  • Tina ... $4500 for a new water heater? That price caught me off guard so I looked up both electric and gas water heaters/tanks. I'm assuming the bulk of that fee is for the plumber's installation because everything a looked at was under $1000. Unexpected expenses are always worrisome to me and now that my husband and I are…
  • Touching Toes ... My arms are disproportionately longer than my torso, but I also have very long legs. Still, I can not only touch my toes, but stand on my hands. Think of a monkey dragging his arms! :D My family has had a good time making fun of me over the years. Fiber ... I go in cycles of doing really well with fiber…
  • Tere ... welcome back! Ginny ... sorry to hear you have Covid. Hopefully it will be a mild case! Katla ... hugs ... My husband and I still have to get our wills, POAs, etc. taken care of. We have put this off way too long! Today, I've been ruthlessly going through sorted photos. This is the second go-through of my mom's…
  • Welcome Barb from Canada!
  • Debbie ... the photo of Destiny ... even with all that she is going through, she is just beautiful ... Barbara ... TurboTax transferred everything, but then wanted me to do some verifying and then tell them that all was correct. Different from other years. Karen ... hugs ... Allie ... I confess that I don't begin to…
  • I used to do our taxes without help, reading that ridiculous book they used to send out each year. But when computers and tax software became available, I “splurged.” I am, at heart, a tightwad! :D My mother’s taxes, however, will be sent to her longtime accountant.
  • Annie ... I used TurboTax and got both my husband and my returns completed as well as my adult son's. Yay!! Son's has already been fired off to the IRS but I've set my husband an my returns aside to review again in a few days. I always like to double check them. And, yes, TurboTax had some mysterious questions this year. A…
  • Machka... that is a stunning photo of your rose! Rosemarie ... more aide care is always a double-edged sword, but you really do need to to get more help if you're wearing down. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you the only family member involved in your husband's care? Debbie ... you are right that your MIL would most…
  • Margaret ... sorry to hear you fell on the ice! Prayers for continued healing. Karen ... What a difficult setting to have a conversation with your son. It doesn't seem as though he really wanted to "hear" you. Pants ... while I love athletic wear, I force myself to wear jeans through most of my week. Keeps me honest with…
  • Tracey ... that is incredible! Thank you for sharing the information. I have a lot of photos that look like the first one! Beth
  • Jean ... your poor kitty! The MGM lion had to be quite a shock! Lol! Rebecca ... how exciting that your daughter-in-law is expecting again! Bought a pound box of mixed chocolates from a local chocolatier for my mom. Shouldn't have been surprised that chocolate has risen in price, but it was still sticker shock for me.…
  • Good morning! Tracey ... the grief just takes time and never ends, it just changes ... Katla ... sorry your digestive system is acting up. Hope you feel better soon. Kay ... so sorry for your family's loss ... I often wonder why life is so difficult for so many of us ... Processed Food ... When I think of processed, my…
  • Carla ... oh no, your Mom DID have a break! As far as malpractice complaints, know that the legal system/court sides with the medical community. Unless a case is "slam dunk," ... and I mean the doctor left his watch in your loved one's body cavity ... a personal injury attorney won't take your case. Your mother's dementia…
  • Barbie ... this is so true. It helps me to remember that I have plenty of my own shortcomings to work on before I start picking at others. Beth
  • Lanette ... I didn't receive anything in my mail.
  • Jewelry ... I love jewelry but I'm really hard on it (catch it on things and break/lose) so limit myself to earrings and my wedding rings. Barbara ... I have a feeling I often talk over people :/ This is mostly due to not hearing. So sometimes there are reasons beyond rudeness that cause others to roll-over others with…
  • Test again. My son tested negative one day and then was positive the very next.
  • Weighing/Measuring Food ... while I follow an IF lifestyle and weighing/measuring isn't technically necessary when listening to appetite correction, I still need to pull out the scale when I find myself not losing weight or feeling like I'm overeating. It's a good tool to use when getting a handle on how much you eat. I…
  • Allie ... Do you have a covid test kit at home? I worry about you with all of your health issues and covid is on the upswing here in the northeast. Beth
  • Kylia ... Happy Birthday! Lanette ... thank you for Dr. Li's YouTube video ... very interesting information in there. Besides his book, have you taken any of his "classes?" Lisa ... I popped on over to your blog. I really do like the way you write! Cold, cold, cold here today. Son is back at work with a mask on. Later…
  • Thank you, Karen and Lanette ... both of these articles confirm common sense. (Did we really think that replacing natural foods with artificial ones would be good for us??) So now I have to ask: can we reverse the damage created by years of eating UPF? While I do better now that I know better, there were years of…
  • Barbie ... Thank you for setting up the new month! Allie ... I loved the photo of you and your grandson in the barn setting. How cute! Vicki ... I am feeling better, but still under quarantine today and then the 5 days masked in public thing. The "rules" keep changing and I can't keep up with what we're supposed to do. I…
  • Machka ... unless your MRI results are shared with you through an online "chart" or some other source, you need to see the doctor for your results, don't you? Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow ... Lisa ... enjoy that egg! :D Jenni ... exercise is my nemesis ... I know it's good for me and I struggle with any consistency.…
  • Tracey ... glad to hear from you ... continuing to pray for your family. Barbara ... Congratulations on the new BMI!! Lanette ... I have watched Hollis before. He's insane but highly entertaining! :D So my son apparently still has a job and will be expected to return to work after his 5 day quarantine. [Insert rolling eyes…
  • Hugs, Hugs, Hugs Beth
  • Lisa ... according to my son's primary doctor, whom he called today, it is illegal (as it's protected under government law in the US similar to family medical leave) to terminate employment due to a Covid quarantine. Ten days used to be covered. It's been reduced to 5 days. He contacted his supervisor, so we'll see. My…
  • My son has tested positive this morning for Covid so we now all have it and can dispense with the indoor masks while in our home. My husband and I were trying really hard to keep germs to a minimum in the house quarantining is separate rooms and wearing a mask if we had to go to common areas of the house. No need now.
  • Karen ... it must be so freeing to release misplaced guilt! I hope your son can find the same freedom ... My mother tested negative for Covid today! So thankful! They will continue to watch her for another 5 days, but I thinking she dodged the bullet. I did not. Tested positive this morning but so far just minor symptoms…
  • Ginny ... thanks for the sick time input. I had hoped with Covid we would get out of this culture of going to work sick. Evidently not. I do understand, though, the need to curtail those who stay home for illegitimate reasons and this, I suspect, was the supervisor's intent. I have not been responsible for our chocolate…
  • Machka … I asked my son the same thing regarding illness … whether that meant he needed a doctor’s note instead and he said the supervisor said no absences! This is a huge well known manufacturing company and I don’t believe it in this age of covid. But that’s what the Supervisor said.
