I lift too so that keeps me more than focused, but...my gym has cable so I'll toss on some HGTV or Food Network. I'm sure the latter causes consternation amongst other gym goers post- Raevyns-Workout.

Has anyone done a whole chicken in the crock? It's awesome. Just line the bottom of the crock with some chunkily diced onion, carrots and celery and about two cups water or broth. Grab your chicken, salt/pepper/herb it up (I often brine mine overnight beforehand). Stuff a lemon or an orange in the cavity. Plop into the…

Chow has some really great crockpot recipes, and I find a ton on Pinterest. Combine these with my grocery store's sales circular and I'm (less) fat and (more) happy. I can never really stick to a recipe exactly, but I made the below recipes last week and they were SO GOOD. Crockpot chicken with apple and sweet potato:…

Big cups of mint/green tea. Several. If that doesn't help, I have a little nibble. Some cheese or a small slice of whatever dinner's leftover protein was. The protein and fat helps keep the snack small yet satisfying.

Just checking up to see how you're feeling! Have you been to a doctor? Have you started eating a wee snack at night?
-
My partner works from home, but he does all of the laundry and dishes and a lot of the incidental cleaning, so dinner is on me every night.

Aye. I explain away the commute as it gives me time to read, but on the days that I get a ride home and two hours becomes 45 minutes (I take public transit) my energy levels are through the roof.
-
GUM! I need to remember that one! BRILLIANT!

LIST. I LOVE LISTS.

Yanno, if I didn't have arthritic knees I would so take up running. Everyone and their mom is running these days and i remember how it used to feel to run before my knees busted. That second wind that made me feel like I was flying...I can see how that would work well.

Does exercise really help you with your anxiety? I'd love to get off the meds I'm on.
-
Ooh, early bedtimes....Hrrrrmmm...
-
I'm working on that actually. We did a meal plan for the week for the first time this week. This might remove some of that decision fatigue as I'm the one in charge of meal planning and cleanup in my household. Fingers crossed?

...Yanno. You may have a point there. Lots of my stress is the severe lack of time I have, because most of it is spent at work or commuting. Food as stress relief is quick. Hrm.

Thanks! I have already decided that I am so going to buy myself an e-book or three at the end of a hard week or as a reward for a job well done. I'm book motivated.

I remember those commercials! I'm older than I behave. ^_~ I should have mentioned that the main source of my stress is not only the usual work/life stressors, but the fact that my commute is two hours each way. This means that I tend to choose the expedient coping mechanism rather than the more effective one because I…

It so is! /sigh /eyes jelly beans

It's so hard building those habits. I bought myself a swimsuit and cap and went to the pool ONCE. There were a ton of parents and kids there and I've been avoiding it like the self conscious introvert I am ever since. Mebbe I'll hop on the stationary bike after a hard day before making dinner? Hrm.

For some reason trips turned into conventions (I tend to go to geeky conventions on vacations) turned into the idea of buying a new figure or book as a treat. Nice, thanks! ^_~

Oooh, dig the haircut idea! I'm so bad at doing non-essential things for myself. It's been years since my curls have been tamed. Thanks!

Indeed. I still think that making an appointment with your doc is the highest wisdom, even if the snack helps.
-
#1: Go to the Doctor #2 This is likely low blood sugar from not eating after 5pm. Have a little protein-rich snack (Some beef or tofu jerky and an apple?) an hour or so before bed and see what happens. Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. You should really go see someone who is.

I love my wines and they're decently low in calories. If I want a mixed drink (and not just shots of Russian Standard) I mix vodka, a splash of lime juice and seltzer.

I've been playing fast and loose with my own rules because I'm a rebel, even when I'm the one setting the rules. It's my blessing and my curse. However the snack foods and cocktails have been adding up. A few hundred calories over here and there and whoops! Weight gain! I needed to read this. I was starting to get…

Been there, done that, totes logged it! I ran the length of the train platform, up the escalator, the length of the station deck, down another escalator and clear across the bus roundabout in less than two minutes. It counted!

Pleasant ZOMG moment: The strawberry-mint margarita I just made is relatively low calorie even though I muddled the strawberries and mint in sugar. I'm beginning to suspect that processed food and restaurant food are the true calorie culprits.
-
Hoooooooovering! You know what's funny? Until I started tracking my noms, I thought I had a sweet tooth. Then I saw all of the salt and fat and protein and not all that much sugar. Tricked myself, I did!
-
Isn't it madness? Tracking really clarifies things. For better or for worse.

It HAS to be! Such delicious eels. I will miss them.

Today's ZOMG moment: My favorite sushi, Unagi, is PACKED WITH CALORIES. 6 unagi nigiri was nearly 500 cals. POUT.
