Swedish, not Dutch. I refused to watch the Hollywood version, it seemed so utterly ridiculous as a concept when you already had seen the original. But back on topic, sorry. I have some friends in the UK and at times don't get their jokes. Also, they do this mocking thing where I can't decide whether it's funny or just…

As long as both nuts are in the bag. I will never forget the old guy who sat navel deep on the stairs with one of them on the outside, whilst I was diving with friends nearby.

I should have rephrased. What I meant was that I haven't heard of minimalist shoes being used for such a purpose apart from what the OP has mentioned. Which was a point I thought of also in the light of the controversy that now exists. As a conclusion I wonder whether this specialty shoe really would help or whether normal…

I have about the same amount to lose and run without any sort of pain. Closer to 5K again. Have you used a running programme that has gradually conditioned you to running? C25K is good on the body. Another issue entirely is the inflammation and there I would listen to your doctor. I'm not sure why the discussion is so…

How much time do you have at hand? What are your top 3 choices of exercise? Which of them is the easiest under the current circumstances? If you are going through changes in work life, you might feel exhausted for a while still, so pick something you will have the most success with (greatest likelihood). Maintaining…

I always recommend to compare yourself to you only. If one sat on the couch yesterday but ran today, one has beat oneself. Pat on the back. Personally I think it is arrogant to compare oneself in a superior way to others.

This is a good point too. Here on MFP it isn't unusual to see threads where the OP focusses on the minuscule percentage of negative comments they have received whilst forgetting completely about all the good ones. It is an extremely important perspective difference and key to maintaining happiness.

Someone said "you can't help how you're wired" and I have to disagree with that. The mind is extremely dynamic and we can change a huge bunch of thought patterns. While it is nice that many offer more consolation type of support, my earlier comments were posted with the purpose to dig deeper to see patterns of behaviour in…

Convict Conditioning has ten progression steps for six big moves. You are your own gym might have something similar. This lets the joints adapt slowly enough.

Wear as normal shoes or donate. Sorry they were no match, these shoes aren't inexpensive :/

Slow down bears repeating. Also check out the C25K group here, there is lots of activity currently with many on weeks 1-3.

And as such already put the guy in the elementary-school intelligence level. His actions should not be given further thought for a second. It says everything about him and nothing about the recipient of his words. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt. "I will not let anyone walk…

Ah so I'm the bad guy for pointing out that you were shooting down instead of lifting up. Right.

I was quoting you, not the earlier poster...

You know, none of us can make you change how you view yourself, so maybe take this experience as even more valuable than what you see in the mirror. No matter how much advice you will get, ultimately you will have to find a way that works for you how you learn to love yourself regardless of shape and size.

Ever heard of reflective materials to put on top of black clothing? What a non-creative response.

Check out the original programme here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/index.shtml You can pick your week days as you wish, but like taeliesyn said the rest days are extremely important for beginners. Cross-training on alternating days is fine, though, like swimming and cycling.

Actually the absolute basics are a complete and utter mess in many cases where the writer's first language is English. It's unbelievable to me that many foreigners manage to learn the language better in their few years of language classes in school. Obvious typos are one thing but sub-standard spelling is appalling.
-
Yeah, well, English isn't even my first language but at least I get that one right. I will never comprehend how common it is not to take pride in one's mother tongue, have to use eye bleach here on a daily basis.

DNA doesn't change much, though. At least there is some consolation amidst it all.

Mom made some delicious roast stuff today. Also, there is nothing wrong with meat. Uhuh.
-
Haha, that is something else.
-
Maybe use a bowl into which you've measured how much you want to eat? Or don't buy the stuff in the first place, if you have such poor self-control?
-
There's lots to eat on a sheep head, although I've never tried one myself. I'm not easily grossed out by stuff, but it was so unexpected to see them there when I visited the islands that I was slightly shaken. I think one can eat just about any of the soft tissues, should one so desire :)
-
Oh, in a Faroese supermarket you find rows of sheep heads. I like meat but am trying to use more plant-based proteins. Whole new kind of cooking so takes time to learn.
-
Well, it is a thread in the forums so anyone can chime in. I hate the first ten minutes or so of running but find the rest if not lovely or enjoyable then at least tolerable. Afterwards it is endorphin central.

3 miles is a lot for a beginner. I suggest you look into couch-to-5K, the time-based version.
