To the poster who asked what I am doing... I am exercising - have been since day one. Turbofire, and lots of it - 6 days per week. It is exhausting, though, and after over 2 months of this, I am feeling burned out, but still have 60 lbs to go. So, although I WANT to reduce exercising, I am afraid to stall my weight loss. I…

Whenever the topic of starvation mode comes up, I thank myself for all the "screw ups" I've lamented over the weeks, because I think those episodes have kept me OUT of starvation mode and caused me to consistently lose.

Try to sleep on your back whenever possible. I have one big wrinkle on the side of my face, under my eye socket - only on my right side. It is from sleeping with my face all bunched up on my right shoulder at night. Its been hard, but I'm trying to sleep on my back now, face up. Repetitive motion is responsible for most…

Thanks everyone, these posts help alot. I have made it another hour and I even went downstairs to get a cup of tea.

It really does only take a moment to change your life - every time you are faced with the decision whether to eat wrong or not, choose not to! I am struggling tonight - I am past my cut-off time, and I am choosing NOT to go down to the kitchen and snack!!! It is a choice!

Mmtiernan - I don't mind lifting slow, its all the talking in between that gets to me. Maybe its a little too easy for me? Maybe I should move to the middle phase and see if I like it better? Maybe I'll give it another try today (chalean extreme). I am a busy mom of 3 and every minute counts in my day.

Mmtiernan: As far as what I am looking for, I am looking for a resistance training routine I can do weekly to supplement my Turbofire cardio sessions. I want something for my back, arms, chest, upper legs, core. I would like to do it Mon-Wed-Fri, and I only have access to dumbells. I want it to be under 30 minutes. Does…

Cwdanley - are you saying, just do that one squat/press combo, maybe 3 times per week, for example? Would that be enough resistance training? Then maybe I could add some more exercises later? I have learned a few exercises I like from the DVDs - but they just move toooo slowly, the music stinks, some of the exercises I do…

You could do a 500 calorie workout and then cut 400 calories from your diet tomorrow - I do things like that to counteract my slips. It is a strategy I would only use occasionally though. I actually enjoy the challenge of making sure my calories "balance" every few days. Its like a puzzle. ;) Whatever you do - don't let…

I have gotten almost no compliments or comments yet after 20 lbs and 2 months of busting my *kitten*. After reading some of these, I guess thats a good thing.

You know, that is a truly scary milestone - when you finally realize that the self destructive habits that used to "work" for you don't work anymore. What now???
-
Don't bother with MGD 64 - it is so watered down you'll need 12 to even feel it. My personal favorite is Michelob Ultra -4 or 5 of those babies and I'm flying like a G6. ;) I need to also add - I haven't had a drink since Mar 6 and the weight has been FALLING off in 3 lb hunks, I swear. I didn't realize how much alcohol…

I like: 1 can Rotel (diced tomatoes w/green chiles) 1 can refried beans 1 can chicken 1 can your favorite beans (kidney, chili, black, whatever) 1 can chicken broth (If I don't have this, I"ll just add a cup of water and a beef or chicken boulion cube) Also, if I have leftover taco meat, I'll throw that in the pot, too. :)

Wow - according to MFP my maintenance calories at my goal weight are like 2000 per day! That seems crazy.... can I really eat that much and maintain my goal weight? Hard to believe.
-
Gavin - what time do you go to bed?? Brendansmom - after reading your post, I think I might try harder to make the 8:30 time work. Thanks guys - any other thoughts welcome.

What exactly is "Metabolic Resistance Training" and can someone give an example of a session of this? How many minutes long is a session in this method? Is it similiar to circuit training, where you alternate cardio bursts with weight lifting bursts?

Thanks so much for the suggestion of adding protein to the carb for the pre/post workout snack. Why didn't I think of that???
-
Gosh - thought I had the balls to post it, decided I don't. :/

Ahhh, very interesting. I do not take any meds, but I do take a multivitamin. I do have a problem with mid afternoon eating, so I am thinking I may make that my fiber drink time! Good point about it sitting like a rock while I am inactive during the night! Any suggestions for a drink? Is metamucil good?

Thanks Robert. I am wondering, also, what insulin resistant folks should be doing before and after workouts in terms of eating or drinking. Should we be drinking or eating something small before a workout to give us some fuel? Or, because our sugar levels run high anyways, perhaps we don't need to bother with that. And as…

So no one else is interested in workout tips for people who are 50+ lbs overweight? I will continue to research the areas that I want clarification on and share my findings here as I come across the info.

You guys are all such wonderful, beautiful people - and I feel inspired to continue - it won't last forever, I'm sure - but this post has lifted me up. I know one thing - I am not using MFP to its full potential. I don't log anymore, and I have friend requests out the wazoo that I've never responded to - I have been…

Can you guys tell me more about the program? Does it come with a schedule? Are the sessions very long? Can I do it alongside other cardio dvds? (cardio addict here- must do cardio 5 times per week at least)

This is such a great question. I think height and previous pregnancies have a lot to do with this. I am 5' 9", have had 3 children, and I"ve lost 17 lbs. I went from a very TIGHT size 18 to a very loose 16 (14s are still too tight to wear or invest in yet) I hate being in between sizes.
-
Ha ha! I do the same thing - I have my husband look at the number and then we play our little "games" with the information. It ends up being like 20 questions. Oh well. Yeah - I'm going to try to stay off now until Easter Sunday! At any rate - this Lenten scale diet has at least taught me not to weigh daily - weighing…

Thanks everyone - I think I may stick with 1500/day then, and eat back any exercise cals. Not sure what to do about the exercise yet - still pondering.

How would I design my own metabolic resistance training regimen with handweights and a treadmill?
-
Metabolic resistance training - could you elaborate on what that is, exactly? How is a workout like this designed? I do TurboFire- does all that punching and kicking count at all towards "strength training"?

Thanks! I will read the article and post back with any questions. Your knowledge is impressive.
