  • No, that doesn't work. You can't "bank calories"....a calorie is a calorie and a day is a day. Your goal is to be reached in a 24 hour period. When you are over, you are over. Eating over is going to hinder your weight loss and so is eating under 1200. It is best if you strive to net a minimum of 1200 calories a day. There…
  • I used to be a pasta addict too. I had dreams about noodles!! Have you ever tried spaghetti squash? It only has 44 calories and 10 carbs per 8 oz. serving. Pasta has about 220 calories and 40 carbs in only 2 oz. I find it delicious and have been able to completely cut out pasta.
  • Good thing you figured that out sooner rather than later!! That is so funny!
  • How do you get your heart rate up to 160??? My resting heart rate is only 54 and the highest I can get mine is 120 or so. I would love to be able to get mine up that high so I could burn more calories.
  • Does your HRM have a chest strap? I tried a MIO and it wasn't accurate. It was one without a chest strap that didn't monitor my actual heart beat. Also...it is set with your age, weight, height, etc. isn't it? I don't think the figures on MFP are based on our specific information...I'm not positive of that though, I may be…
  • You might want to be careful using your full name on here. I have a friend who used her real name and had someone actually figure out where she lived and somehow even got her phone number...he called her! Everyone isn't here for the right reasons. There are creeps everywhere. I originally had my user name as my whole name…
  • If you are only eating 1200 calories and not eating your exercise calories you aren't eating enough. When you start netting less than 1200 calories your metabolism slows down and your body holds on to everything you eat because in essence you are starving yourself. They add back exercise calories for a reason. Eat them.…
  • I've never tried those noodles. I eat spaghetti squash instead of pasta. It has 44 calories and 10 carbs in an 8 ounce serving vs. an 8 oz. serving (a serving of pasta is only 2 oz.) of pasta being over 800 calories and 168 carbs. I will have to try these. I have tried tofu and didn't like it at all. When I stored the tofu…
  • Don't think of this as a "diet". The first three letters of diet...D-I-E!! A diet is a temporary thing....it has a beginning and an end. A diet is full of restrictions and leads to frustration. This is a lifestyle change. A whole new way of living. It is something you can continue the rest of your life that doesn't leave…
  • I heard that the low carb, high protein diet puts you into keto acidosis....which is not a good thing. You can get test strips to check for that. It is definitely hard on your kidneys. My dad did the Atkins diet years ago and it damaged his kidneys. With you already having kidney problems, there is no way I would do the…
  • I use a HRM and create my own exercise in the database. I know you said you don't have a HRM. I guess (according to other posts) it's in the database. It is well worth it to invest in a HRM. I have a polar FT4 and it only cost $70. It works great! It is a great investment.
  • I watched the first few minutes. An hour and a half is a long time for someone to get their point across.....sorry, but the video was a bit long for me. I must have ADD because I can't pay attention to something that long. Sorry.
  • I have a Polar FT4. I love it. It stores your last 10 workout sessions so you can track your progress. It allows you to enter in your weight, height, age,etc to be more accurate. It has a chest strap and I even use it in the pool. It is great and was under $70 on Amazon. I love it....it does everything I need it to...keeps…
  • For me personally, if I repeatedly go over in carbs and fats it slows down my weight loss and raises my cholesterol. I don't believe that if you stay under just your calories "everything is ok". You could eat 1200 calories in bacon or pasta in a day! That would not be ok. There are limits on our nutritional goals for a…
  • Does the HRM you got have a chest strap?
  • I use 21 seasoning salute too! Trader Joe's is out of town, so I buy 3 or 4 bottles at a time!
  • Search on here for "starvation mode" and "exercise calories". There have been some good posts on this subject. It is often a very controversial topic. There have been some good posts on this.
  • Yes, your NET calorie intake should be 1200, 1300....whatever you set it at. For example: if your calories are set at 1200 and you burn 300 that is a net of 900. Therefore, you need to eat back 300 calories to make your net 1200. Some people say not to eat back exercise calories, but my doctor and dietician told me to. You…
  • I'm pretty sure the figures it shows are based on your current weight. The best thing to do is get a heart rate monitor. They are set to your age, sex, and weight and are much more accurate. I got one and was very surprised that the figures MFP was giving me were very inaccurate....not all of them, but a lot of them.
  • I'm in Kokomo. Send me a friends request if you want to. I'm always looking for more people to add to my support network.
  • We can't help you if we can't see your food and exercise diaries. Make it public so I can see it and I will see what's going on and let you know if anything jumps out at me.
  • Eating too many carbs will make it difficult to lose weight. I customized my goal numbers because MFP had my carbs way too high and my protein way too low. I have my carbs set at 45% and my protein set at 35%. This is within the RDA. Another thing is that 1200 calories may not be enough calories for you. I plateaued when…

  • A sugar is a sugar. Fructose (fruit sugar) is still a simple sugar. Read this article. Sugars refers to ALL sugars combined, not only refined sugars. Fruits do count.
  • I can never stay under my numbers in sugars. The recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables is 9 servings. I don't see how you can eat that much and stay under. I am diabetic and even when I stay under for my carbs, I almost always go over for my sugars. I think you would have to really restrict your food intake to…
  • I got a Mio and ended up taking it back. It didn't work the way it was supposed to. I got one with a chest strap and it is very accurate. I have a Polar FT4.
  • I heard the current Wii is going to be replaced by an updated gaming system.
  • Do you have the other nutritional information for this recipe such as carbohydrates and protein?
  • NET calories is the amount of calories you have minus the calories you burn from exercise. Example: You start out with 1300 calories. You burn 300 calories from exercise. Your "net" calorie intake is 1000. Then once you eat back the 300 calories added back for exercise your net calorie intake is back up to 1300.
  • I didn't eat mine back at first either. I was only netting 700-800 calories a day. I plateaued and my weight loss came to a halt. I went almost 3 weeks without losing anything. As soon as I started eating back my exercise calories (netting 1400 calories a day) my weight loss picked right back up. I have lost 38 pounds in…
  • The 1300 calories is a NET. That means you start with 1300 calories a day. If you exercise 300 calories that will make your net calorie intake 1000. Therefore you need to eat 300 extra calories in order to net 1300. It is important you eat your exercise calories back. If your net falls below 1200 calories a day your…
