  • No, since you don't absorb it (and in fact will probably lose some nutrients from taking it, as it is a laxative) you would not consider it a sugar for the purposes of your diary..
  • Some of the stuff they sell can cause liver damage. AVOID!!
  • I'm an RD (registered dietitian) and for healthy individuals, the recommendation is 0.8 - 1 grams per KILOGRAM (NOT pound!!) body weight for a healthy individual who is maintaining their weight. The recommendation for percent is 10-15% of total energy intake. To find your weight in kilograms, divide your weight in pounds…
  • Have you heard of a treadmill desks? It's a desk that fits over a treadmill and you set it so you are only walking 1-2 mph so you burn calories as you go. I saw a couple of news articles about it, where people lost like 50 lbs in a year just by using it. One of the brands is trekdesk, but I think there are others. But it's…
  • Find another doctor!! Ask a friend or go to healthgrades.com or vitals.com or yelp.com and find reviews of doctors. A good doctor will hold you accountable for your health habits and remind you of what you can do to be healthy, but they shouldn't make you feel bad about it!!
  • 74 pounds lost is great!! Keeping it off is hard, but you can do it. Realizing you've gained a few lbs back means you're monitoring yourself and you can get back on track! Good luck to you, and be proud of your 74 lb loss..that is amazing!
  • You said you were starting an "entire life transformation" and I think that sums it up. There are SO many benefits to exercise that can never be measured on a scale, for example a reduction in the risk for heart disease (I bet if you were to look at your cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and resting pulse you would see a…
  • I'd say it depends on how far under you are from your calorie goal. If it's less than 100 calories, fine, but if you are consistently less by hundreds of calories, that may backfire. Eventually, your body will adjust to that level and lower your metabolic rate. If you just started losing weight, it's normal to lose more at…
  • Either high quality chocolate, SAVORED, or I also like Vitamuffins and Vitabrownies - they have 100 calories each and are pretty tasty. They're not that easy to find, but luckily more grocery stores are carrying them. You heat them in the microwave or toaster, so they are warm and delicious. Whichever, ENJOY it and don't…
  • I agree with the other posters regarding diet pills. They benefit the people making money in that industry. I did look at the ingredient list for this one, http://www.dietsinreview.com/diets/jillian-michaels-14-day-cleanse-and-burn/ One thing I noticed is that it has bitter orange, an alternative to ephedra, which was…
  • Great advice!! And welcome, craftykimmer!
  • That sounds frustrating. Are you tracking every bite? You say you eat normally, but if you're eating out at all, it's SO difficult to stay at 1230 calories - I know, because I am at that calorie level and it's really challenging. Many restaurant entrees easily have 1230 calories alone. So I guess what I'm saying is that…

  • Stir fried veggies with tofu or lean meat Tacos w/ veggie crumbles (Morningstar makes some good ones!), or lean ground beaf/turkey or fish tacos
  • Wow...you sometimes did 2 sessions in 1 day?! Well, I just looked at your results, and you got phenomenal results. Congrats, and thanks for the inspiration. :)

  • Are you guys doing the 30ds EVERY day? Because that's what I assume you're supposed to do, but then I hear you aren't supposed to do weight training every day? I know it's technically circuit training, but it definitely incorporates weight training! (I did it yesterday and I am sore!)
  • I have definitely dreamed about food. I am obsessed! lol...I guess that's what happens when you are cutting back and having cravings..
  • Sodium will definitely cause water retention and water weight gain, but it won't affect FAT loss, which I assume is what you're going for. However, it's unhealthy, nonetheless, because it can lead to high blood pressure, increased risk of stroke, etc..(if you're sensitive to it) Like you, I have noticed that when I put…
  • Have you taken a pregnancy test? At 3 days late, you would probably get a result...then again, research says that even though the pregnancy test packages say "results as early as 5 days before" or whatever, that the over the counter tests really aren't Totally accurate until maybe 5 days after a missed period.
  • Kashi GoLean original with fresh sliced strawberries and almond or light soy milk. Yum!
  • I like Ann Taylor LOFT. I'm also in my 30's and it's hard to find clothes that don't look too teenager-ish or too granny-ish, lol...but they have a nice selection of reasonably priced clothes in smaller sizes. Have fun shopping!
  • Thanks for your reply! Yes I was thinking about it, but it seems kinda pricey, but good to know its worth it.
  • Thanks for sharing your recipe! :)
  • Ditto on weighing in first thing in the morning. I would not stop drinking water before weighing in. Think about what you are trying to accomplish. A certain number on the scale? or a healthier, leaner body? You may want to consider taking measurements, for example a waist measurement, or getting a scale with body fat…

  • The Couch to 5K program is great - I'm in week 4 (of 9 weeks total) and have noticed a definite improvement in my fitness, and hope to complete it and be able to run 30 minutes straight!
  • Yeah, prune juice is definitely a natural laxative. But prunes do the same and probably have more fiber to boot and make you feel like you're actually eating something good not choking down prune juice. They are quite tasty. Just don't eat too many!!
  • Looks delicious - thanks for sharing!! Glad to see a vegetarian recipe. :)
  • Wow, thanks so much for posting this info!! Protein is so important to help you feel full and may even help prevent muscle-loss during the weight loss process. Just make sure if you're eating a lot of protein, that you also drink plenty of water, as high protein intakes may increase risk for kidney stones. Also, with…
