In this case, it turned pout to be a Chrome extension (https everywhere) that was causing the problem. Should have been the first thing I thought of. Thanks for the suggestions however.

Congrats! Feels great, doesn't it?

I am going to join the dogpile of folks encouraging you to take it slowly. One pound/week is a perfectly admirable goal, and more than likely will be easier to sustain. Try to be in it for the long haul. If you slavishly hit your target every day for 8 months and lose the weight, then declare victory, you will find that…

You look so happy! Congratulations.

The difference is already striking after just 45 pounds. Imagine what it will be after the next 45 -- great job!

Some impressive stuff,all.

I am not very good at taking selfies, but anyway:

I try to weigh & log it every day, though I occasionally miss if I am rushing out the door, etc. I like having a lot of data available, and I think that when I chart my progress, seeing the more realistic day-to-day results (as opposed to a weekly weight that maybe only trended downwards) helps me keep some perspective on…

This was last night - you can't see it, but somewhere under all those heirlooms and arugula was a thick slab of brie.

So, the thing is, there is nothing unhealthy about eating fat and calories. I mean, you have to eat to live, right? And fat generally is more filling per calorie consumed than (say) starchy food like bread. Or that is my experience anyway. I feel more sated - more full - after eating a 500 calorie meal featuring the…

Creamed together 50/50 by weight with fresh goat cheese and slathered liberally on home-made bread with a drizzle of olive oil, little black pepper and maybe a few sprigs of arugula for more peppery bite. No, not every day, obviously, but - that's how I eat avocado when I can make it happen.

I recently changed from Jawbone to FitBit. I think the Jawbone UP is actually a better tracker in some ways; I was frustrated with its poor bluetooth connectivity and the frequent issues it had syncing data with MyFitnessPal. The Fitbit, on the other hand, has no issues syncing and the website for Fitbit is considerably…

Not sure that a halibut shake is going to be the way to start the day. Your mileage may vary, of course . . .

terbusha said everything I would have said but better. I have not thought of myself as being on a 'diet' one time in the last 18 months, but I've dropped almost 70 pounds in that time frame simply by staying within my calorie budget and increasing my exercise level a bit.

Just have a shot *for* breakfast then you needn't skip. What are they teaching kids these days, anyway?

I agree with the others here. One pound per week is a good, steady pace. You need to find yourself a routine - eating less, exercising more, all those lifestyle changes - that you can stick with for the long haul. If you race to drop those 30 kilos, you're more likely to revert back to the bad old habits and gain them…

58 pounds in 303 days = 5.75 pounds every 30 days. I aim for a 750 calorie deficit / day expecting to lose 6 pounds/month at that level, so I am slightly under-reporting my calories or over-estimating my exercise, but not by enough to be concerned about it.

Congrats!

Sounds like a blast! Count me in - Frodo began his journey on September 23rd, I am guessing we'll want to get moving sooner than that? :)

When the words "All the good doctors (like Dr. Oz)" come out of someone's mouth, that's your cue that it's time to be somewhere else.

That's a great site. (nerdfitness.com) I was not familiar with it at all. I just spent 30 minutes browsing it and I still need to watch the video you linked . . .
