We cook what our teenage boys will eat. Lots of meat, potato, fried stuff..etc. Everything a growing teenage boy will scarf down, ask for more and be hungry in an hour. So.... I eat the same stuff but smaller portions. The days when I could eat 1500 cals multiple times a day are long gone. Now it's about CICO and I control…

Just started my bulk last week. Already seen improvements in my lifting capacity. Started at 187 and got my normal 3lb water weight increase (I'm 5'11"). Figure I'll run the bulk until I can't fit comfortably in my 33" jeans (maybe around 200ish or so). Worst case I could always run a mini-cut for a week or 2 and then get…

Yes, I know you're not being serious but I've been waiting to use this B)
-
^^^sounds like you healed up nicely and are ready to make some gainz!

1. I think it depends on how much BF you put on during your bulk. 1 lb a week for 8 weeks should show something. You might even consider a slower lose of 1/2 per week to help preserve the LBM you put on. 2. Not sure on the first part, it's probably subjective. Yes, I keep with the same weight, volume drops off. It's kind…

That's....just beautiful....oh wow, just beautiful! Tears of joy!

Well, the fam and I like MP combat powder cookies and cream. 2 scopes is 280 cals and 50 grams protein. When I mix it with milk (water normally) it reminds me of a vanilla milkshake. Even the wife likes it and she's fairly picky about taste.

Hmmm, I thought it was high bar or low bar squats :D

Go forth for the gainz!!

Nice calves?! Hell, those are calves of THUNDER!

Well, there's a whole lot you left out. Age, goals, current program, etc. Jump over to this thread and you'll see most of the dedicated powerlifters: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10315462/squat-bench-deadlift-snatch-c-j-post-your-best-videos/p1 Or, if you're interested, there's a dedicated site I belong…

I've not thought about using a box to stand on because the height is right for me where it's at. If someone shorter than me, say 5'5", has a sticking point around mid shin level and the bar can't go lower you'd have to stand on something to get below the knee.
-
No, there's not a set height that I'm aware of. Some start below the knee and some above. Different sticking points. I'm 5'11" and the rack I use puts the bar about 2 inches below my knee. If I wanted to start at a lower position I'd have to get on a box. Higher is easy, just move the bar up a notch.
-
Not saying it's correct but the only thing I can think of as to why they would do that is to get into a different starting position if he's short. BTW never heard of them or seen them done.

I have my phone with me and use a timer. First 2 working sets are usually a 3 min rest break with 4 for the last set. Although I will also say on the 1+ week it's mainly 4 mins across all sets. I'm old school and find using the pen and paper method easier than trying to use an app, but that's just me.

Yeah, that's the nice thing about bib.com, it sets everything out and even lets you know what to put on each side of the barbell. You should have seen me one day knowing I needed 245 for a top set but forgot my sheet at my desk and I'm trying to "think" what plates go on each side (rolling the eyes). Felt rather…

If you're interested in what the workout looks like here's my journal on 531 http://www.iron-sanctuary.com/forums/index.php?topic=1220.1545 Right now I'm on cycle 15, although I have more than 15 under my belt (long story). Also, while it's not an app blackironbeast.com is an online calculator for 531 and beyond 531 (plus…

Did you jump from maintenance or a deficit to surplus? The reason I'm asking is that when I go from a deficit to even maintenance there's a couple lbs of water weight that show up in just a day or 2. That 5lb in 9 weeks may include water weight from increased carbs. Personally, I'd say 2lbs a month is pretty good.
-
I think I counted 13. Call me superstitious but I can't stop at 13........
-
Yep, I enjoy the program quite a bit. Currently on cycle 15. I've got more cycles under my belt on 531 but used to restart the numbering if I switched programs. Stopped doing that as it was getting a bit confusing explaining what my experience was with the program. Usually switch programs 1 or 2 times a year for 4-6 weeks…

Wendler 531 which is basically upper/lower 4x/wk.

X2! Plus, impressive the way you just bounce off the bench when done!

If you're switching from 531 because you want a 3 day program you don't need to move to another program. There is a template for 531 for a 3 day workout schedule. Halfway down the page on blackironbeast.com you'll see an option for 3 or 4 days a week. To your question about SL5x5. It's marketed as a beginner program and…

That's what I plan on doing. OP, we have eerily similar stats. I'm 5'11" and 188 right now and figure I'd have to drop another 10-15 lbs to get to 12-15% bf. I've also been cutting for a while but at a slower loss and I didn't start as high as you. I plan on maintenance for a month starting in Oct. Need the break mentally.…
