I guess for me too, part of it is being so used to logging to lose weight or maintain once I got there, that to visually see that I'm eating more to GAIN weight... it's just... weird. So I feel like if I don't log it, but still mentally keep track of it, it's not as shocking and easier to accept. And knowing what I gained…

The flutters more than likely are hiccups - that's what I felt the most with my first. I did get the occasional kick to the ribs and adjusting of the arms, but it seemed fort he most part that she found a comfy spot and didn't want to move! So this go around having a very active baby is different - and wakes me up more at…

1st - around 20 weeks 2nd - around 17 weeks (and WAY more active!!)

All my family lives in another state and thankfully they all agreed to come after; in fact my in-laws decided to come out for Easter (our daughter was born in Feb). My dad being retired has flexibility to come out whenever and my mom's job is somewhat flexible and doesn't need a ton of time in advance to work getting off.…

Ooh, I like that! I will definitely have to mention it to hubby and see what he says. Thanks!

Update to our 20 week ultrasound... During the ultrasound (and based on feedback from the tech/dr), there didn't seem to be any issues/reason to worry (baby was exactly where she should be at 20 weeks growth wise, organs, spine, etc. that they were looking at looked good). However, at our 20-week appt with the midwife the…

Hubby said I would rule out Megan because it's more common (and I did lol), and he didn't like Camryn because it's too close to Cameron. And he didn't care for Caitlyn, but he said, what about Cailyn (Caitlyn without the t). I like it! So now we've settled on a first name and off to decide a middle name. Any suggestions…

Love the pairings!! I had a brother and we got along for the most part and get along great now. Missed out on the whole sister relationship so that's awesome you guys get that for yours! We had our 20-wk ultrasound last week and confirmed baby #2 is also a girl!! That makes 2 girls for us and my hubby WAY outnumbered (we…

Must be something about a momma's intuition because I was right! We had our ultrasound Monday, but we told them not to tell us - to write it down and seal it in an envelope. We took that to a bakery to make us a gender reveal cake so we could find out with friends and on video to share with family. It was pink! Somehow I…

I haven't weighed every week as I'm trying not to focus on the fact I'm gaining weight (hard to really convince yourself it (should) be all baby when you see the scale go in the other direction), but so far only 10 lbs gained at 21 weeks. Much better than the first go around (gained 40-45 lbs total and hoping NOT to do…

Every pregnancy is different and every woman's body will require something different. Me, I love my proteins so I haven't needed to change my macros, whereas fit_mama30 had to change it up. So my advice is to find the macro combination that works for you and go with that, then readjust a few months after pregnancy to give…

With my first, I had a feeling it was a girl because I kept coming up with tons of girl names and no boy names, and I was right :) With the second I keep referring to "her" but I don't know if that's because I think it will be another girl, or because I'm so used to saying "her" and "she" because of our first, or because…

I have had SOOOOO many vivid/realistic dreams since getting pregnant and they first started showing up before I knew I was pregnant (should have been hint #1 since I had them the first go-around too). The most recent one that I somewhat remember started in my parent's house then someone morphed into my great-grandmother's…

Depends on how much of an epidural you get. Mine was almost like a walking epidural because I could still stand/move with the one I had first labor but a little too much in that they had to tell me when the contractions were going to push because I couldn't feel that. For the TENS/gas, I'll have to ask my midwife on Wed…
-
Now I'm jealous! Especially since it sounds like it doesn't limit movement if you have to use it unlike epidurals.
-
So a little new to some of this terminology being thrown around, but what do you all mean when you say "gas and air"? Is it the same as receiving oxygen to ensure mom & baby are getting enough during labor?

While I don't live in the UK, I've heard many positives for homebirths from friends who have gone through it and from doulas who have assisted. Where I work, I'm required to go to a hospital if I want insurance to pay for it otherwise I'd do homebirth in a heart beat! Thankfully the hospital I go to has midwives and…

With my first I started definitely showing around 20 weeks. By 22 weeks I was in maternity. So far with the second I'm 14w and don't really show yet, depending on what I wear.

I agree, it's not from lifting because I'm not doing any! My midwife says it's the body and the change in hormones making those pains - primary reason is to help the ligaments, etc. in the pelvic area get ready for delivery. When I asked why I was feeling it MUCH sooner this go around (this is pregnancy #2 for me), all she…

March 15th with our second! We broke the news to family already during our annual family reunion which was a fun surprise for them  I've told my immediate supervisor at work and his boss, but other than that, none of my coworkers know. I've been trying to figure out the best time/way to do it, but we've been so busy…

With my first, I didn't exercise as much as I should have and she came at 41w 5 days, but labor was a bear at 42 hours! All of the sources I've read on this topic seem to really only agree on one thing: exercise makes the labor go faster. It doesn't dictate when the baby will come, but the more in shape mom is, and the…

I remember a few weeks during my first tri with my last pregnancy that I couldn't eat anything other than buttered toast for breakfast, pb&j for lunch and chicken & mashed potatoes (neither w/seasoning) EVERY SINGLE DAY! It was horrible! So far, I haven't experience that yet this go around, but then I don't remember when…

If you have netflix or amazon prime, you should be able to find Jillian Michaels workouts for free to do. She's got 20-min and 40-min workouts and she packs a lot into the 20-min ones. They're good for what you're suggesting and they have 3 levels to start you out slow and get more advanced as you're ready for it. If you…

And this totally explains it! I completely forgot about exhaustion during the first trimester (don't recall having this big of an issue last time) but this would explain my lack of energy, constantly being tired, and desire to not do a damn thing LOL. Can't wait for this to pass... not really conducive for the type of work…

I'm not sure where in the US you are, but where I'm at, they only do a blood test to confirm pregnancy at 6 weeks then set up an appointment for a first ultrasound at 12 weeks (at the earliest). I don't recall where the placenta was for my first, but we had a girl. It will be interesting to see which gender this one is and…

My first came just shy of 42 weeks. I was told by my midwife that it's not uncommon for first time moms to go almost 42 weeks with their first, especially since the calculations are based off the start of your last menstrual cycle, and typically conceive 2 weeks after that. I went in for a 41-week stress test which is…

I'm 9 weeks pregnant, due March 15th - 1 month after our first turns 2! Excited to go through this again, but feeling more exhausted this go around than I remember being last time. Not as nauseous though, so I guess that's a good trade-off?

I saw a chiropractor with my first and it was a huge help with relieving lower back pain and a pinched nerve. The one I went to specializes in pregnancy and has tables with special modifications and pillows for pregnant women so I had no worries. He even offers packages to include being available to attend your delivery to…

I put them on a toasted bagel instead of cream cheese, or on a sandwhich in place of mayo :)

Pictures are worth a thousand words and speak louder than scales - awesome job, you look great! As for the weight gain, it's more than likely your body building muscle and the inches lost from the fat you're burning - great combo if you ask me :) Keep it up!!
