Ok, I feel compelled to clarify my point. I wasn't trying to say she was totally right (see "eh,maybe"). What I was trying to do was try and figure out how she came to her conclusion. Like I said I see what her logic would have to be. I can see how that might work out. It's very suboptimal (in my post I actually listed a…

Eh, maybe. I can see where someone might not need to, but then again, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how those people would get notably overweight to start with. I mean the logic makes a bit of sense; high volume of low calorie foods leading to decreased overall calorie consumption, but that makes a lot of…

Ummm, what? Seriously, so many levels of what.

Fun thing to remember; the doctor can write as many prescriptions for statins as they want. You are under exactly zero obligation to have them filled. Might want to keep this in mind when they start trying to up the statin prescriptions. Also, possibly a dumb questions; the article says they have no idea what to target for…

It's a straight calc based on the activity level you set and the exercise you log. If you set activity too high or your metabolism just runs a bit slower than average, the calc won't know that and be off. It's pretty accurate for me, so I'm fairly certain it's not just too make people feel better (they'd just feel worse…

Are you still losing weight? If so, are you losing at you minimally acceptable rate, better than minimal, or below minimal? If you're losing at or above the rate that makes you happy, try upping your calorie limit so you don't feel so pressured/stretched to try and fit into a goal that's too low. If your below...well,…

The only conclusion to draw from this is McNuggets are perfectly fine food, that won't magically screw you up in and of themselves. If someone somehow concludes that because an insanely fast Olympic athlete (who burns Saraswati knows how many calories per day) can eat 1000 of them, they can eat an equally absurd amount,…

First note: Sweet monkey loving Odin, folks, you were actually giving her credit for disproving the laws of physics because people with damaged thyroids have difficulty accessing the energy their bodies stored? It took about half a page for someone to point out that all you did was prove the thing that's been said already,…

Oh, I'll bet $20 and the favor of Llolth that the link will be to Lusting.

So, we're at the big conspiracy stage, now are we? So, this begs the question; what diet food is being advanced by calories in vs calories out, again? Which products? Seriously, who stands to gain from "no specific foods make you fat. No specific exercise product will make you not fat. Products which say they will help you…

I'm getting the distinct impression you may not have read the part of my post I left in, which covers that in simple, kindly old grandma like words. Please reread and try again.

You know what, screw it. OP, you are totally right. Calories in vs calorie out totally isn't right. Your weight is actually determined by Renenet, the ancient Egyptian god of harvest and nourishment. She writes down (in hieroglyphics, with bad handwriting, in cypher) what you will weigh every single day. Whatever you eat…

You know what, I'm in a pleasant mood. I'm in such a pleasant mood I'm going to assume that by "foods that burn fat" which is a rather...irrational question, you actually meant to ask "what foods help keep me full on fewer calories so I can maintain the deficit that burns fat" since it's a far more sound and reasonable…

Yup. Totally fine. Unless you have some metabolic or hormonal issue which makes your body do bad things with sugar, or those extra 150g of sugar will put you over your calorie limit, should be fine. Of course, I'd say that about going over by any amount of sugar, regardless of source. Just so you know my bias. Edit because…

Pick food that you like eating. You will not, I repeat, WILL NOT keep weight off if you lose weight by trying to force yourself to eat nothing or mostly things you hate. Even if, by act of supreme willpower, you force yourself to stick with this eating plan you dislike so much long enough to lose the weight you want, you…

I'll be nice about this. Meats, eggs, almonds, peanuts, carrots, green beans, lettuce, water. Probably most veggies, now that I think about it. To note; I made it pretty clear on another thread where I sit on the whole "sugar is teh devuls!!!!" nonsense. It involves the word "nonsense". But, if you wanna restrict your…

Sugar again. Seriously, what the hell? Why is everyone so utterly hell-bent on "disproving" calorie in -calorie out? Is it really that damn hard to grasp. "thermodynamics doesn't explain everything" does not, in any conceivable universe, equal "Thermodynamics don't apply" or "thermodynamics aren't the most important…

First 100 days, I lost about 70 some odd pounds. I don't know the exact number, since my tracking months are 5 weeks. 35 days each, so I'm just guessing where I was in Month 3, Week 5, Day 2. I know my the end of Month 3 (105 days) I had lost 75 lbs, so figure about 72 or 73 on day 2. I don't think I've reached 100 days on…

But in what way is it better than just eating at a deficit? In what way does having a food list you have to stick to surpass watching your portions and calories levels and just eating whatever floats your boat? And what is "poop" food, exactly? Is this another "processing/gmo/hfcs/sugar/ are all secret DEMONS OF SATAN SENT…

My scale is prone to arguing once in a while. Now, normally it's a good little scale, reports accurately, doesn't get huffy and start yelling random numbers, just does it's job And well even; my gram confirmed that my scale and the scale in her doctor's office agree completely.. But some days, it loses it's little scaley…

Could you? Sure, absolutely, no one is gonna stop you. Now should you? Uhhh... bit trickier. Are you obese? I did 1200 when I was below morbid obese but stil obese, and it worked fine for me. With less to lose, it seems sort of pointless, being way more likley to cost you LBM for no real gain, since you have less body fat…

Hell, I'd try it. I'd fail, pretty hard actually, but I'd be more than wiling to make the attempt. Give me two of my friends after a few hours at the bar, I'm pretty sure we'd kill that beast, fries and all. Then we'd go into a food coma for a bit, then declare "worth it" upon awakening. Hell, all that fat, carb, and…

I just include work in my basic activity level. My deficit and loss rate per 5 weeks has been accurately predicted, so I'd ay do that.

I think I sort of half get what OP is talking about. Feeling fuller on fewer calories kinda makes me happy, like "I'm good at this" sorta happy. So if we're talking about just lowering calories, sure, I can dig it. Actual hunger, on the other hand, makes me feel not-happy. A level of not-happy proportional to the level of…

The shoestrings were white, to avoid any tampering with the accuracy of the eyeball-o-scope. These were very scientifically accurate shoestrings.

Having no access to a cloth measuring tape, and having had my regular measuring tape high jacked by my mom for some reason involving flowers, I did the measurements using the only things I could dig up; some shoe strings I don't remember buying but that were listed as 27 in long, which gave me something to work with. From…

Just went and tested this. Input 110.5 for calories and 3.2 for fats. It entered without error, but when displayed on the log, cals were rounded up to 111 and fats were rounded down to 3. So the database won't argue if you type a fraction, but the log will round it appropriately.

I'm actually thinking this too. I mean, it makes sense in the "sugars/carbs/whatever are teh devils, eat this instead or you'll get ALL THE CANCER!!!!11!!1" type threads and posts. Correcting misinformation and all that. But this isn't asserting squat about cauliflower vs. bread.. This is a way for people who like…

A few people noticed at around 30 pounds; everyone noticed at about 70-80 (including a few actually asking me what I did), and a few people (mainly my mom, my gram, and this one older lady at work I'm friends with) made jokes about "ok, you can stop losing now" at around 95 lbs down. I'm down 110 now; I don't think…

Currently eating this way for three main reason. 1. Ease of compliance. Carb calories, like bread and doughnuts, are just the easiest ones for me to drop without leaving myself hungry and maintaining my deficit. 2. Taste. This is a simple one, and ties with the first; a higher fat, lower carb diet just tastes better to me…
