  • I didn't have trouble with weight gain on the pill or nuva ring, but I was always a crazy $!#@& because of the hormones. I love, love, love my paragard! Had some back aches for about a week after getting it, and that's my only complaint.
  • As a mother of young children, I will say that when I am playing with my kids, it is great exercise. I chase them around the yard for 20 minutes at a time, swing them in circles, run up and down hills repeatedly, pull them in a wagon, ect.... I also wasn't sure at first if I should log it as exercise. I decided just to set…
  • I have not told anyone except my husband and my mom. I would rather just keep it to myself. I am down 9 lbs, with at least 6 to go (may keep going if I'm not happy at goal.)
  • My favorite is minced garlic, basil, tomato, and feta. Sometimes black or kalmata olives. Yum yum yum!
  • Thanks everyone for all the ideas! I will definitely get a light. There is a high school track not terribly far. I will have to look into whether that is an option. I did try running in the am one time to avoid traffic, and I didn't even make it down the block before I got freaked out and turned around to do a workout…
  • I would ask politely if she minds if you get a couple sets in. If she said no, I would take it up with staff. I do not think one person wanting to use the same machine for 30 minutes outweighs the needs of everyone else to use it for a few, since there is only one. ETA: maybe she needs to get one of those little resistance…
  • Hi :-) Vegetarian here. You have gotten a lot of great ideas. I will throw in my favorites: *protein powder mixed with water most days (120 cal) *Love cheese! *In colder months, I make a big pot of vegetarian chili with tons of beans and eat it over the week. *plain greek yogurt with a little granola *quinoa - just made…
  • With me it is inevitable, but limiting salt helps. I just ignore the scale for a week and it doesn't bother me. I am shocked that there are people at your gym acting that way. I have never come across one rude/critical person ever in a gym in 13 years that I can think of. They need to be the ones worried about their crappy…
  • How tall are you? You have to eat 3,500 EXTRA calories to gain one pound. Weight fluctuations of a few pounds will happen.
  • Let me start by saying I am not judgemental of overweight people, and I am sure most would rather not be that way. I am posting objectively to avoid writing a book. What kind of nation would we be if we didn't care about the health of our own population? There is no denying that obesity leads to health problems, and there…
  • I have mini-goals marked on my calendar for the end of each month. By the end of December, I need to be down 7 lbs. So I guess by Christmas I would need to be down 6. Yikes....Christmas isn't too far away! Good luck with your Christmas goals :-)
  • I am 5'7.5" my goal is 145, because that's what I weighed before my children and I was happy with how I looked. My high point was a few months ago at 161. In college, I was 130. But that was when I lived at the gym and could barely afford food, so I'm pretty sure I'll never see that number again, which is okay by me.
  • I always carry pepper spray with me when I run. For human and dog attackers! I have young kids too, and I just keep it high up. The only thing I will say is I actually thought I would need to use it once, however it was extremely windy, and I was down wind. That would not have worked out well! I happened to be on a bike…
  • I don't necessarily think tea is necessary for a healthy diet. However, if you really want to include it, I would recommend trying a vatiety of flavors. I have decided several time that I wanted to start eating more of a food that I don't like. I find if I just eat them, eventually I start to enjoy/like them. As far as…
  • Thanks for all the ideas!
  • I am at my 1 month mark, and have lost about 5 lbs. I am happy with this number. You are 4 lbs lighter than you were a month ago.
  • I barely gained during my pregnancies, and effortlessly and quickly lost what I did gain. It was not having a minute to myself to exercise or eat right for two years that was the problem. I'm sure the sleep deprivation didn't help either.
  • I have a terrible sweet tooth. When I started MFP about 30 days ago, I was eating a lot of sugar. Every day, all day. I stopped bringing it into the house, and after a while, the cravings stopped. I do have a cookie or a bit of ice cream here and there, but I find that just makes me want more and then I backslide into old…
  • For Halloween, I am not even buying the candy until Halloween morning. If there is any candy leftover, I will take it to work. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, I plan on eating maintenance calories and probably will not exercise on those days.
