I should look into a membership at a pool.

I think it may be "Back From Cali" by Slash... I took your suggestion and looked up the playlist on the radio! Funny they never mention alcohol - I must have added that in on my own! LOL
-
Rehab and Train suggestions, both not it. I cannot even remember the radio station!
-
Nope, thats not it. Thanks for trying, though! I don't think there are any swearwords in the one I heard, and it sounded rock like... nickelback style maybe?

OK - bumping to ask for more advice. I did a 45 minute kickboxing dvd today (Turbofire) and I eliminated any moves that caused me to use the pulled muscle. Also, if anything hurt, I didn't do that particular thing. I was pain free the entire workout, whaled on my arms and used hand weights, and even managed some light…

What can I say that hasn't already been said?? Your inner strength is now visible from the outside - I am awed to tears over your story!
-
Where does yours hurt? How many days past your injury are you and how much improvement do you have since the injury? I am hurting directly under my left buttcheek, and up into the glute a bit.
-
Thanks for the encouragement, guys! It does not help that I pulled a hamstring this weekend and am now out of commission from my beloved running for who knows how long??!! I am going to have to focus on diet for awhile which will swtich things up for me - up until this injury, I was slacking a bit on the diet thing because…

I wish I would have had this thread last week - I just got back from our weekend camping trip - 3 days and nights worth of hot dogs, smores, chips and cold beer - was a complete indulgence and I gained 7 lbs doing it!!! So be careful... thats quite a setback.

Thrift shop all the way! I have found the cutest things at our Salvation Army - and on Wednesdays they have 1/2 price sales that make it even more of a bargain. It is just plain silly to pay full price for things you know you won't be wearing for more than 6 weeks at a time, depending on how fast you're losing your weight…

Its in the back of my leg, though - isn't the adductor up front? Also - There is some pain in the middle of my buttock. It hurts to sit on a toilet! UGH

These responses are great - I do think we're getting slightly off topic, but its all good. Just to reign it back in a tiny bit: My original question was more about what guys think of the weight loss *process* on women, not really do they prefer fat or thin. Food for thought or discussion: I know a certain guy - I've seen…

Hey Steve - can you reccomend any old threads where you've weighed in heavily on the low-carb eating template? I'm intrigued with your expertise on the topic.
-
I really needed this reminder about the benefits/success rate of lower carb dieting. I've been venturing off into stupid eating and justifying all kinds of carbs these past few weeks. :/
-
YES! Exactly! Like, do I look like I am finally admitting that I was too fat, and now I have decided to lose weight and give in instead of putting on the act of fake self confidence when I was overweight??
-
Ha ha! Good post... but, don't y'all wonder why all the sudden someone looks hot to you? Do you think to yourself, hmm... I guess I've never really looked at this girl close enough - she is hot! You don't connect the dots to what a person looked like 6 months ago, but doesn't it seem funny that you suddenly see hotness?
-
Ah! Thats the type of thing I want to know! Do they see you as a hot chick with a "fat chick" inside? Do you ever get rid of that "ugliness" that some men see when they see an overweight woman? (I have been very obese before, so I am not talking about a pleasingly plump look)
-
You don't have problems with the music being out of rhythm with the moves, then?
-
I just wonder how it would work with a workout like Turbofire where it is so rhythm based?
-
I just LOVE this "fake drinking" strategy and I cannot wait to try it! Do you think anyone would know its water if it was in an amber bottle, like Michelob? Also - do you fake drinkers start with the real stuff and have any at all, or just go straight to water and fake drink? It sounds so naughty and sneaky!

I just have a few more thoughts on huge calves... could the fact that a person walks around very overweight for many years contribute to the big calves? Then, once they lose the weight, after keeping it off and being "lighter" might the leg muscles adjust size after a year or two?
-
I also have huge calves... Have you ever measured yours? Mine are 17 inches and I hate them. They are my most unfavorite part of my body! I think I read somewhere that stretching can lengthen the calf muscle and at least make it look less bulky by stretching it out. I don't know if that is true or not. I run, and I don't…
-
I am so glad you asked this question! I have some very sexy looking thigh muscles developing (the quads especially) but I am really afraid of having huge calves - they are already 17 inches!! I love running, but I don't want to have huge legs. :/
-
OP here. Thank you for all your replies! It is interesting to see everyone's stance on drinking and wellness. I find a lot of joy in having good times with friends - and the pursuit of happiness is what drives me towards my fitness goal every day. However, too often, the "good times" involve alcohol, and I am the type that…

OH MY... this is genius! I cannot wait to try this little sneaky water trick!

Maybe too much computer monitor?? What aspect of MFP do you suspect is contributing? The calorie restriction? Exercise?

I think the "worst thing you can do for your joints" is to stay fat, and if running helps you get the fat off, then thats whats good for the joints. Side note - I had a terrible lower right back pain last week. Went for a run anyways - when I finished, my back pain was gone and never returned. I've also had other minor…

-Goal (and when you started toward this goal) Goal weight: 165 Starting weight: 249 -Weight/Height/Age/Gender (also mention weight at start of diet) Currently 215 -- 5' 9" -- 38 -- Female (starting weight 249) -Caloric and macronutrient targets (also open up your diary) According to MFP, I need 1200 a day to lose 2 lbs a…

I have had quite a few "breaks" this month, which I do take responsibility for. We had a death in the family which threw me off quite a bit, and there were a few too many weekend "splurges" too. I don't know for sure if it all accounts for my lack of weight loss this month, but, I think in part it affected it. As far as…

I don't understand how this concept of high/low cals works. If this logic worked, then, wouldn't it be a knife that cuts both ways? Can't it backfire and work the opposite way, too? As in, you eat LOW cals, your metabolism drops. Then, you do HIGH cals, and your lowered metabolism barely touches those extra ones? I dunno?
