  • Pistachio nuts. I carefully measure out 1/2 cup (with shells). I eat them slowly and stick to one serving. Nuts are healthy, but calorically dense, and it's easy to overeat them.
  • Excess skin really depends on age, weight lost, whether you've been a yo-yo dieter who's lost and gained for years and years, etc. Everyone's different. My highest weight was 272. Today I was 119. I'm 61 years old, 5 feet tall and have lost and gained massive amts. of weight my entire life. I am currently on maintenance.…
  • I'm almost 2 months out. I had my surgery on August 1st. The hardest thing for me is not being able to drink when I'm eating. I've been instructed to wait 30 minutes before eating after drinking, and wait 45 minutes after eating to drink. I feel like all I do all day long is eat or drink. My goals are 70 grams of protein,…
  • Walking is great exercise !!! I live in Orlando, Florida. It's so hot, that I find it more comfortable to do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine in front of a fan, in the air conditioning and in front of the TV, I also like to swim laps. I have a waterproof MP3 player, so I put on my headphones and hit the pool. Swimming,…
  • I use the EAS Advantedge RTD shakes when I need a protein boost. The Dark Chocolate and the Café Caramel are the best. I also like the Java Pro. It's got 20 grams of protein, is 110 calories, and has 80 mg. of caffeine. Great when I need a jolt of energy, and it comes in Mocha, Caramel, French Vanilla, Latte and Hazelnut.…
  • I was sleeved on August 1, 2013, and it's the best decision I've ever made. I only wish I'd done it sooner. I was turned down by my Insurance company, and went to Mexico to have it done. It was an amazing experience. Everything was pre-arranged, there were no surprises, very professional and safe.
  • Dr. Alvarez says he's never seen a bald sleeve patient. It's normal to lose some hair, but it's temporary. My hair is extremely thin to begin with (hereditary), but I think I'm eating more protein now then I was before I got sleeved. I'm certainly not looking forward to it, but if it happens... there are some awesome wigs…
  • I'm a Quest fan too..... but I also like the Pure Protein bars. They are also 200 calories or less per bar and 20 grams of protein.
  • My Dr. has me limiting carbs to < 40 (net) grams daily. If I fill my sleeve with protein first, there isn't much room for carbs. The carbs I get are mostly from yogurt, cottage cheese, veggies and fruits.
  • I had my surgery in Mexico. My Surgeon was Dr. Guillermo Alvarez. We stay in close contact via Facebook. I can also email him or call him if I have any problems or issues related to my surgery. He's very attentive, and answers emails promptly. He's the best. Because my Surgery is in Mexico, and I'm in Orlando, I would have…
  • Other then 30 minutes before meals and 45 minutes after meals, I feel like I'm eating or drinking ALL DAY long. I'm never hungry, so I really have to eat and drink by the clock, so I get in 70 grams of protein and 64 ounces of fluids every day. I eat about 600 calories a day and limit my carbs to <40 grams a day, and fats…
  • I had surgery 4 weeks ago, I'm currently on "soft" foods. I had difficulty with baked Talapia. I measured 2 oz. I don't know if it was too dry or maybe I ate too fast or didn't chew it enough, but it felt like it was stuck in my throat for about an hour. It was very uncomfortable. I had a hiatal hernia repair along with my…
