There are times where you body will require more than what you've got MFP set to because the baby goes through growth spurts. But if it's all the time, my question to you is are you eating all your exercise calories? If not, try eating all of them and see how that helps. Good luck!

Getting into as many classes as possible and doing as much research ahead of time to know your options, the pros/cons/etc., and having a doula/midwife to discuss potential scenarios ahead of time to better prepare you will definitely help (all of which I've done). Also, there's quite a few books out there that are also…

My midwife says she won't even bring up the topic of inductions until my 41-week appt if I still happen to be pregnant by then. She's also said she's comfortable letting me go 41w5d before doing anything; granted I'll have to get a stress test 1-2 times a week, but that doesn't bother me any. Doesn't surprise me that the…

That's what my midwife told me at my 40-week appt yesterday when I was down about 2.5 lbs from last week's appt. She also doesn't think I'll make it to 41 weeks... Maybe we'll both be lucky and welcome our babies before the weekend's out! :drinker:

40 weeks and +36.5 lbs. Any day now...........

There's certain exercises they say you should slow down or stop doing while pregnant (like jumping jacks), but really I think it's all what you're already used to doing. If you did 30DS regularly beforehand, then you're OK. Just listen to your body and if something doesn't feel right, modify or skip it; it's as easy as…

I read Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin; it was loaned to me by a coworker and it was really good and tons of useful information that makes me feel more prepared going into my first birth. The same coworker also loaned me The Complete Book of Pregnancy & Childbirth by Sheila Kitzinger which I've thumbed…

I've got one that I'll be using and so far she's been great! She's given me lots of info that makes me feel prepared (have 1.5 weeks left) so all I have to focus on is the labor and delivery as the information makes me feel more empowered and relieves tons of stress and worry. I'll let you know how it goes after the baby…

I'm due Feb 6th! Good luck :drinker:

LOL. Yeah, one of my dogs turned clingy within the first month and even more so now than before follows me around and has to be near me all the time. 95% of the time she prefers me to be the one to play with her (drives me nuts) and always wants to be in my lap when I'm sitting down. Hopefully she'll cool it when the baby…

At my peak, my HR would range between 180-200 for normal workout HR. My midwife said that each person is different and the best way to gauge whether you're overdoing it (aka not getting enough oxygen for you and baby) is to hold a conversation while you work out. if you can hold a conversation while not getting terribly…

The best way I've researched to best your chances at a natural, no-intervention, no medicine, birth is to keep your water (if it doesn't break on its own, don't let them break it! The water sack around the baby buffers the pain and it won't be as bad); use a shower/tub as again the water acts as a buffer for the pain; and…

Have you tried seeing a chiropractor? I see one and any hip pain I start to feel goes away after an adjustment. Or try getting a foam mattress pad for your side of the bed to provide more cushioning/support.

For us, we'll be at a military hospital so there's no students or resident nurses; just the OB & midwife on call and regular L&D nurses. For who will be in my room though, I've made it clear that I want as few people as possible and as few interruptions as possible (only midwife, my assigned L&D nurse, my husband and…

That sounds like me in a nutshell. As of my week 38 appt, I've gained 36 lbs, but I'm retaining water as noticable in my hands and, in the evenings, my feet/legs. Can't wait until that part returns to normal soon as I hate hearing that "untrue" weight every appt!

We converted our home office to the nursery. The theme for the office was old world, so it had old maps on the all and dark cherry furniture. The walls were split color when we moved in (white floor board, soft yellow below, blue chair rail, eggshell upper) and the only change we made to that for the room was to paint the…

It varies by woman, but mine stopped hurting at the end of my first trimester and haven't really hurt since then. I have noticed they've gotten slightly bigger, but I have a feeling they're as big as they're going to get until my milk comes in after delivery. Good luck!

That's pretty much me in a nut shell. I do have times where I have minor heartburn (started week 37, I'm week 38), but as long as I eat small meals to keep food in my stomach for it to have something to digest and drink milk with each meal, I don't notice it. I have had the swelling feet, but found that was because my…

For us it was both. I'd stopped taking the pill in early 2011 before a 30-day trip for work and we were both of the midset that we weren't going to actively try, but we were going to stop preventing it so when it happened, it happened. Between work trips for both of us, relocation to another state for our job followed by…

We know what you mean; my husband and I both being military, it's fitting seeing as how Michael is the patron saint of soldiers

We've been set on a girl's name since the middle of the first trimester but it took forever to think of a boy's name (at first we didn't want to know what we were having). Well, we changed our minds and know we're having a girl, and the name we chose is Makayla Renee. ETA: After we chose the name (it's one that just stuck…

I say if Amber Miller could run a full marathon at 39 weeks pregnant, you can definitely do a 5K or 10K! As others mentioned already, who cares what others think; exercise is doing you good and you'll feel better when you beat them to the finish line  Good luck!…

During the week it varies between toast w/milk or yogurt/sliced banana/cereal (sometimes w/OJ) for me. On weekends, I try to do pancakes or homemade turkey sausage breakfast sandwiches for me and the hubs (makes leftovers for the next week too if I'm feeling something different).

At 37 weeks, by my midwife's scale I've only gained 33 lbs, but based on the weight I know I was at the very beginning and not at my first appt (12 weeks) it's actually 42 lbs. And they have yet to give me a weight estimate for her, although I don't think I want to know other than to have it written somewhere so I can…

+33 lbs at 37 weeks Snowgrrl83, we're in the same boat and it's pretty much any day now! Good luck :drinker:

I did, but not anymore, thankfully. Mine were 2 days (6:30am-2:30pm), followed by 2 swings (2:30pm-10:30pm), followed by 2 mids (10:30pm-6:30am), then 4 days off (the first two I felt got wasted trying to catch up on sleep). The day shifts were horrible because I hate getting up early to begin with and to have to get up…

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

Interesting, my husband was hyper and his endo said it was easier for them to accelerate it to hypo because bringing thyroid functions up to the normal range is much easier to control with meds than to bring it down to normal, not to mention less taxing on the heart (he went to the ER for chest pains which is how we found…

Bummer! This is my first and the military hospital where I'll deliver won't intervene unless there's high risk to me and/or my baby (they won't even discuss anything until week 41). Their c-section rate is also around 11% because they recognize that they get us back to work faster if there's no major surgery. This military…
