If you're not in Canada you HAVE to try the Kirkland protein bars, on par with Quest but a 1/3rd of the price. Also we get Whisps there, they are cheese croutons essentially. Good light snack and great on salads!

Welcome. A few tips to make things seem less overwhelming. Get rid of foods with higher carbs from your house if you can and only have low carb options available...so when you're hungry you can just eat. Consider net carbs...it might work for you. That essentially means subtract fiber carbs from total carbs(ie. If total is…

Objection, argumentative! lol just kidding. Sorry missed the inference, thanks for clarifying in a non argumentative way :)

The 1gm / lb is typically lb of LBM(lean body mass) which is your weight minus your bodyfat, making it a lot less insane :) I agree that it's more than needed for most...and aim for .8gm / lb LBM myself.

This is probably the most debated aspect within the LCHF/Keto community because of the insulinogenic nature of some forms of protein. I feel like this forum group tends to lean on the PRO side of more protein as you're advocating but I personally believe that .5-.8grams/lb LBM is a good target. More then that only drains…

Give it time... you'll miss the sweetness. i have at least one bar per day.

Is this a home-made or store bought concoction?? I miss hot chocolate.

I've done well on 60(net) for over a year now without gaining any weight back. Personal preference though...i don't have any unmanageable cravings, although i do allow cheat meals on occasion.

Looks good. I'm too lazy to make the crust after many tries...I use a Protein Up low carb wrap from Walmart, folded in half stuffed with shredded cheese for my crust and then layer topings on it. 10 mins in the oven and it's done.

I aim for about 60grams net carbs and my gross is almost always over 100 and I have always had good results. I do get hungry at times but make sure not to keep bad food in the house...if i'm hungry i take a handful of peanuts and that does the trick.
-
I would just eat if it's food I like... but if he's preparing something knowing you're low carb and you don't particularly care for it...then just nibble enough to be polite and move on. :)

Best synopsis on this topic i've read...well put!

I lose on 60 grams net carbs(100-120 total) consistantly.

I buy mine at www.lowcarbgrocery.com http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/catalog/nupasta-low-calorie-high-fibre-konjac-pasta-g-420.html?prod_id=6158

I would say love is a strong word but my wife and I use them in soup and with ground beef/veg substituting for spaghetti. A nice alternative to zucchini.

Helpful thanks.

While not competing in full marathons I can vouch for fat adapted running up to 10k and I definitely perform better with no fluids or foods to sustain me than on a carb based diet. Interesting from this article is the stressing of keeping protein to less than 30% of your total calories. This is definitely in opposition to…

Stay hydrated. Throw in water throughout the night and I've been fine. If you havent' had a good drinking night in a while you will find your tolerance down but otherwise i've felt no difference if i stay hydrated.

My plan (already in effect) is to eat low carb in the mornings and early afternoons and then allow carbs in the evenings... I find I only put a few lbs of water back on that way. Xmas day(s) all bets are off. I'll eat whatever I want in front of me as life is far too short to deliberately not eat food i like :) After Jan 1…

just have a choc chip cookie dough quest bar :)

Adding more protein won't help with energy, but it is a great idea for lots of other reasons. I'd just add a whey shake if I were you and that will take care of it right there. Most whey proteins come in around 140 calories per scoop with 25-40 grams of protein and under 4 carbs. You can mix other cool things in with them…

Drink water to feel full.

I use any one that has a low carb count, tending to follow sale prices.

A couple suggestions from our family. Riced cauliflower has taken the place of rice for those non lowcarb, mashed cauliflower is a decent mashed potato replacement if done right(a little more relunctantly accepted at our house thus far) and zucchini noodles are fully accepted in place of pasta under beef with some low…

My advice...figure out for sure that you're ready to commit to a weight loss journey right now. Keto or not if you're giving up after a week you may not be fully invested. Sustainable weight loss requires a shift in attitude that champions a consistent reduction in calories consumed for a sustained period of time…

Sorry folks but I very much like my scale. It's a great tool to help me understand how my body reacts to different stimulus(ie. food, exercise, alcohol). I won't say i've never been frustrated at it lol ... but when I am I use that to motivate me to make some sort of positive change.

Same with me. B: Vega 1 protein shake. S1: Adkins bar S2: 1/3 cup dry roasted nuts. L: Serving raw peppers, Cocktail Smokies. S3: Kirkland protein bar. S4: 1.5 x 1/3 cup salted peanuts S5: 2 pepperoni sticks. D: meat + veg. S6: (if a weight training day) whey protein shake. Very little variation in there other than dinners…

Both my wife and I eat their bars and have good success with them. I've heard that some people respond differently to sugar alcohols but obviously they work for a lot of people because they are big sellers at walmart :) The chocolate peanut butter bars in particular are very tasty and they're reasonably priced.

I travel a bit and I typically would take a box of quest bars and buy those little bags of peanuts for breakfast to fill in the wholes throughout the day. Lunch is a salad of some type...where could you go that doesn't serve salad? Then in the evening I eat whatever I wish. In my experience eating low carb for 2/3rds of…
