I'm 5'2 and I want to lose 20-25 lbs. I'm going really slow because I'm also trying to gain muscle lifting weights. My instagram is @yodagetsfit

If you don't always do 5 I would go conservative and put 3 days a week. That way you don't have to feel guilty if you miss one of your work outs.
-
Yeah, I have something similar for my other days, that's why I think that the really low day followed by the high day is the key on the weight loss. Don't switch anything yet until you've tried this at least a week. Did you know that for most men 1800 calories is needed to sustain basic body function like nail and hair…

If you are not losing right now, I totally think you should give it a shot. I weigh myself on Thursdays which is the day after my highest calorie allowance day and I have consistently lost 1lb a week for almost 6 weeks. I think the trick is on having a very low day, followed by a high day, but I don't really know, I just…
-
Are you lifting those 3 days a week? You are a tall guy, it doesn't sound that high to me. You have to feed all that muscle!
-
Are you currently losing weight at 1800-2000 cals? If you are, don't do the zig zag until you hit a plateau. I'm really of the mentality that if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Just move your Saturday to Wednesday and Sunday would be Thursday which is still sort of high, then just continue the schedule, for example: Thursday 1577 Friday 1262 Saturday 1892 Sunday 1577 Monday 1419 Tuesday 1734 Wednesday 1577
-
Yes, you have that right. No need to worry about eating exercise calories back. They are already calculated in the zig-zag schedule :)
-
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your comments. There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to nutrition and weight loss, and while a lot of people are well informed, a lot of people don't know anything about it. So far your comments have been nothing but sensitive and refreshing.
-
Yes, it seems you are doing it right! Way to go!
-
Yes, you assume right. By all means I was supposed to be losing with my clean diet and exercise but my metabolism was not having it. Calorie zig-zag changed my metabolism so I started to lose weight.
-
I promise I would have been right there with you 5 weeks ago. I only did it because after a 2 month plateau I was desperate. I had little faith in it. I'm still in shock that i works. I waited 5 weeks to make the post here because I had to be sure that it does work.
-
I know! It's so hard to eat clean and get those numbers! brown rice and quinoa are super healthy and have quite a bit of calories, you could also go for lean meat cuts, fish and chicken of course. Give it a chance, you can figure out a way to make it work!
-
The zig-zag schedule has already counted your exercise so 1792 is your net number for your low day. Hope that helps!

Have you checked the "Eat more weight less" group here on mfp? For me it didn't work but I didn't gain either. It works for a lot of people that work out really hard. If you are losing weight the way that mfp has you set up then don't worry, but if you hit a plateau, give calorie zig-zag a chance. It's the only thing that…
-
You will wish you've done it earlier! ;)
-
Perfect! I really made it complicated by trying to explain how to change the daily log here on mfp, huh? hehe.
-
Sounds simple enough! For the record, my lowest day is Tuesdays at 1298 and my highest day is Wednesdays at 1936. My weigh in day is Thursday morning and I always have weight loss (yes, the day after my highest day!) Good luck!
-
Because of my hypoglycemia, I eat only natural sugar (fruits/vegetables) about 30%protein 40%carbs and 30% fats I don't obsessed about my stats though. I just set up those % on mfp and keep an eye on them
-
You know, we are all here doing our best. I know this method works and you have very little to lose, if you commit to work out the days that you have indicated in the calculations, this should help you. I"m sorry about your schedule, I know how difficult it can be. I work out at 5:30am because that's the only time that I…
-
You've got a point. I suppose you could under calculate your exercise and eat back exercise calories when you do exercise.
-
Are you eating clean? The math works but at the end of the day the quality of what we eat has the most impact. Processed foods are super high on sodium which leads to water retention and fat storage.
-
Anything specific? I will be happy to help :)
-
That's how many calories you want to eat per day. I am doing fat loss and losing 1lb a week. If I plateau I will do extreme fat loss, and once I get to my desired weight, I will eat at maintenance.
-
I'm guessing you work out quite a bit. Remember that your work outs are already taken into account so the numbers don't seem crazy to me.
-
So assuming here that you entered an approximate amount of work outs in the calculator. Yes you would ONLY eat 1700 calories on Monday. You don't add any other exercise calories.
