Yoga is fantastic for bad backs, it really strengthens all of the important muscle groups that support the spine. However DO modify some of the more 'advanced' poses, so no bridges, or wheels or cranes okay ;-) I had chronic back pain after being hit by a car as a kid, and taking up yoga in my teens literally cured my back…

Tomorrow is my rest day and then I'm finished week 2! Which is exciting - I'm noticing strength improvement, which is motivating. But in crappy news, I'm in soooo much pain from Legs & Back yesterday, seriously like I am walking like a toy. But I really worked hard and know it will feel better in another day or two and…

You can do modified ones with a chair. You put your legs on the chair, which reduces your weight considerably, it makes it significantly 'easier' .. you start with feet on top of chair, the closer the chair the more it helps, the further the less, eventually you switch to straight legs, then barely touching.. then…

a yoga mat is just fine but you're probably going to want heavier weights soon. I'm on week 2 of p90x and I'm already holding onto my 5lbs and 3lbs together because just 5 isn't enough and it'll be a few more weeks before my sports store gets my 10lbs in..

*raises hand* I'm here too! So last night me and my fiance had date night and went to our itty bitty theatre and watched Harry Potter - it was a blast and I ate way too much buttered popcorn and couldn't find the energy to work out at 11:45pm. But not big deal, you gotta have a date night now and then right!? So Kenpo…

I've been suffering from this too and after doing a lot of searching on the internet it seems we're becoming dehydrated after the workout so your body pulls the moisture from your skin to conserve, which leads to you feeling cold. The articles recommend to drink more water before your workout, continue while you workout…

In my grocery store the almond milk is located by the chocolate milk syrup and the teas & coffees. I may have to try it with all these rave reviews I've been seeing!

When I am running I put DD in my jogging stroller, she loves it so I'm lucky. If it's chilly i put a blanket on her and always have a baggy of snacks and a sippy cup of juice for her to munch on, she only gets restless if i'm not 'bringing it' and walking too much instead of running. She's 3 now though so we'll see if she…

So my updates... Thurs I threw a birthday party for my Mom, the entire family was at my house so between cake prep, food prep and cleaning floors (why on earth did I feel the need to clean the floors with a 8 month old, 2.5 year old and my 3 year old all running around with food!?) I didn't have time for my video. So now…

Bahaha this totally made me 'see' the scene on the dock when he starts yelling "Lieutenant Dan! Lieutenant Dan!" and then dives into the water.

For one, I would suggest everyone use the new smaller plates - Daddy can simply get a second helping to 'make his muscles grow big and strong'. When talking with the kids I would focus on "Daddy is exercising to help make his muscles stronger and muscles need lots of nutrition to grow and Mommy is exercising to feel…

Sounds like you should maybe try to have a really substancial snack after your workout on tuesdays :) I suggest some fast carbs combined with protein.

There is a pervasive myth of women 'bulking up' by weight lifting. This is not true. We're simply not made that way. Can we get better muscle tone and some size? Absolutely! And some women do have genetic predisposition to more easily gain some bulk - but all that means is that there will be some visible size not that you…

You are all doing so fantastic! Welcome to the people who are just starting the program! We have a varied group, people just starting all the way to those on week 3. Tomorrow starts week 2 for me! So it's chest and back and I'm super excited that my pullup bar came in and I can now properly do the various grips etc instead…

8 years ago I lost 70lbs while taking Celexa. It allowed me to get active, to control my eating, and lose weight.

Day 4 down here as well. I actually enjoyed yoga x. I thought it was a pretty decent yoga program.

I understand completely. Years ago when I (5'2") went from my highest weight of 189lbs down to 120lbs. All anyone in my small town did was gush constantly about how good I looked and how awesome and amazing it was. And dammit I knew I was a big fat girl before losing but they did make me feel like I must have been soooo…

Hi everyone! I'm Jenn. I've been back in the land of Working Out & Watching Portions for about 7 weeks now. I want to lower my body fat% and drop around 15 lbs, about what I gained in the last year and a half. So a lot of focus on building muscle as I want to fe fit and not "Skinny fat".

I've been lurking and you guys are all doing fantastic!! I'm still sad I couldn't start on Monday but I was way too sick! So I'll be that girl who is 4 days behind everyone. Oh well I'm all better and I did Day1 today and I feel great!

I see the pics fine.. You look great!! Your face is much thinner. Great job! :)

Thanks for all the awesome ideas everyone. I do enjoy a lot of eggs, primarily for breakfast - I seem to get so much more energy in my early day if I start off with an egg. (home-made healthy version of eggmcmuffin anyone?) I never would have thought to add tofu to my fruit smoothies - what a great idea! I kind of forget…

I had one that got quite large on my inside wrist at the base of my thumb. It was rather painful. I went to the doctor and she tried to tell me it was a bone deformity :noway: despite my describing it as 'having squish' and sometimes gaining size within hours/overnight after I did something to aggravate it. Once again…

I also suggest going to a proper running store and having your gait assed for a shoe fitting. I am loving my Saucony's personally, but they do have extra support for pronation.

Honestly I think you should listen to your body. - it's clearly exhausted for some reason. I vote that you try and hydrate and have something with sugars to quickly even out your blood sugar. It's not the end of the world if your count is high for one day - there is actually a large body of research that recommends…

Rest days are vital.. as I am learning a little bit too late with having to enforce myself over this weekend (on my days off no less - prime time to get a long workout in!!) .. If you're doing too much you will start to get symptoms of overtraining because your muscles are not getting the rest they need to heal. Look up…

I agree with the suggestion for OP to eat them in raw state, but have to disagree about no one wanting the extra sodium  I am a sodium lover.. haha I'm trying to retrain my tastebuds, but I definitely prefer roasted/salted bad for you nutty deliciousness :ohwell:

I was actually just researching how to go about building up to doing pullups and there are quite a few methods (without going to the gym) to build up to doing proper pullups, If you have a spotter that is one option.. but if you're like me and would much rather struggle through it without someone else (ie: your laughing…

Hi Ali! I'm Jenn, 26 mom of 1. This is also my second time around - lost 70lbs years ago and kept it off, but over the last year I've put on another 15-20lbs before catching myself and altering my lifestyle again. A support system is key for sure! I've been here at MFP for a few weeks and have been finding it very helpful.…

I'm super pumped to start this tomorrow! I have to be lame and do modified moves for anything that needs the pull-up bar.. as mine is on it's way in the mail! .. ah well. I'm on a 2 day 'rest' as I *ahem* have been pushing myself much to hard and have lots of symptoms of Overtraining. It's still in the early stages so I'm…
