  • Depends on how low your calorie goal is really. One day here and there isn't a big deal. If you have a very low calorie goal and are consistently under, in the long run you may see problems arise.
  • My current favorite is Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice. I only use German Rock Sugar in my tea. It sweetens the tea without altering the taste. My bff thinks it's plenty sweet on it's own and drinks it plain. Other good ones I've found are some of the White Lion flavors: Ginger/Peach, Fireside and Moroccan Mint. Someone…

  • The other problem is that depending on how active the forum is, topics scroll off the 'Recent Posts' listing and the first page of the individual topics pages very quickly. A lot of folks tend to look at the first page and then move along. I think you'll have more interest as folks become more aware of it. You posted a lot…
  • A lot of work for you, but a great idea and one I'd appreciate your taking the time to do :).
  • I don't think folks are questioning whether or not the method will work. I think they're questioning the wisdom of it. The doc made no mention (unless the OP failed to relay that in her post) of any type of monitoring/follow-up care/guidance other than to drop down to 750 cals. The OP also brought up valid concerns, which…
  • Because common sense would dictate that there are much better options that should be explored before resulting to such drastic measures. And that one doctor's opinion may not be the be-all, end-all authority on the matter. Getting a 2nd opinion is never a bad thing.
  • Doctors are not nutrition experts. Certainly some may be more versed in nutrition and weight loss than others but it doesn't appear that yours is one of them. Just because you CAN subsist on 750 cals a day doesn't mean you should, and the reasons not to are many. I went in to see my internist last week to seek nutrition…
  • I can count on two hands the number of alcoholic drinks I've had in my lifetime. It just isn't something that appeals to me. I don't care for the taste at all.
  • And we have a winner! You're only the 2nd person to have any idea. She says you 'Rock!!' LOL
  • We're WTF here as well.
  • This is my little one this year. Points to anyone who can guess who she's dressed as...
  • LOL! The thing is, how do I know that a chubby nutritionist and trainer aren't following their own advice and yet they're still chubby? Do I really want to invest time and money working with them to find out that they are out of shape/overweight because they don't really know what they're taking about? Not really. If I had…
  • Interesting that you quoted that particular part of my post above, but selectively left out this part of it:
  • In a field with so many different trains of thought of what's right/wrong, what works/what doesn't, what's acceptable/or not I'd have a hard time following the advice of someone who didn't walk the walk. What would I have to base any level of trust that they knew what they were talking about on? Now, agreed that a thin and…
  • No, it may very well be an HRT she is taking. If her tumor wasn't estrogen-receptive then she wouldn't be put on an 'anti-hormonal' drug as you are referring to. Not everyone takes adjuvent therapy.
  • It most definitely will get worse before it gets better. This whole Benghazi debacle is one big cluster ****. From someone who was in Benghazi and personally saw the emails and video feed, 'this is the biggest cover-up in our lifetime'. Obama, Panetta and Biden saw everything as it happened. There was no 2 hr/4 hr delay.…
  • I don't know that cancer was necessarily rarer 100 yrs ago. I wonder if maybe they've just gotten better at discovering/diagnosing it with the medical advances that have been made. Another reason it may seem more prevalent is that people of that era often didn't talk about such things. And with the advent of cell phones…
  • As far as the chest pain and throat tightness, my first thought was asthma as well. There is such a thing as exercise-induced asthma that is otherwise not bothersome but affects people only when they exercise/exert themselves. Definitely something to talk with a doc about.
  • Lost a number of family members to various forms of cancer :(. I was diagnosed in early 2009. Spent the rest of 2009 and the first half 2010 riding the chemo/radiation roller coaster. I'm now 2 1/2 of 5 years into adjuvent therapy. Hate what the meds do to me but it sure beats the alternative :). Life is good.
  • According to the USDA, 1 cup of pumpkin seeds = 129 grams. http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/3596
  • Here's mine from yesterday. I generally try to hit my calorie goal and usually get closer than this but I'm fighting a cold and the appetite just isn't there. *Edited to fix pic. <--which apparently I can't manage to do (LOL) but you get the idea.
  • I mix in some crushed pineapple.
  • I'm 5'6" with a medium frame and currently 134 lbs. I don't necessarily want to lose any more but I still have a fair amount of fat so I"m still working on it. I'm assuming something around 125 lbs would be about right for me.
  • Romney
  • I do Tae Kwon Do rather than Muay Thai but I can tell you that lifting is making a difference for me. I started lifting about a month ago and can already see a difference in the strength of my roundhouse kicks.
  • Any 'quality control' tasting done during cooking.
  • But how many of you have your very own portal to Platform 9 3/4?? ;)
  • You can have whatever you like. What you do or don't eat is up to you. But staying within your macros is a good idea. You may find now though that that once tasty cheeseburger is no longer quite as appealing as it once was. After watching what I eat and making better choices for the last couple of months I find I can no…
  • I made this one for the first time last night for dinner tonight (Recipe says it takes 10 hrs. I don't know that you necessarily need to let it go that long but it definitely tasted better the longer it simmered). Had a little nibble before putting it away and it's yummy!! Just FYI: the broth is a bit more like a vegetable…
