I have a fitbit one and have used it almost every day for a year. I love getting good numbers and the feedback I get from my fitbit friends. They dashboard is great, it can be a real motivator to get moving. I also like the silent alarm. A gentle buzzing is a great way to wake up! That being said, I think it can help with…

I start my day with coffee and my laptop. Too much computer time first thing in the am.

Feel free to add me. I didn't make it to fit at 40, but I appear to be ready now at 46.

Do you go to costco? I've recently added Phillipine Brand coconut chips (dried young coconut) to my diary for fiber. 1.5 ounce snack is 14 grams of fiber and 173 calories.

I use a fitbit one. I would have to say that the company seems to stand by their product and easy to deal with when you have a problem. The clip for mine broke and they replaced it immediately. I don't use it for sleep tracking regularly, but I guess it could give you a rough idea if that's an issue. Do you have health…

Hey, we are practically the same age and exactly the same start weight. I added exercise to my daily routine and I eat back those calories. I started off with walking, now I do walking, Zumba and weightlifting. I lose pounds if I can to stick to 1400 net calories or under. If I eat more my habits tend to creep in the wrong…

Straight from the interwebs: "At lower intensities the body may burn 50 percent of the calories from fat, while at higher intensities it may only burn 35 percent. But at higher intensities you burn way more total calories—and more fat calories overall—than you do at lower intensities." So the answer is both exercises will…

Please be gentle with yourself. I would recommend that you go slow and steady for a good amount of time. Say 3 months? And then re-examine your goals, your tools, and your progress. I was overweight at your age and often gave up lots of times because I wanted fast results. I've come to learn that fast results are either 1.…

Target. They have several different styles and short sizes too.

mfp has a better food database and better forums. Fitbit wins for gamification.

Zumba is a lot of fun, the energy from the instructors and other class members is really motivating.

46 here. I'm loving exercise! I would never had thought I would, but I thinking I'm digging the physical challenges and the endorphins. I started out with a treadmill (that didn't help), then I got a fitbit and I really liked the feedback. I started walking tons and after a few more months I joined the gym. At the gym, I…

I'd tell myself to quit being in such a hurry to lose weight. Just accept that it takes a long while, and that's ok.

Here are a few things to try that work for me: 1. keep low cal snacks around- raw veggies are the best 2. something to drink- water, fizzy water, tea, coffee 3. go for a walk 4. plan your meals or pre-log your meals 5. don't break the chain- http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret 6. give yourself…

Yes, pretty easy, but be careful about your goal setting. Don't make it too hard too fast or you'll burn out. Yes, lots of low cal foods. You can always hit your goals by eating veggies and lean meats. Add flavor with spices and dressings. I make most of my own food and don't shop much at all in the center isles of the…

It takes a little while to get used to eating less food. Give your body a chance to get used to the changes. And yes, you can lose weight with light or moderate exercise. Heck, you can lose weight with no exercise. Logging accurately really does the trick. As far as the evening snacking goes, I would go ahead and plan a…

I tend to eat 1/2 of my calories at dinner so I often am super hungry at that same hour. I reach for veggies or small pieces of fruit. Extra fiber for me and few calories. I also might drink a fizzy water. The trick for me is to stay away from carbs like chips and bread. I always regret eating those things as snacks.

Feel free to add me as I friend. I'll cheer you on. I got a jump start to this fitness gig over the summer and am feeling strong and confident moving forward.

Thanks for the great inspiration. Besides your age, I think I'm we are weigh loss twins, pregnancy weights and crappy childhood and all. I hope to be able to rock 150 lbs this time next year!

I shake things up and listen to high energy music, some podcasts, and tv shows. Sometimes I like to use the interval settings to keep things interesting. I never am on the treadmill for more than 30 minutes at a time though. I tend to break my walking into chunks.
