Yep, most likely water weight.

Darn tootin! OHP isn't 2 steps forward, 1 step back. More like 1 1/2 steps forward, 1 step back. Took me almost 2.5 years to go from 95 to a few reps at 165. Get some 10's, 5's, 2 1/2's, and 1 1/4's and that will last you a while.

The whole reason I started lifting in HS was because I was the smallest in my class. That self image of me has followed me around the whole time. I get comments from people (good comments!) essentially saying I'm built pretty good but I look in the mirror and still see that small kid. Never ending battle.....

Who would have thought a torn calf muscle would get me started in the right direction for a cut? But it has, mainly since it's causes enough discomfort I forget all about being hungry and have to remind myself to eat.

You are going to make a bit of gains with what you are doing but nothing like a proven program like quiksylver296 posted above. For us older natural lifters you need to hit each major body part at least 2x per week. A good solid program will do that and you'll be amazed at the results in 6-8 weeks.

I was wondering that myself! Son is 6'4 at 185 and still on the slender side but making progress.

And that why, at a certain point in the lifting session, I pull out my Versa grips and continue on. I'm not going to let a fatigued grip impact the rest of my posterior chain or pulling movements. Just wish I had bought the medium size instead of the large. Oh, and those deadz were only at 70% due to fatigue from squats.

Main lift did not get switched at all but some of the accessory items did. Here's an example of one week. Power days, main lift 3 mins rest between sets, 2 mins when switching lifts, accessories 75 secs between lifts. I supersetted a lot of the lifts too. Lat pulldown and rows for example. Hyper days were 75 secs rest…

48 male, consistent 4 years under my belt now, some in HS and in my 20's and 30's. 1. How long do your sessions usually last per day? Varies based on the program I'm running. Could range from 45 mins to 75 mins 2. How many different exercises do you tend to do per session/day? Varies based on program. Usually 1-3 main and…

Very true. I have most of my logs from lifting and used the weights from the last round of 531 as a basis for figuring out what to use. From there I looked at the volume and backed off, probably more than I needed to, but it set me for getting it right. I'd rather back off too much and build back up than to go overboard…

I ran PHAT last fall during bulking. I'd say it took about 2 weeks of playing around with the weights to figure out where I needed to be. A lot of that was due to the shorter rest breaks for the power days and the even shorter rest breaks for the hyper days. Once I got the weights figured out the rest of that cycle, the…

Ran PHAT when bulking. I switch to lower volume programs when dropping weight.

I ran PHAT this past fall. Is a good program too. PHUL does look interesting though......

Finally have gone a full 5 days without derailing my cut. The past 5 or so years I haven't had an issue with dropping weight, locked on so to speak, and work down to a comfortable weight. This year...yeesh! Doing fine for a day or so then it seems like I zone out and the next thing I know I've plowed through the calories…

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get into the right mindset for cutting. Not sure what's up this year as previously I've done fine. This year....dunno what's going on. Guess I just need to suck it up and get going.

That's because you don't look terrible, you look good. Strong and confident looking.

The one called out in SL is a Pendlay row. Bar starts on the floor and is returned to the floor. It's for explosive strength (or called out that way). Bent over rows usually have your hands overhand (not underhand) and the bar is rowed without touching the floor until your reps are done. When I ran SL I alternated running…

RDL works just fine in the smith machines at PF. Done those many a time. RDL has more carry over to DL that stiff legged ones do. Just another way to work the posterior chain. Not a fan of flat bench on a smith but incline bench is okay, at least for me. With my shoulder the way it is I like having a fixed plane on…

I guess I'm lucky. Most people know me at work and know I run bulk/cut cycles. Anymore if offered sweets or extra pizza and I say "no thanks" they'll say "oh, you're dropping weight". If I accept, it's "oh, bulk season". But no one comments on what I eat for the most part (unless it's sardines, most people ask "how can you…

The whining, crying, complaining "I can't do this", grouching that goes on......oh wait, never mind, that's only my internal discussion with myself prior to each lifting session.

Hmm, all I've seen in here is nice sets of shoulders....keep on at it, they look good.

So much awesomeness in here!

Cherry pie filling coffee cake.... http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/pie-filling-coffee-cake-284456 My wife makes this periodically...oh so good! Especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

I can't speak for all my contemporaries but I grew up in a rural area and we were all very active. Just about everyone played sports (small school) and worked on the farm (picking rock all day or moving gated pipe). Cleaning...woof, that takes me back. Saturday's, after setting water, was house cleaning. Move ALL the…

Same here. I got overweight by extra helpings of meat. In fact, when my wife and I'd go out with new'ish friends and they'd ask about dessert my wife would say "an extra helping of meat is my husbands dessert". Really, the only desserts I have are around Christmas since homemade sugar cookies are in abundance and…

Slowing down, way down and am contemplating a short deficit phase. Hit 212 waaayyyyyy too fast but it sure was fun!

Is the eczema down? My middle son used to get it bad when younger. Much better now he's in HS but there is the occasional flare up. Can't recall exactly what the ointment was but I know it had a prescription strength topical steroid in it. When he was really little like 4 he asked what it was, not sure why but I responded…

It's been a while since I ran/read the program (I ran it for a year) but you deload down about 20% and work your way back up. So for squats you could drop down to 85 and then work back up to 105 and see if you get past the stall. Also a bit of general guide (it's not written in stone or anything) 3 stalls, then deload. 3…
