Some good sound advice has been posted. I will not give myself a day to eat whatever I want. I am trying to find balance. For me that means following my plan as much as I can but allowing myself a bit of breathing room at times. I usually try to make up for this breathing room by upping my activity that day or the next. We…

To say goodbye to the 190s. I am right at 190/189. I want to leave the 190s for good and start killing the 180s in Oct.

Thank you for sharing. I am 1 month in and love seeing success stories that show me it IS possible. You did an amazing job!!!

We eat dinner around 5:30 as well. That is a long stretch before bed and even longer until breakfast. I just leave some calories available for a snack and it seems to help. I want to lose this extra weight and keep it off. So I know I have to be able to live with these changes long term. Fighting hunger every night was…

We eat dinner early because we have young kids. I initially tried changing my evening habits. Instead of having a snack and watching TV after the kids are in bed I exercise or read a book and sip green tea. I feel it's a better use of my time, anyway. But some nights I was still really hungry and when I thought about it I…

Agree. And I hate when others tell you "Rome was not built in a day" when you are working to accomplish things and they want to justify their own laziness or lack of caring.

Meal planning is my way of surviving. I have meal planned for many, many years. I have just had to change what the meals are :) We live 20 min from closest grocery store ( although we are blessed to have some AMAZING farm stores close- too bad I can no longer eat their cheese) so there is no way I am running to the grocery…

Worst: My daughter being upset because my husband is out of country for work. Best: I let the kids take turns sleeping with me when my husband is away.

People in leader positions who are horrible leaders. People who are not involved in daily happenings then when they finally are made aware of an issue overreact and respond without knowledge or even thinking things out. People who have to constantly stroke their own egos. What REALLY irks me is when a person can be…

That is not for me. I am working on adjusting my eating and my activity levels so that I am successful not only in losing weight but in having a healthy long term way of living so I stay at a healthy weight. It has to be something I can incorporate into my life long term. I have tried different "diets" in the past and…

I want to lose 20 lbs by Christmas and will buy myself a nice outfit for holiday togethers. I want to drop another 24 by my 40th bday so I can buy another outfit and rock my 40s.

I am looking to lose 55-60. I started 3 weeks ago. I am determined to make it happen as I finally realized by choosing to not actively work to lose weight I am choosing to be obese. I think things are clicking for me this time. - I am logging everything every day. Not logging doesn't mean it didn't happen and gives me…

I had my 3rd child and returned to a nice healthy weight. I wish I could blame baby weight but that isn't what happened. We moved and I was miserable and gained 50 lbs in the last 3 years. I used to get looks and get hit on. One day I realized that had stopped.

I am 3 weeks in and happy to give/receive encouragement. Age -39 Kids- 3 Work: part time Start weight: 198 ( 195 by the time I began MFP) Current weight: 191 Goal: 140 by April ( my 40th bday). If I have to turn 40 I want to feel good about myself. 40 + fat = no fun. I have acquaintances at work and church and kid…

Dramatic people. Not in an artistic way. In a frequently angry about something kind of way and instead of choosing to handle said problem in a mature/adult fashion chooses to go over the top with emotions so everyone knows person was wronged/offended/whatever.

Great job - Thanks for sharing. I am only 3 weeks in and love seeing such success stories. I hope to be one this time next year.

I am not an expert and have no desire to hash anything out. I just wanted to throw out a perspective. I went to a cont Ed course a few years ago and the speaker said that our food is not the same as it was a few generations ago. She gave example of beef. Cows are meant to eat grass. They get certain nutrients from it. When…

CHEESE! The good stuff. Handmade Mozarella, blue cheese, Brie..... Good cheese can take a meal to a new level... but also a high level of calories.

I used to tuck my kids in at night then have a little me time, which was snacking and tv. For me that was when I made my worst food choices (quality and quantity ). I crashed and burned. I needed to rethink my me time. I decided I didn't need snacks or tv. Now I will frequently get on the elliptical or brew myself a nice…

I have been there. It sucks to constantly count/watch/limit calories. But it sucks more to be unhealthy and unhappy with your body. I have lost and gained and am tired of it. I am working hard to make this time last. Instead of just trying to lose weight I am TRYING to adopt healthier lifestyle and habits. This means it is…

My feet feel trapped and uncomfortably confined when I wear socks/shoes. It's like I have claustrophobic feet. I pull off sandals as long as I can.

I am looking forward to clothes shopping and enjoying it. I want to see something cute and have it look cute on me. I am looking forward to not having to ask myself if it "makes me look fat" ( the answer is always yes right now because I AM fat).

I am not that far into this journey but so far I am surprised that I am less tired. I am no longer absolutely dragging in the evenings. And I am getting more things done. My motivation is improving as well. I feel like tackling projects. I knew I was tired before but thought it was just because life is crazy/busy. I was…

Mom of 3 with 55-60 to lose.

Right now I am staying motivated because I am seeing it work. It isn't fun but it is less fun being overweight. So I am choosing to log. It sounds like it is working for you.

Spaghetti squash did not turn out well. I wouldn't even eat it. We went out to eat instead.
