Salt. It seems to be everywhere....sometimes even on the rim of my drink glass.

I am watching an episode now. Thanks for the tip! This is very interesting.

I have made this bread dozens of times with perfect results...and I am NOT a baker. It is from Mark Bittman of the New York Time. This is the quick version (only 4 hours of rise). Mark had done an earlier article about a version that takes 12 or more hours. By changing the yeast concentration he came up with a quicker…

Burrito bowl from Chipotle fits the bill, but it's almost more than I am comfortable eating in one sitting. If you live where there are Taco Time's, a large pinto bean taco salad is under 400 calories. I love Mexican food...salads especially.

You don't have your log open for people to see, so I'm not sure if you have it set up. When you enter in your details (height, weight, sex, and weight goals) it will give you a target based upon your goal and whatever it thinks is your base metabolism. Then add in your food and exercise and you'll see where you need to…

I'm a fan of rice cakes. They may not pack much of a nutritional punch, but they are crunchy and the flavored ones taste good (at least to me). They're not for everyone, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxGEjc1lIm8

Hey....I think I'll add you....look for a request.

Hi Jessica. I'm a 45 year old guy trying to get fit for my wife and kids. I've been doing this for a month and can't begin to count the calories that I've lost due to motivation from a bunch of different mfp friends all over the country (and I think some are in England). I originally thought a bunch of 40's guys would be…

Welcome! I love the pic with you and the Lay's bag. Log them or toss them! Recording everything I eat has been awesome. I haven't been hungry once and am losing weight once I became more careful about what I eat. Now I don't eat anything until I've looked it up on my phone. I am the worlds worst dieter...but there is a lot…

I have the same problem trying to decide what to enter when I eat at a local restraunt or at someone's house. I tend to be conservative and over-estimate. I will typically try to find a similar dish from a mainstream place that's not particularly healthy (like Applebees or Red Robin) and enter those values. I'd rather…

Do you use any special pizza dough? Part of my new aversion to pizza is all of the calories from the dough. Since I started this, I realized that most bread doesn't seem worth the calories to me.

I'm new to logging foods, too. It's a whole new world for me. Friend request sent.

45 and also relatively new to this (25 days). Friend request sent!

If I can do it, you can do it. Feel free to add as a friend.

You can do it! Record everything you eat and the weight will come off! You'll have a lot of support from this community.

"Excuse me...uh....I...I believe you have my peanut butter." [/img]

I love science, trashy TV, and a drink now and then (peanut butter is OK, too). I also love to eat savory comfort food. I haven't had pizza in a month and it's killing me. Glad to meet you!

As others have said, you may have traded fat for muscle. That's great progress. How your clothes fit tells more than your scale. And don't forget that many home scales are notoriously inaccurate...or if you weighed yourself on different scales that may be part of the issue.

I don't log...and here's the reason why. As Lucas says, logging is tedious and it has really helped me be more mindful of everything I eat. That said, I don't want it to be so tedious that I quit doing this all together. For me, generally I don't log gum, or very low cal condiments like hot sauce (I do log BBQ sauce, salad…

I'm new to this and hoping I can stick with it. I'm another guy in his 40's who's trying to get back to fighting weight. It looks like you've kicked the eating and smoking issues and it's all down hill from here. Thanks for your service, by the way.
