  • I got on my elliptical until my legs were on fire, which did not take long but I have only owned it for three days now and I have made a point to be on it every day even if its just a handful of minutes. I think that being consistent and building the habit is most important for me right now.
  • The other benefit of making your own bread to see what gluten products affect you is that you control the amount of sugar in it. The sugar content in store bought bread has skyrocketed.
  • I have found success with the Primal Blueprint. Its a limited carb plan. You can google it and find lots of info. I also like Gary Taubes "Why We Get Fat". The 1200 calorie rule is a baseline generalization,. it all depends on size. I am 6'4 and male so the 1200 calories for me is less significant. The method that works…
  • The sugars in the soda will make you eat more. If you have coffee with little to no sugar or are using an artificial it will suppress hunger.
  • This issue is thinking about weight at all and not body fat composition and muscle composition. The number on the scale is meaningless without info to back it up. Weight training is important and will help you burn more calories and look and feel better. Cardio alone is not the answer just as weight training alone is not…
  • Its really hard but why not give it a shot. You have to start somewhere. Just don't be disheartened by it since its a crazy workout.
  • I took a self defense course at a local junior college that was really a martial arts class. It was cheap and a lot of fun. Any of the classes would be helpful for defense and health. Building confidence and punching strength are a bonus. As for defense, all you need to know is; eyes, nose, throat, groin, knee, stomp.…
  • I have a slow wake alarm that wakes me up gently. Its much nicer that way. I also talk myself up in the morning because I know I will feel great if I just go work out.
  • If you are working out the extra protein is great. Especially for strength training. A lot of people worry about too much protein but I adhere to the Primal Blueprint and it works great. I don't do a ketosis diet but it it much higher in protein and its really easy to go over. I also have more energy and feel fuller. I…
  • That sounds about right for the time.
  • I have been following BB/Paleo for a couple of months and its great. I have a cheat day on Saturday and I work out 5-6 times a week right now and have seen some great results so far. Its a pretty filling way to eat and now that I skip the fast food and refined carbs, I feel great.
  • So the philosophy that I follow is the Primal Blueprint and it says you get a cheat. This could be your cheat. The benefit of a cheat is that it resets your body. So if you eat awesome and great foods all week that are super healthy and are on a calorie defecit and then have 1 cheat, your body will think "Hey, back to…
  • I just wrapped up the Men's Health Ultimate Fat Burning workout on Your Shape Fitness Evolved and loved it. I also have Dance Central and I admit that its a lot of fun. Its nice to get up in the morning and just hit the Kinect for the workouts. Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and watching what I eat is all I did and I lost a…
  • I have dumped all fast foods, pasta, bread and basically all junk food. I cook every meal I eat except for my designated cheat day.
  • High protein needs to be balanced with fiber. Spinach is good as are other leafy greens. You may also want to eat smaller and more frequent meals to satiate you throughout the day. For some its hard but ha handful of Almonds may be all you need.
  • And don't follow the false advice of low weight high reps. Women will not get bulky like guys and those that get really cut have really low body fat. If you are lifting weights, lift to muscle exhaustion. On each rep, use the highest weight you can safely and in proper form. The denser and larger muscle mass will burn more…
  • I get up at 5 and work out then cook breakfast. I prepare a lot of the ingredients the night before so its easy.
  • Except for that popped color you look great! Great job!
  • Ladies, women's clothing size has no bearing on actual size. So please do not take it to heart. The sizes vary from clothing producer to producer. Also most in Hollywood are really short. Its more important to focus on how you feel in the clothes and in your life. Don't worry about the arbitrary number on the pants but…
  • Try the Vibram Five Fingers out. Its a really basic show and it may help. I agree with others and say take a break or try a new show. Its surprising the impact a shoe can have. The Vibram may turn people off in the looks department but for exercise they are great and let your foot have a full range of motion. And if you…
  • The worries you have are for people with medical conditions or other issues. I am a huge fan of the Primal Blueprint. You can google it for more info but its low carb but you don't want to try to be in ketosis very long as that will cause problems. I stay away from processed and "white carbs" like bread and pasta and have…
  • Great Idea! I use Balsamic Vinegrette a lot. I also buy the salad spritzer (can't recall the brand) and use that so its just a dusting of flavor.
  • Everything is relative. You would gain weight if it took you over your calorie goal. A shake is fine for breakfast but for me, I want something a little more hearty then I do the shake for lunch. Although when I was in a hurry I have put espresso in the shake instead of water and drank that.
  • Water weight but not the bad weight. When you say weight I assume you really mean fat. Drinking enough water is important to your body and "weight" loss and should not be overlooked. If you drink really cold water you will burn a few extra calories as your body warms it up.
  • I eat 1 egg and a serving of egg white scrambled with crumbled feta, some wilted spinach and diced mushrooms. Its a variation that changes the plain egg but does not add a ton of calories. You can prep the mushrooms and spinach the night before to speed up your routine. And i always have Bacon or some other savory meat.
  • I follow the Primal Blueprint and its really helped me out. You can google it for more info but basically you eat what primal man/woman had available to them. So basically its low carb. I don't eat any bread, pasta, etc. But the trick is you get 1 day off a week, mine is Saturday. I eat good all week then I eat junk on…
