  • I didn't post the recipe to 'out do' anyone. You're the one taking that view point. I just posted it as an alternative option since it is lower in calories. To each his own.
  • $20 per half hour session (but he works with me until the routine he designed for me is done, regardless of the time it takes), 3 x a week. Unfortunately he's a 35 minute drive away, but he's worth that and so much more. I was just very lucky to have my nutritionist recommend him. He's fantastic.
  • Body Fortress products contain sucralose. Reread your label.
  • If you're looking for a low cal alfredo sauce, give this one a try. The key is finding the Green Moutain Farms Greek Cream Cheese. It's a relatively new product but is rapidly gaining traction in the marketplace. I know it can be found in Wegmans and some Walmarts at the moment. My 13 yr old thought it was one of the best…
  • I have about 40 different teas at the moment....does that make me an addict? LOL I drink them all day long. Current favorites are Hot Cinnamon Spice, Tillul and Darjeeling from Harney & Sons, Vanilla Almond from Republic of Tea, Bedtime Blend from Twinings and Tumeric Ginger from Republic of Tea. But, like I said, I have…
  • This does work but it's a heck of a lot more than 50 calories. You use 1.5 TBS each of angel food cake mix and another flavor. 1.5 TBS = 22 g. 22g of either mix is about 80 calories or 160 calories total. Not 50.
  • Meg, if you have your Link synced with MFP your predicted deficit will be the values in the 'Remaining' line of your food diary here. After you wear the armband for a few days the Link gets a pretty good picture of your daily activity and can predict what the days caloric burn will be. It generally adds in those values as…
  • Ok, will do. Thanks so much, guys!! Just so I understand, I aim for 1600 this week (4/7 - 4/13). 1700 next week (4/14 - 4/20) and stay there for 2 weeks after that (4/21 - 5/5)? And that's calories consumed? I'm ignoring exercise calories at this point, right? Or is that 1600 after exercise calories are deducted? And don't…
  • I weigh and log everything. Condiments, salad toppings...everything. If it goes in my mouth it gets weighed and logged. I don't consider it being nit-picky...I consider it being accountable. I can't complain about not being successful if I'm not being honest with intake and calorie burn.
  • And thank you for posting the link to that video. Just finished watching it. Sadly, I think he pretty much describes my situation :(. I was never as lean as he talks about though so hopefully the damage isn't quite as bad.
  • I was afraid you were going to say that. LOL But yes, I would be willing to give that a try. I agree that where things stand now, I don't have a lot to work with as far as cutting goes. That's pretty much what I've been doing and it isn't working. I do understand about the weight gain while doing so and that really doesn't…
  • Thanks, Sara! It was a roller coaster ride I don't care to take again, that's for sure. I've only started seriously tracking my intake since last August but I suspect it's been much, much longer. I joined MFP in 2011 and tried to make a go of it then but I was new to this whole weight loss thing and since I didn't know any…
  • I technically didn't drop 'another' 3 lbs. I dropped down from 132 to 128.8 from January to March. On March 7th, I upped my calories to the 1475 average and my weight went up to 130.8, hovered around there and I weighed in at the 129.4 this morning. According to the Bodymedia info, my Daily Activity average actually…
  • Protein powders without artificial sweeteners are VERY hard to find. I can't have sucralose - it reacts with medication I take and my body just can't tolerate it - so finding a powder without it has been tough. Just discovered Jay Robb the other day. No sucralose and tastes pretty good. It's a bit pricey but worth it to me.
  • This. I bought the FitBit One. Returned it within the week and bought the Bodymedia. Very satisfied customer.
  • Yup, it's fine. Mine actually runs a tad lower than that. Docs office always jokes that I'll never have to worry about having a stroke. Guess that's a good thing. If you're not having any symptoms or issues with it, then relax and consider it one less thing to worry about.
  • I've had both the Core and the Link. Started out with the Core (and display unit). While the display unit was handy, I found not having it link directly with MFP a big drawback. Having to remove the armband every time I wanted to sync the info with MFP was incredibly annoying. I used the Core device for a week before…
  • Time to think outside the box. There is no rule that says you have to have 'breakfast' food (cereal, eggs, oatmeal, etc). For me, it depends on what time I eat. If I eat early, say before 9am then it's cottage cheese plus a typical breakfast-type item but if I eat later (like today) then it's whatever I have on hand with…
  • Yup. Remington 870 and Taurus 9mm. Fun times :).

  • I did have the display unit and it helped, but I wanted to see the info linked with MFP and to do that you need to removed the Core device and manually sync it.
  • All I can speak to is my experience with both devices.
  • By intensity I mean the Bodymedia's ability to measure skin temp and conductance.
  • This was my experience as well. I wore both the FitBit and the Bodymedia device for several days. The FitBit consistently over-estimated my step count by a good 500 steps and under-estimated my calorie count by about 130 cals each day. As an additional measurement, I wore my HRM, Fitbit and Bodymedia and hopped on the…
  • I'm not saying it's a bad device. It certainly has it's place, especially if you do step-based exercise. I don't doubt you get different numbers for running a mile versus walking a mile because your stride would be different. But I'm still not convinced it can measure intensity. My understanding is that it takes your…
  • My metabolism runs 11% under what it should for my age/height/weight. The FitBit figures caloric burn based on that information. Since I don't fall into the 'average' person statistical group, the numbers aren't accurate for me. As far as the TDEE issue, the FitBit doesn't have the capacity to measure intensity. It only…
  • It depends on what you're looking for in a device. If you do primarily step based exercise and only want to know your calorie burn then you might be satisfied with the FitBit. It estimates caloric burn based on algorithms using your height, weight, age etc. It you primarily do exercise other than step-based: videos,…
