I'm a vegetarian! Tonight I had a Boca burger with kale chips and broccoli. So good! I'm usually looking for new ideas too. Feel free to add me.

Permanent weight loss isn't fast or quick. Depending on how much you have to lose, the first 5-15 pounds may drop off quickly, but after that, it's a slow, consistent task of maintaining a healthy and sustainable calorie deficit.

Just an update! I've lost about 15 pounds this year! Yay! I want to lose about 5 more and I'm feeling good about it!
-
Yes, if you've lost 20 pounds (yay) you've also unfortunately lowered the number of calories your body needs, which means you should eat less than you did when you were 20 pounds heavier (boo.) You've maybe built some muscle, but probably not enough to really interfere with your weight loss. I'd suggest adjusting your…

Yes, you should eat 1300 every day.

I really, really love exercise (strength training, circuit training and cardio), but I did find it hard to slim down while exercising 5-6 days a week. My appetite was higher and I think I was building muscle. Either way, the scale wouldn't bulge. I was so frustrated. I also wasn't admittedly wasn't tracking my food…

I'm sorry for the rude comments you've received! People are so awful sometimes. They're just jealous. You and your wife look great -- you've both obviously put in a lot of hard work, and to be met with criticism is so irritating. Thank you for the encouragement and good luck to you both!

If they persist, there's always, "if I wanted to look like you, I'd eat like you". :smiling_imp: (The nuclear option is a last resort.)
OUCH! good one :) ... i'm gonna save that one for the day i plan to quit my job. LOL
I LOVE THIS. I'll save it for a day when my passive aggressiveness gives way to ALL…

Yes, I think after reading a few comments that say to stop engaging in conversation, answering questions and explaining myself, this seems to be the way to go! As for my boyfriend, I should definitely show him my food diary. Oatmeal with peanut butter mixed in and Greek yogurt on the side is a really filling and…

Good point. Engaging in conversation makes it their business... and it's not. Thanks!

Yes, that's a good point. I also turn down frequent lunch invitations because eating out is way too expensive. And I turn them down often because most restaurants aren't good at offering balanced vegetarian meals, so it usually throws off my macros for the day. Which makes me grumpy. Haha. But, I can certainly afford to go…

Hahaha, well I'm getting closer with every idiotic comment. Someone just made a comment about my lunch, asking if it was "Skinny Food." It's a huge bowl of chili. I'M SO DONE.

Very interesting article. Thank you for sharing!
-
Haha, well I am vegetarian. So people get hung up on that too. That's a whole other set of questions. Those don't bother me at all anymore! And yes, I've gone the route of accepting food and throwing it out later. It's oddly satisfying. :#

There's nothing empty about beer <3

Very smart! Thank you so much for sharing and have fun at your festivals!

Oh, thanks for the link! I've got it bookmarked now :)

That chart is a great resource! Thank you so much for sharing. And I'm going to a beer fest at a local brewery this weekend too! It's all cask beer! Also, a beer and chocolate workshop sounds like actual heaven.
-
Yes, wonderful advice. Thank you! I nearly always drink local craft beer, or even homebrew beer, so I'd never thought to search for a national brand. DUH. I'm an idiot. Haha.

You're DOWN 4 pounds? Or up 4 pounds?

I use a Polar heart rate monitor to track my calories burned and I usually eat back at least half, if not all of my calories. The daily number of calories MFP gives you to eat already includes a deficit, so to create a deficit on top of that through exercise might be a bit much. I know that not all people eat back their…
-
Are you using the calorie burn estimates in MFP and eating back most of your exercise calories? MFP's estimation of how many calories you burn from working out can be pretty far off, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Oh, and also, Quorn and Boca make wonderful meatless products. Quorn's products are soy-free, but Boca products are not. They have good protein with few carbs! Some are high in sodium though, so be sure to check the nutrition and ingredients.

Yes, I meant to mention how to make it taste better. Thanks for asking! When I first started eating Greek yogurt, I found the taste to be repulsive. Haha. I started by adding a teaspoon or so of local honey and mixing it in really well, and maybe a few berries as well! I now can eat it plain ... like by the spoonful! It…

I'm vegetarian too! It took me a while to reach balance, but I did it! I feel wonderful. Here is where I get my nutrients on a daily basis. Protein: Nonfat greek yogurt (plain), protein bars & protein powder supplements (be careful with these, as many are overprocessed. Always check the ingredients and nutrition facts!)…
-
Hi there! I'm a vegetarian and Greek yogurt is my number one protein source! I love it! Just 1 cup of Plain Nonfat Greek yogurt has 23 grams of protein and just 9g of carbs. I recommend Fage and Chobani.

I can't seem to lose these last 15 pounds for ANYTHING. Feel free to add me as well!

It could be that after a time of starvation (I'm not sure how long you struggled with anorexia), your brain is now in evolutionary survival instinct mode -- which means it's telling you to eat EVERYTHING just in case you happen upon another starvation situation again. After a prolonged calorie deficit or period of…

Yes, to clarify what I meant: I had awful eating habits for my entire life and I discovered healthy eating habits through Weight Watchers, research and lots of hard work. It worked wonderfully and I lost about 60 pounds in 6 months. At that point though, I had become so obsessed that I could think about every moment of…

It's certainly ok to be dedicated to counting calories/macros and eating a healthy diet -- but, if it becomes so obsessive that it takes over most of your life, time, thoughts and effort, it's not worth it. Just be sure to leave room for life :)
