  • "Victory Loves Preparation" Outback & Panda express offer great calorie calculators on their websites. Another great choice is a sushi bar, California and avocado are great low-cal rolls
  • Have to say that MuscleTech-Nitrotech Hardcore Pro Series - Cookie and Cream Protein shake is by far the best tasting shake I've had, no after taste, 25g of protein, for about 130 calories with only 3g of sugar. http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4279426
  • There are scales that measure your BF%, it works by passing a small electrical current through you, measuring the resistance. Not entirely accurate, but close enough, just as scales typically have a 1-3% deviation Can find them on Amazon pretty easily.
  • MYTH: The body completely shuts off one fuel source when it turns on the other. TRUTH:What has often been misunderstood by both exercisers and exercise instructors alike is that the body relies on both fat and carbs for energy all the time, albeit in different ratios. In fact, as you sit here reading, you may be burning…
  • When I started with my personal trainer for the first time, I got so sick... I was puking in the bathroom at the end. But I still fell nauseous after a workout, from what i read there are several things that affect feeling nauseous after a workout. Bottom line, be hydrated, eat a small meal about an hour before, and don't…
  • Drinking something will definitely help. Eating smaller portions at first was a huge hurdle for me, what helped me get through a day at work was to break up my lunch over a few hours, I ate my string cheese at about 10am, my sandwich at noon, and then my yoghurt at 2pm. Took about a week for my stomach to shrink and get…
  • I usually don't, but on occasions I do when I don't get enough potassium. I thought I was having a heart attack once, heart was skipping beats erratically, after an overnight at a hospital, I found that I had deficiency in potassium. So when ever my heart starts skipping beats, I up my potassium, and it goes away. There…
  • "Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, bans unapproved claims for products that are intended for curing, mitigating, treating, or preventing of diseases." I personally think they should ban a lot more crap that is advertised as healthy when it is not, It is ethically and morally wrong to intentionally mislead people. FDA…
  • You do realize why it is illegal right? If it works so well curing cancer then there should be no problem with providing proof.
  • That "Article-Advertisement" is a bit misleading, jknops2 said it all I've eaten healthy and with in portions for a month and dropped 31 lbs, 1700 cals a day is what I aim for, and nutritionally i shoot for 45% Protein, 45% Carb, and 10% fat a day.
  • Gatorade = Kool Aid+SALT "It's got Electrolytes!!" lol, good article though
  • Indianapolis here.
  • Well been on here for around a month and dropped about 28 lbs, feel free to look at my dairy, I log everything
  • Try incorporating it into some home made sushi, go light on the rice so the protein to carb ratio is high. I've made avocado rolls before with teriyaki chicken was actually pretty tasty
  • When I first joined MFP around the start of February, I wasn't really motivated at all, I was only doing it because I felt I had to do something. I had no confidence in myself. But I've been sticking with it and the longer I have.. the more motivation I get from seeing MFP pals doing well and seeing lbs drop off my scale.…
  • About a month for me, still crave things time from time, but they are usually just emotional cravings and not really hungry. But I did cheat once by getting some Chinese food after 3 weeks of eating healthy and I felt horrible, was sick to my stomach all weekend.
  • Just wanted to bump this. Thanks everyone, I have meet some awesome people on here and wanted to see if there are any more out there
  • lol, It wasn't that bad, but I was thinking it sometimes, all in all totally worth it
  • My trainer has my official weigh in on Monday since it helps keeps you on track during the weekends.. That said, I weigh my self just about every morning and record everything in a spreadsheet, but I usually see a daily loss of .7 to 1 lb. you can't really depend on that number since your body has about 6.5 +/-lbs in…
  • Yeah, I weigh every morning when I wake up, it does help show you that what you did the day before affects you today.
  • Thanks, First week was bad from hunger pains but I was able to adjust to about 2200 calories a day, I've been able to adjust down to 1700 and have been able to do that. Though I still crave stuff sometimes I've cut out soda's and most prepared processed food, been able to supplement my Chinese food addiction with home made…
  • EDIT: read your post wrong, thought you said to drop 150 in 4 months... 65 in 4 months is doable.. 16.25lbs/mo or 2000 calorie deficit a day
  • Hey Tim, I just started MFP 2-3 weeks ago too, and I was close to 450. MFP suggested that I eat 2200 as well but after my stomach to get used to eating that much, and not growling as often, I started setting the limit at 1700, some days I eat about 1200-1300 calories but don't fell like I'm starving. If you haven't already…
  • ah, That makes sense, got a little myopic and overlooked that side of things.
  • Well... Haven't you set up your goal/profile.. it should give a rough estimate... But if you want to calculate your BMR then there are several formulas around the web you can find... even the tools on this site.
  • I bought 'Your Shape' as well, I have to say... even though it might frustrate you that it might think your not doing an exercise correctly... it will give you one heck of a work out
