  • Have you tried Grapeola brand grape seed oil? Has higher levels of your omega's than EVOO, a higher smoke point, tastes sweeter, and same cals as evoo. I use it for everything needing oil. Make a vinaigrette with it and taste the difference.
  • My cheat day consisted of Applebee's tonight. I ate off the "Under 550" menu, and was full. Had the steak and shrimp plate. Somehow, this healthier entree makes losing weight so much more fun.
  • I do alot of the above, but I also sometimes just mix in some garlic and/or Montreal Chicken seasoning to the eggs. Nice little flavor change without adding extra cals.
  • Yes! This is delicious. I used ground venison last time I made it. My 9 yr old and I fought to get to the dish first...hehehe
  • One of my go-to dishes: boneless, skinless chicken breasts, marinated in Italian dressing (make it yourself with Good Seasons packets, grape seed or EVOO and balsamic vinegar), then Italian season sprinkled on before grilling. The vinegar and oil in the marinade keep it from drying out, and grape seed oil is healthier than…
  • Kraft Light Ranch. Not too bad in the calories department. The flavor is pretty good, as well. My experience has led me to discard any Fat Free version, since the oils give the dressing some of it's palatability. Of course, others may disagree.
  • Ok, here's my big question. Even though the client chooses, can't you politely state that you are watching what you eat, and the chosen restaurant isn't conducive to that? If the client is worth a damn, he/she would hopefully listen and choose elsewhere to eat.
  • Yes! Two of my faves made it on the better side; Yuengling Light and Guinness Draft. Haven't tried MGD 64, but if it tastes like regular MGD, probably not bad flavor.
  • I stopped looking at the carts of the people around here. I can tell by the way they carry themselves exactly what isles they spend most of their money on. The same isles I tend to avoid. I have paid silent attention to what more of my co-workers eat, though. I laugh when one or two say they are trying to lose weight, and…
  • So, I kinda get the okra thing. I won't eat it boiled/steamed...the sliminess turns me off. However, who here that doesn't like okra, loves gumbo? Okra is a major ingredient in gumbo, and it just isn't real gumbo without it. Another veggie I swore (as a transplanted "damned Yankee") I would never eat was collard greens. To…
  • I said the same thing all my life, then a couple years back, I sat down at a country mom-n-pop restaurant. Lima beans were part of the lunch special. The way they cooked them at this place converted me instantly. So, I learned that day to not say I'll never like a certain veggie.
  • AMEN to that! MW is vegetable oil based, no eggs, and has additional spices i it. Mayo is basically just eggs, vinegar, and salt. MW lovers, unite! hahaha
  • Actually, the baking powder was an add to make them more "traditional" so it shouldn't have made much difference. Did you add more water or milk to account for the volume difference of the flax vs. egg?
  • Agreed with the other poster who said to try comparing your slice to a known slice. My son and I had a national brand frozen pizza last night, and I ate close to the label size portions. Now I know how much I ate, so I can visualize if I went to the mall food court or the local mom-n-pop pizza joint. Guesstimate off the…
  • By your standard, even regular sugar from beets or cane is not natural....
  • My go-to snack....Snickers! holy smokes, a regular bar has 280 cals. Granted, a lot of the fat is from the peanuts, so it's "good", but I had to cut out my daily snickers to a 1-2x a week reward now.
  • He! :) And yes, according to the package for the flaxseed meal, you can sub it for eggs. I did find that it had less volume than the egg would use following the directions, so just add more water or skim milk to make up for it. 1 egg = 1/4 cup volume
  • Sneak mushrooms in the meatloaf as well...chop them up and use in place of bread crumbs
  • Here's a simple, flavorful egg salad for sandwiches: 1 hard boiled egg, w/yolk 1/4 cup chopped sweet onion 2 tbsp Miracle Whip Light 1 tsp Dijon Mustard approx 3/4 cup Baby Spinach ( use as a bed on the bread, or chopped up in a chopper and mixed in with remaining ingredients) Ms Dash Table Blend to taste garlic powder to…
  • Same. With corn, peas, vidalia slice, and baby bella's for a full cornucopia of veggies.
  • Eat "forced" portion sizes, i.e. a lunch box size bag of chips, or baked vs fried versions of chips, fries, chicken, etc. and most of all, remember that you are human and if you have a bad day, just get back up, and hit reset tomorrow.
  • One of my favorite meals is a 4 oz chicken breast, grilled, a medium baked sweet potato with cinnamon, and a non-starch type veggie. Holy smokes..I am stuffed for hours. And the meal comes in around 300-400 cals depending on how I cook the chicken or if I add butter to the potato
  • Twizzlers, the 1 pound bag, the whole damned bag. And my daily 3-4 cans of regular Mt Dew.
  • I recently had surgery for my apnea (I couldn't wear the mask...made sleep worse), and post-op I lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. It was that kickstart that led me to want to keep going. I have lost a total of 26 lbs now in 6 weeks, but my pace is more steady at 2 lbs/wk. Glad to hear you are making healthy changes, and your doctor…
  • "Hawaiian chicken thighs" If you have he following: Teriyaki Raisins Pineapple Throw the chicken, teriyaki, raisins, and pineapple in th crock pot, add a little water, as needed to keep the chicken from drying out, cook on low for 6-8 hours. Last 30-45 mins, add rice to the pot, and let it cook in the liquid. Sweet, moist,…
  • Ha! Beat ya to it! That was lunch, sorta. I grilled a hamburger on a real grill, had some Sun Chips, and an apple. Damn it felt good to eat "junk" today. However, now I don't feel deprived, and dinner will be sensible enough to still come in at my goal, plus fill me up. :) Anyway, to the OP; good on ya for knowing your…
  • Don't forget: Take the dog for a walk. It probably wants you to play anyhow, and a walk is fun for a dog, and healthy for both of you.
  • Popsicle brand low fat/fat free fudge pops. 60 cals per. If you really need the chocolate, make room for it in your daily calorie budget.
  • It's actually rather easy. I cut it in half, lengthwise, scoop out the center and seeds, put in a pan with a little water under each 1/2 (meat/flesh side down). Cook at 375 for 45 mins to an hour. Let cool for a few minutes, then run a fork through the meat to get the "spaghetti". Get as much meat out of the gourd as…
  • Look at your diary, and discount the sugars that are naturally occurring (i.e. fruits and veggies in natural state). There is no way to eat healthy and stay under your sugars otherwise, IMO. Almost all fruits and veggies have some natural sucrose or fructose. For example, today, my sugar will be around 86, however 50+ of…
