You don't BUT cardio work can really help you out in the gym, especially if you have asthma.
-
My rule of thumb as well. With the exception of, if you are sick then stay out of the gym. Work out at home or somewhere else where you are not gonna pass it to someone else.

The effects are a low calorie drink, some sodium macro bump with a side of fizzy awesomeness.

You can do a good deal in 6 months but Dwight Howard lean is a pretty lofty goal for anyone even if you are talking years. Getting lean is as much about nutrition as it is about gym time.

Feeling much better today after a recovery run last night that wasn't easy but pushed through. Now, looking back at my post, I feel kinda stupid and whinny for letting this rattle me like it did. Regardless it is probably good to be humbled every once in awhile just to keep yourself in check. I do now have a ton of good…

Fortunately I have never felt the need to poop myself mid stride. Afterwards may be a different story but I think I can usually blame that one on the sudden influx of booze and fast food combining forces and doing a death march through my system.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I can't remember anytime a workout got into my head like that before so I have just been a bit lost since it happened trying to figure out where it went wrong. Looks like I need to stop being a puss and recommit...and try not to get lost in my head. Gained a good deal of (humbling)…

As far as your metabolism goes, being hungry vs your body telling you that you need nutrition are two totally different things. Feeling hungry can be a sign of your body needing nutrition but they are not mutually exclusive and yes, lack of nutrition can lead to changes in metabolism but nothing really noticeable unless…

Lets back up, whatcha wanna look like when you are done? Are you concerned about looks? performance? mix? What would be the end game for you? You are going to get the canned "LIFT HEAVY LOW REPS NOW STARTING STRENGTH SQUATS 9 TIMES A WEEK" response on here just posting what you did.

As always with any lift, the first week doing these needs to be an exploration week to see what you can do. No one can ever safely give you a max starting point. You need to get in there and start light for just a few reps and add or subtract to really dial it in. Everyone is different but I found what works for me is to…

Absolutely, I actually prefer them with dumbells myself. Your wrist position will change slightly to accommodate dumbells. Instead of palms facing out like you are gripping a bar, you will keep them straight so that your thumb and index finger are traveling down towards your head. Think of how you grip a cup of water. You…

No, until I set an Olympic record, I prefer not to be a dramatic asshat.

I say this as basically the equivalent to an inner city 8 year old girl asking for and actually getting a pony for Christmas...

So (being a teenager with hormones pumping like crazy aside) -lets say you are relatively new to lifting. -You eat perfectly for muscle mass growth, -lets even up the possibilities and say you are a male with normal to normal/high testosterone levels. You are looking at maybe MAYBE .25 to .50 lbs a week of muscle and that…

Stay away from tricep dips, they are very misleading with what they actually work. Most of the pushing power in this move is going to be done by your frontal deltoids (shoulders) with very little work done by the triceps. I am a huge proponent of deltoid work because it actually makes your arms and shoulders look even more…

Mix these into your routine twice a week with a few days spaced out like so: Monday: Skull crushers - 5 sets of 6-8 Tricep dumbell kickback - 5 sets of 6-8 Thursday: cable tricep extension - 3 sets of 10-15 dumbell tricep extension - 3 sets of 10-15 Then the next week flip them around: Monday: cable tricep extension - 5…

Don't seem to have this problem. My legs are continuously trying to eat the rest of my body and it is annoying.

Great write up. Would like to add that when you start out if you can find a running buddy/group at or just slightly above your level then they are worth their weight in gold.

PVC pipe with an old t-shirt duct taped around it so it rolls instead of slides. That is really all foam rollers actually are anyway.

This is hilarious. Check out all these profiles with 1 or 2 total comments total throughout their entire history on MFP peddling this over priced slim fast/ protein shake hybrid. It's like copy and past marketing heaven in this thread for beach body coaches. You don't need any of this crap. Of course if someone eats like…

Darlin, If you give 100% then that's all you can do and the rest will fall into place. Focus on your diet for the long term, give it hell when you workout and you will get to where you want to go.

Great work man.

Apparently I ended up in the right thread for profile creeping.

My long run this weekend is 18 miles in prep for a marathon in April. Last 10k I ran I was in the top 10% of runners. I still don't consider myself a runner. I'm just a guy with a long torso and short legs trying to fake it and catch up to all the hoties in their spandex. Nothing makes a bad time go faster than a good view.

hahaha *kitten* you, give me my medal. I need something to grip between my teeth while I ice my *kitten* for the next 3 days.

Is it really a decreased appetite or have you learned the difference between the feeling of being hungry vs the feeling of your body actually needing nutrition.
