  • This is a chart for general troubleshoooting. Based on your post it looks like you are in the 2nd blue box from the top, ie you are not weighing all your food and/or you are not logging consistently.
  • If you eat everything, why can't you cook and eat vegan meals?
  • Have a look at this for some basic troubleshooting. Hope it helps!
  • When I take an exercise break I often see a drop on the scale due to water weight, as muscles tend to hold on to water to repair when I've been working out hard. An exercise break won't address why you have stalled, however. Stalls lasting more than a month can generally be attributed to errors in logging ie unknowingly…
  • Did you eat 77000 calories over your maintenance? Because that's what you would have needed to eat to gain back the 22 pounds you lost. You ate 5 donuts and some chicken nuggets, that barely counts as a cheat for many of us around here. :) Have you logged the calories you ate? It takes 3500 calories over maintenance to…
  • How many calories is it giving you, and what is your height/weight? My phone has a step counter also, but the calories seem a bit high to me. This morning I walked to the shops and back, around 9000 steps, and it came up with 300 calories. I weigh 61kg. I ended up making a custom exercise entry for steps that gives me…
  • If this is what's working for you, then great! I'm on 1200 calories, and am someone who is most satisfied when I get to eat big, rich meals, which you can't really do when you're splitting 1200 calories across 3 meals throughout the day. Since I started my new job I've found that I'm most satisfied when I go the day…
  • I'm going out tonight too, and I've already pre-logged my order plus drinks. I managed to bank some exercise calories during the week and will also do a workout today to make it fit, plus I'm not going to eat much during the day so I will enjoy it even more as I will be hungry! :D Have you tried actually logging an…
  • Oh yeah. I have small thighs and butt and a nice small waist at 61kg, but still have big boobs, upper back fat and flabby upper arms which still gives me a 'chubby' look from the waist up :(
  • It's a myth the way most people around here refer to it. If you still have fat on your body, you're not 'starving' because your body can use those reserves. I mean, it's not healthy, and you'll probably lose a fair bit of muscle too as well as organ function. But you won't 'hold on to fat' or anything like that. Actual…
  • So you aren't really weighing everything, therefore you're in the second blue box of the flowchart and not the red circle. The good thing is, this is way easier to fix than a medical condition! Weigh your potato, weigh your cheese, weight your butter, weigh EVERYTHING! This video shows an example of how approximations and…
  • To scam people out of their money. We say negative things about weight loss pills because at best they do next to nothing and at worst they could be harmful to your health. Everyone wants to find an easier and faster way to lose weight, which is why these 'diet pill' companies are able to keep making money. Many of us on…
  • Why do you NEED to lose 20lb to go on the cruise? Are you afraid the boat will sink? :D
  • I usually log any steps above 5000 :) Just make sure your estimates are reasonable, many pedometer calorie estimates seem a bit high to me. To be safe I usually only log around 150 calories per 10000 steps.
  • The macronutrient ratios don't have any bearing on weight loss, it's all about calories. The default settings are just a guideline, many people adjust them according to personal preference. You may want to aim for a higher protein goal if you plan on lifting weights. Carbs definitely don't make you gain, but personally I…
  • But the relative weight of muscle vs fat isn't what's wrong with that claim. What is wrong is the idea that they have gained muscle in the first place on a calorie deficit, and probably not doing any strength training. Muscle does weigh more (by volume) and theoretically someone could weigh the same, but have a body…
  • I think it's stupid to think that that statement could mean anything else than 'by volume, muscle weighs more than fat. Do you think people read that and think it means that a pound weighs more than a pound? It is far more misleading to say 'muscle does not weigh more than fat'.
  • Agreed. I feel like people pointing it out as a 'myth' or 'false' are just being pedantic. We all know what you mean when you say 'x weighs more than y'. Nobody is going around thinking that a pound of one thing weighs more than a pound of something else (at least not after giving it 5 seconds of thought) because that is…
  • My sister apparently read somewhere (and now believes) that tequila helps you lose weight... somehow... :|
  • Drink whatever tea you like. It doesn't do anything for weight loss.
  • It's water. You don't need pills, it'll come out on its own. Maybe check your sodium levels if you think you're retaining too much, I also find that high levels of carbs, carbonated drinks, and things with artificial sweeteners tend to make me bloat.
  • You should quit eating meat if you care about anima welfare and the environment more than your personal taste and nutrition preference, but it won't help you lose weight unless your new diet happens to contain less calories than your current one.
  • Here is a good starting point for troubleshooting :)
  • But... how do you know how many calories it is if you don't weigh or measure? You can't count something when you don't know how many there are! Check out this video that outlines why you should weigh your food. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjKPIcI51lU
  • I will add though that I do believe in body positivity, which means that regardless of health risks I believe that nobody should be treated with disrespect or made to feel less worthy because of their size. I have several gorgeous, plus-sized lady friends who are happy, healthy, and absolute BABES, and it seems crazy to me…
  • I was typing out a long response to the OP, then happened to scroll up and read this and it pretty much sums up how I feel wayyy more eloquently so now I'm just gonna quote your post instead :P
  • Probably because OP has already mentioned the impulse to purge, and because exercise bulimia is a thing, and we don't want her to feel like she HAS to go to the gym to work out and get rid of every extra calorie? She already works out. I believe it is much healthier to learn to forgive yourself for occasional slip-ups.…
  • No reason to go below 1200. The problem is, those containers are not going to tell you how many calories you actually are eating. Chuck the containers, get a food scale instead, and start tracking accurately.
  • This method does seem to make sense, but what would actually happen is you would get closer and closer to your goal weight and your rate of loss will get slower and slower the closer you get. For example, I weigh 60kg and my goal is 55kg. According to one online calculator, at 60 my TDEE is 1589 calories and at 55 it would…
