay, so it's several days on, and no updates about what happened with the no-show girl!? Did you hear from her again? Do tell! :-) And FunforSports, I'd be very disappointed in my sex to hear there are females out there that would stand you up on a date just to play "hard to get"!
-
Great topic - will wait with interest to see how many of us are out there :-) Nickymaire is from New Plymouth - have you found her? Has a white shepherd like me so I like her already! *grin* Add me too, anyone out there, especially if you live in East Auckland and would like a walking buddy :-) And can I just say that…

Yeah, fad diets just don't work long term - totally agree with those who are saying take it slow, don't try and eat the elephant all in one bite (so to speak LOL) and don't ban anything - moderation is the key. I know that the minute I think that I can never have something ever again, then that's all I crave! Better to eat…
