I do most of my exercise on keto...i.e. weight training 4 days a week, 10 km runs and 2.5 hours of ball hockey and have no trouble. The one exception is when i have a distance cycling event. If it's just me training i'll stay low carb but when the event comes I carb load for a day before and the day of because I find…

LOVE LOVE LOVE the choc chip cookie dough. I've tried a few others and none compare to that so I just stick with that. The kirkland ones from Costco are okay... the cookie dough are not as good as quest but the double choc are actually better than double choc quest. Follow me? LOL. To recap, choc chip cookie dough quest…

For those wanting the Ionic(yes i'm one but my Blaze is too new to upgrade yet)... I would suggest waiting for at least one software upgrade. I've been reading tech reviews and it sounds buggy much like every version of Windows that was ever released. I'd wait for a software update to fix the bugs and you'll enjoy it more.…

I am the same, life is too short to deny yourself the pleasure of good foods...and i'm fortunate not to have any aversions/allergies etc to worry about.

Adkins' bars and Quest bars for me.

Carb load (and ride done). It was a huge success! Started Friday night with a couple glasses of wine. Saturday morning breakfast was low carb Vega shake but had spaghetti for lunch, a beer and some garlic toast in the afternoon with my wife(kids at grandparents). Dinner was pizza and a beer. Then a bday party that night,…

That assumes it's a lifestyle for everyone and that 'need' and 'want' aren't exclusive. I could say that I don't need to carb load before my cycling event for example, but if I dont' i know my performance will suffer greatly, especially as the distance gets longer. I choose to because i'm competitive and it helps my…

Agreed...could be a slippery slope for some.

Necessary is definitely relative and debateable. I typically do it for one of three reasons. 1. Prep for a high output of physical exertion(i.e. bike race or heavy weight training session). 2. Disrupting a weight loss stall - this one is debateable but in my experience it works. 3. 'Enjoy foods I still like because life is…

I will sometimes just 'satisfy my annoying inner child' when carbing up. Let's be honest, rice, potatoes and carrots ain't exactly fun food ;) I'll be doing it this weekend prepping for a cycle race and it starts Friday with pizza for lunch and will contain some pasta and treats at my friends 50th bday party on Saturday…

Try different protein powder's....there are many good ones. If you can't do them just with water, add yogurt or milk or ice to alter the texture and use a mini blender like a magic bullet. I have one a day and a second when lifting weights. Also bars... adkins bars, quest bars...very easy and tasty sources of protein.…

Typically 5lbs in the first week, most ever was 7. It's too bad you're disapointed with that, it just means you didn't have that much extra water weight to lose. Many people tend to have a last binge before starting a diet, like a weekend of gorging or emptying the cupboards...this will dramatically increase short term…

I've noticed no change in how many bites i get keto vs not. Urban legend growing? ;)

Congrats!

Not true...it's a tool like any other, but one that has become grossly mis-used.

I've lost 20lbs in the first month many times starting keto so it's definitely doable. Keep the carbs low, calories in a healthy deficit and exercise as much as you can.

It's hard to say if you're doing something wrong without knowing more detail like what you're eating (among other things) but likely you're not. The first few days weight loss is water weight and the reality is that fat takes longer. Try to keep the faith, stick to the plan and move more if you are impatient like many…

I tried them last week as well, and like you gave it a second day to hopefully have them grow on me but I can't do it and threw out the rest. Fortunately I"m still not sick of peanuts or jerky yet lol

Just a tip...daily weighings(or any weighings) really only work to provide information on how your body responds to stimulus...if you are going to fret/stress/lose sleep/kill your diet/etc..because of a scale reading you really should consider ditching it for calipers or a measuring tape or just good faith and a mirror.…

Everyone has a unique experience when starting out and yours is one we've heard before. Stick with the program and do some extra exercise if you just can't wait for some scale movement :)

I definitely have carb days and they usually correspond with some sort of outing(restaraunt, party, family gathering). Life's too short IMO to completely stop eating food I like and while I do get a little gassy the following morning for a few hours I'm fine with that :)

I always felt I slept better when lc'ing but since i've had a fitbit i see that it's not actually the case(assuming one trusts that their fitbit is accurately calculating sleep time, which I do). i chalk it up to feeling more rested due to the steady energy levels that i have, but that's just me.
-
I just go for a 10k run that night or the next morning after a binge night and the scale doesn't move much :)

I'm not a doctor nor do I have medical training but everything in my being says that's too low a calorie count. Conventional wisdom among the fitness and medical community with respect to weight loss is to eat as much as you can while losing weight to avoid long term damage to your metabolism. 1200 calories is the most…

Being honest, you don't do P90X to gain muscle. It's a program designed to lose weight while increasing stamina, strength, flexibility (basically overall fitness) but not to build muscle. Yes if you're a relative newbie to weight training you may see minor muscle growth(different from getting stronger). I've done P90X both…
-
True but you can still build strength and help to preserve existing muscle. As for 5x5 I like it for building strength for beginners but found that i still needed lots of accessory work. They do have a cool android app though :)

Love me some choc chip cookie dough quest bars. I could live soley off them if they weren't so expensive. Have never hurt my keto weight loss efforts.

I find that the best way to cycle off and that's my approach when i do. I also find 'cheat' days way less impacting when i'm lc/keto....i can bounce back quickly because I flush out the excess water and start to feel good again fast. When I'm CICO a cheat day seems to be more impacting....and easier to justify lol
