  • I have a lot of RBX brand leggings that tolerate my similarly shaped body and are pretty stinking cheap- $15 a pair I think. Mine all hit my belly button or just above, which is nice- I don't have to worry about flashing my butt at 30 of my closest friends in yoga class.
  • Well, that's why I stated all of those things explicitly. Just trying to unmuddy the waters a bit for our poor OP.
  • A. I use Yoga Studio. I like it because it has such a huge range of practices- from meditation to strength to runners yoga and even has very advanced poses that I've been trying and failing to do since I started yoga five years ago. B. LOL. I'm from rural Ohio, so I can relate. Apparently people hunt out of kayaks- I never…
  • SezxyStef, I think DesertGunR was recommending doing heavy lifting or calisthenics while eating at or close to maintenance (correct me if I'm wrong DesertGunR), in which case, I think your both saying about the same thing, which is what I'd also recommend to OP. -Since you're already at a healthy weight, it would be better…
  • Cheshirecatastrophe is right on all counts, if it told you you PRed, it probably kept a record and you can probably access that somewhere. If you really want to clean up your splits, I think Training Peaks will let you do that. It may be a premium feature, though, I'm not sure. Also, congrats on the PR!
  • I say start with 1x week, you'll be able to tell what's helping and can then take more classes or, once you recognize the value, start doing it on your own. I have an app that has running specific practices, some of which are only 5-10 minutes long and I'll do one of those after running most days. In other news, that $30…
  • @FitnessMeagan1105 this is the 2014 thread. This year's is titled "June 2015 Running Challenge." I'll see you over there!
  • @Elise4270 Thanks! That's great advice. I spent about an hour with the foam roller and lacrosse ball on Thursday, working out basically my entire lower body, but I think this is different, the joint itself is doing this charming pop and click combination. I did have hip flexor issues last fall. Probably a hyper extended…
  • Steamy trail run last night in the 1000% humidity. I always forget just how awful it gets here in the summer, and then summer rolls around... Anyway, fun 6.3 miles with strides, puts me at 47.something for the month. Another run is scheduled for today but I woke up with the strangest hip pain (not my normal knee, shin,…
  • Looks like you have a great plan and you've put in the work, just keep reminding yourself of that. You did everything to prepare, just enjoy the reward. It's a cliché for a reason, the hardest part is getting to the start line! On a related note, I haven't updated my mileage in 3(!) days here: Wednesday- hill repeats in…
  • Thanks for setting this up again, Stan! I'll be back for yet another month. I'm changing it up my method this month- my training plan has my runs based on time, not distance, and only 3/week right now, so I'll be shooting for completing 90% of workouts as scheduled. We'll see where that gets me!
  • Sure does. Scares the bajeezus out of me, which is why I want to try it.
  • New training plan has all my runs concentrated at the end of the week this week, so I did 3 mi. Easy last night. Longish run with strides and a 30 minute recovery spin scheduled for tonight, so I'll check back in later. 42.1 miles so far
  • I do about 60-70% of my training runs on trails, but I do road races and tris in addition to trail races. Hoping to do a trail marathon next spring, possibly a 50k. I love it being on trails, it's so much easier on my brain, lol.
  • @Seigla the training plan looks great, do you have it broken down into daily workouts, too, or are you more flexible on that? @gobonas99 I'll try the new Tri shop, They're planning to start up a training group this summer, that I've thought about joining, but I'm a crotchety misanthrope who prefers to train alone, so I'd…
  • This is totally fun. Definitely fun. If it wasn't fun, we wouldn't do it. I say through gritted teeth as I prepare to go back out into the 1000% humidity on my bike. Yep. Definitely fun. Sorry your run sucked
  • @gobonas99 That's what I was afraid you'd say, lol. I have called or emailed three local coaches and haven't heard from any of them. I tend to overtrain, then get derailed easily and could use the accountability. Maybe I'll go with an Internet coach, instead of trying to stay local. Has anybody else used a ready-made plan…
  • Here's what I got Pre-race: -make a packing list, triple check it. Try to pack well in advance. -practice transitions- that way you won't be as likely to do something silly on race day, like forget your helmet or number - drive the bike course ahead of time - A lot of triathlons offer a Tri 101 kind of thing during packet…
  • @gobonas99 I used to down water like it was going out of style when running and cycling, but then I started doing training runs without it and just fell out of the habit. Even making myself drink every fifteen minutes yesterday, I was noticeably dehydrated this morning. I've been meaning to ask you, since our training…
  • Fell a bit short of my plan to ride a (metric) century today, but I did get out and do 52.2 miles. I took it slow, since I have hill repeats on deck tomorrow, and mostly focused on my fueling strategy. Didn't get in as many calories as I wanted but I tolerated everything well, so I'm on the right track at least. I tend to…
  • Got to the pool this morning, was hoping for a long ride today, but weather is atrocious so I'll have to dial back my expectations a bit. Swim total: 10,050 m. I'll update my bike mileage later.
  • Like CSMan said, Join us over on the multisport challenge thread. There's at least 3 of us doing 70.3s this year, possibly more that I can't think of. There's also a group, but I don't look at it often so I'm not sure how active it is. Have you been racing long? I've only done short course races so far, but I'll be doing…
  • Take it slow, don't do too much too soon. You should be pedaling at a medium-high cadence, with low resistance, not pounding on the pedals. Pedal steadily, instead of pedaling hard then coasting, which will wear you out faster. Make sure your bike fits you. Take it to your local bike shop for a fit and a tuneup. Make sure…
  • Pool was completely deserted today (first time ever!), so I got in a solid swim station. Also adding my mileage from yesterday's race. Hoping to do a century ride with my kid brother tomorrow. Bike:134 mi Run: 38.1 mi Swim: 8200 m. Strength: 3 sessions X-training: 7 hrs backpacking
  • @SirJaseph, @Ohhim and @ironmankat - thanks! Kat, I'll probably be volunteering at IM Muncie, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you @gobonas99 congrats right back at you!
  • Just finished my first Tri of the season, pretty happy with how it went, except for a few mistakes here and there. Won my age group and finished 9th overall female of 59 in the sprint! As per usual, my run was my biggest limiter, but I was putting up mile splits about 1-2 minutes faster than all of last year's races, so,…

  • They just opened last weekend. Don't even have a lot of inventory yet. But they're good people. I don't know if there are any good bike shops close to you, but definitely look around. Kevin at Performance is good too, but I always recommend the local bike shops over the national chains. I may do Mason, too, should be a…
  • Joe, am I right in thinking you are doing the Morgan's Little Miami Tri? If so, you're in my neck of the woods so I have some recommendations: 1. The new tri shop in Cincinnati, House of Run n Tri, does a bike 101 and a beginner group ride at your pace on Wednesday night. They can help you figure out gearing and basic bike…
  • Not sure where you're located but our Medicare/ Medicaid patients frequently get physician referrals to cardiac or pulmonary rehab. It's widely accepted treatment that would be worth asking for. To my knowledge, it is usually approved for several sessions. We also use the 6 minute walk test for our HF patients- each day…
