  • SheilAnne, I am starting way higher than I should as well, actually I am right where I was when I had my first (she was unplanned, but couldn't be happier with her ♡, my husband and I had a contraception fail). I was convinced I would end up with eclampsia or gestational diabetes due to my weight, but thankfully everything…
  • Started a deepwater fitness class at the Y, also doing some circuits on Jilliam Michaels No More Trouble Zones and walking. I was previously doing Insanity and ChaLean Extreme, might get back to ChaLean but I think I will shelf Isanity for now, I just am not up to all that jumping, lol
  • Fasting, haven't made it to the gym yet. But will start going back this week in shaa Allah. Last year I didn't do much cardio, but stayed on top of weight lifting
  • Usually exercising about an hour before iftar works well, just take it easy and see what worKS best for you
  • Thank you for posting this!! I have had some good experiences working out, and I love following fit hijabi posters on Instagram also :)
  • I just finished the first week, and I've seen some inches lost, but no lbs lost. I've done Insanity, and prior to Max 30 I just finished a round of Chalean Extreme - and honestly this is a bit harder than either of those (I the amount of weight I could lift increase nicely with CE, but man those tricep dips in Tabata…
  • It is really hard to say, because so much will depend on how many breaks, how much effort, and so on. HRM is a good measure, or you could go with aerobics high impact or circuit training for a ballpark
  • I don't do low cal, fat free, etc, especially since what often replaces the fat and calories is tons of sodium or other stuff that isn't healthy, to make it still taste somewhat palatable. I prefer made from scratch items, or whole foods like fruits. Yes, it took a while to prefer an apple with peanut butter to a cookie,…
  • I would love info if there is a group, I am starting this week (should arrive on or before the 6th)
  • السلام عسيكم The group itself isn't very active, although it would be fun to change that, with daily support and challenges :D I do log daily though, and I love having active friends on here - anyone can add me
  • I did a quick internet poke to see what is out there, and found this, which looks extremely useful as it lists food items that would be good to consume, and you could maybe use that as a grocery guide? :) It comes from a fertility clinic, and it lists how many portions per day of each food group from the list.…
  • Salam, I am so happy to see this thread, and also to read back over it. Ramadam Mubarak all <3 <3
  • It's important. Not important for superficial reasons such as "I need someone who is ripped" (I don't) or "I need someone that is skinny" (I don't care so much), but because I want someone that is healthy and will be around, inshallah, for a long time. We have no guarantee on how long we'll live, but it's nice to know the…
  • I tend to save my favorite for last, but I the majority of time I eat at home and prepare my own meals which means I do like everything on my plate (I love veggies and fruit and healthy foods anyway). I measure out my portions, so I don't have more on my plate than I'd eat anyway.
  • I have a close friend that had a similar situation, he was not happy that during the few hours that the baby was sleeping, his wife was not getting the ton of housework done. Until his wife pointed out that he has what she termed "head space" during the commute, 2 15 minute breaks at work, plus a lunch hour. She didn't…
  • Words have power, and obese is so much more emotionally charged of a term than is overweight. Why is that? It's because we, as a society, have taken the weight category termed "obese" to be so much of a negative that the stigma attached to it is now often a part of the struggle and shame that leads to the emotional states…
  • I love tuna ^.^ especially with cucumbers, tomato, loads of lettuce and a slice of munster in between one slice of bread and one slice of romaine. Toss a few avocado oil kettle chips IN the sandwhich and you have a pretty good meal for under 400cal

  • Hmm, whether or not it is a snack or a meal I guess depends on when you eat it and if you're full afterwards. That said, it is entirely semantics and what you call it doesn't really affect it, beyond maybe some sort of mental affect on your feelings of satiety. Sometimes I have a shake as a snack (generally almond breeze…
  • I converted to Islam after years of reading and studying the religion, but I have 7 tattoos (had them prior to conversion), love metal (think doom metal, folk metal, etc not Motley Crue) and gothic music and creepy crawly things.
  • venti frappucinos with extra whip and drizzle :-O ..... with an espresso brownie on the side. Now a tall frappucino light is a rare treat and I love making my own coffee at home and savor it (freshly ground each morning, half coffee half steamed milk, bit of cinnamon)
  • I have a LOT of friends that have had success with New Rules of Lifting for Women, and so I'd recommend it as well. The video recommendations were tossed out there because honestly I can't seem to do fitness from a book, I have to have something to actually watch to stay on track :)
  • Chalean Extreme really helped me out when I first started lifting, for at home workouts. It's a bit pricey, I thought it was worth it though. Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones is great also, but it's low weight high rep, so it will only take you so far (you won't build much strength, but your endurance for lifting…
  • I tend to do oil and vinegar, or sometimes I'll do salad dry with something like avocado or cheese on it. I know you said you like creamy - if you like a Mexican food type taste try mixing 2tbsp sour cream (around 50cal) with salsa and putting that on top :) I do fish taco salads this way and it's delicious
  • I don't really use this feature, although I have joined a group of people from the same state, just to discuss local healthy eats, found a team last year for the Dirty Dash, discuss gyms, etc, but as far as support on the website, I don't care where people live :)
  • It can be creepy, especially while on the aductor/abductor, lol, but honestly people are people and whatever, eyes wander, just don't be a weirdo and if you notice she has seen you looking do the polite thing and nod or smile and look away.
  • The only time I've deleted is if I've noticed extremely unhealthy mindset/behaviors with no want to change them on behalf of the person (example, pointing out they've consistently been eating under 1,000 or so calories (unless they're directed to do so by a medical professional) and they are not willing to even hear that…
  • Would you be willing to open up your diary so we can get a better idea of your diet? It's different for everyone, but I can definitely say that exercise, including strength training, can help reduce blood pressure over time. Swimming is a good bet as well. And, believe what you like, but things like cinnamon, apple cider…
  • Oh hey, I forgot this group is here :) I'm Kiki, and I've been on this ride for a while, dropped 75lbs, but seem to have trouble getting any lower, and I really would like to. I guess I shouldn't complain as I've maintained at this level for 3 years, but I don't know what is preventing me from busting through it into…
  • Beautiful in all of them, difficult to compare due to the outfits and positions but photo 1 and photo 2 look better than 3 imho, although 3 looks good also :-)
  • Whey Factors is my favorite <3
