Food and exercise seem to be popular topics around here. :) There's always more interesting things, but I'd avoid politics or religion. :-P

Are you guys suggesting Carb Haters are just Grain Haters? I only ask because you all gave examples of things with carbs. Thanks! :)

It's about WAIST not WEIGHT...One Choice at a Time

Personal trainers are good for proper form and technique. Keep in mind that they are probably well versed on exercise physiology, but not in nutrition. They will no doubt have opinions and anecdotal evidence, but a trained nutritionist would be best for that type of info.

I tend to support all my buddies with positive comments on their "under calorie goal for the day" posts. That said, 1) I tend to only do it if I know they're done for the day (i.e. if they're on Pacific time and it's noon here I know they just logged breakfast), and 2) lieing to yourself is pretty $h!++y.

At some point it's just calories you don't need. The more active you are, the higher that number is.

Different for everyone. Some still have their double chin, some lose their boobs, others keep their boobs. Some keep the thighs but lose the butt. You really won't know till you get there.
-
yeah 35% is okay as long as you're working out regularly.
-
where'd you get the 140g of protein number from? Unless you're eating about 1850 cals or are very active that may be too much? I think you'll find it difficult to eat it to properly mix in the yogurt, but if you eat the whole thing, it should be a big deal.

Weigh yourself before you work out and then immediately after your workout wipe off the excess sweat and weigh yourself again. The difference in weight is how much water you lost. You need to be drinking that back in addition to your usual water intake on non-workout days.

It's personal choice, I don't use artificial sweeteners.

I haven't told anyone but my wife of this process... MFP is the only place where most can go and have everyone rooting for you!

hi sarah! i like photog too, but i'm not very good. do you have a flickr account?

You should be eating the skin, but yes baked potatoes have a lot of cals. They are very dense! But that doesn't mean they are nutritionally vapid.

Indeed the closer to your body's ideal weight the slow you will lose. That said whole grains and lean proteins will help with hunger!

My personal opinion on this is staying within 10% is probably the best. And if you can be under 10% instead of over 10%, that's all the better.

yes tuna would work whole grains: oatmeal, whole grain cereal, whole grain english muffin, whole grain tortilla lean protein: egg whites, nuts, peanut butter, fish, chicken Just pick one from each column and combine! :-) Oatmeal with walnuts or peanut butter is one good choice. Whole grain english muffin with egg whites is…

People who eat protein for breakfast eat less later in the day. Protein decreases appetite and Whole grains take a long time to digest, keeping you feeling fuller longer. Eat both for the best breakfast results!

Thankfully I'm in #5 and didn't go through the others, except maybe a little of #2 with regards to how much I used to eat.

Sorry kicklikeagirl, I've never created a baby so I guess I wouldn't know anything about it. I forgot that because I have a Y chromosome and testicles that I couldn't possibly be intelligent about female contraceptives. BorkBork, I appreciate the apology. I was just sticking up for every man, including myself, that has no…

search "bicycle" not "bike" :)

It's easier for someone to get you to eat poorly and skip a workout than it is for them to eat healthy and exercise. It's a shame, isn't it?

No controversy here, eat what you want! :) That said, what kind of fish do you prefer? I don't want to give you a recipe for mahi if you only eat ahi ;-)

I am not familiar with burning calories this way. I would think you would absorb calories (energy) this way. I'll look into and check back here if I find anything.

Fruits and veggies are so full of valuable nutrients, I don't worry about having too many. I've never known someone to be overweight because they ate too many fruits and vegetables. Refined and processed sugars, on the other hand, should be limited to no more than 4 grams at a time.

Just picked up a bag of pink, red, and white M&Ms. 1.5oz = like 220 cals. I'll probably let myself have an ounce every couple of days. mmmm chocolate :)
