Ditto. We're more likely to underestimate our food and overestimate our exercise. Falling a little under gives a safety net for error.

I've heard blending cottage cheese gives it a thick, creamy texture like mayo, so maybe the cottage cheese suggestions would make a supercharged protein-filled tuna salad!

The hair is the tiny individual strands of feather fibers. The crust of a McNugget is not made of grain flour. It's pulverized feather stems. My stepdad worked for the processing plant. Why they are blue, maybe it occurs in some sort of cleaning process to get the feather stems ready? As for what's on the inside, I'm…

It's just me, too. I'm vegan and eat mostly raw, so freshness is important. I find myself going to the grocery store 2 or 3 times a week, but since I'm only getting a few days worth and never leave the produce department, it's usually not more than 10 minutes each time, so it doesn't require planning around like it used to…

Maybe a GF cold pasta salad with black olives, pimentos and italian dressing.

you're funny, girl. your diary says you put splenda in your coffee this morning. i guess today wasn't a sugar day. and way to go on your weight loss. you're almost there! :drinker: we need a thumbs up smiley on here ...

LOL. You can have my share! :D I hate milk chocolate with a passion. It's so gross.

There's nothing wrong, per se. Just make sure overall for the day you've eaten enough variety to pick up as many vitamins and minerals naturally as you can and take a daily supplement. I'm vegan, so veggies are always what's for lunch. And breakfast and dinner and snacks. :) I take a woman's daily vitamin, calcium and…

you mean the big portabella tops that are sometimes used for stuffing? what an interesting idea! i'm gonna research that and share it on the vegan group.

Sorry, I just saw your response about the doctor. :) Glad everything is OK!

It's very common when you make a rapid jump from processed and refined food diet to an all natural veggie and fruit diet to experience stomach cramps, bloating and abdominal pain. Doctors and nutritionists recommend a transition as your digestive track adjusts. Cramping usually begins around 4 days after a fast switch and…

Anything from the produce department.

I go through several pounds a week. We prefer baby portabellas, cremini and the standard white button. We tried oyster and ****take, but they are too fragile and best served in fancy dishes. We like the hearty, meatiness of the first three.

Yep. Eggs aren't even refrigerated in many European countries. They are kept in the pantry. Most recipes work better with room temperature eggs (according to Alton Brown!). But also, it helps them to age naturally and after a few days to a week, you can boil them and they peel like butter. No vinegar, salt, baking soda,…

I found this website that compares nutrition facts for up to 3 items. If these aren't the right 2, you can enter different names and see if what you're looking for comes up. Agave turns out to be highly nutritious. http://www.healthaliciousness.com/nutritionfacts/nutrition-comparison.php?o=35192&t=19335&h=&s=100&e=100&r=

False. I've never walked in on my parents having sex.

I eat a raw vegan diet, but it isn't 100%. When I first switched, I lost lots of weight very fast, but that's because it's VERY hard to eat 2000 calories of raw veggies. Fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds combined have every single nutrient you need, so it is possible to sustain on a raw vegan diet. Adding in ceviche and…

Sorry if someone posted this already. This thread is out of control! This cake is vegan and gluten-free. http://www.nourishingmeals.com/2009/02/gluten-free-vegan-sugar-free-chocolate.html

That one people keep insulting looks really yummy just as a regular meal. On substituting ingredients, replace flour with another flour. It's needed to react with the baking powder to rise. so switch from an all purpose to almond or some of the other gluten free options. Replacing oil in sweet recipes like muffins and…

It was during my second stint in the hospital in 6 months for health issues that something changed. I was done looking for shortcuts, magic pills, and endless excuses. I took off the electrodes from my chest, pulled the IV from my arm, and told the staff, "I'm going home now." That was 5 weeks ago. I started walking 4…

I've done the same thing. There is usually a group of 3 or 4 who can turn any post into their own name calling debate. One yells for scientific research, another posts it, a third says that study is a farce, the 4th brings childish sarcasm into the mix with how they "just love when idiots start spewing" and so on and so…

A slow cooker is a fabulous idea. Also, use www.supercook.com to find recipes for ingredients you already have. Just enter what you've got and the more stuff you enter, the more recipes will pop up and to give you a choice. I find that a whole lot easier than finding a recipe then going out to buy the stuff.

1 cup of cottage cheese and some fruit on top.

Honestly, I'm not too clear on what a GMO is other than to know what the acronym means. I only recently learned about MSG, and I'm not sure I see the big deal on that, either. It's moot to me. Regardless of either one, good or bad, consumers do have a right to know when their food has been genetically or chemically…

My doc wants me no more than 140 based on labs from the past. I'm 5'8". That weight is apparently when I am at my peak health assuming no change in muscle to fat ratio. Here's a chart with weight ranges that might help you. Don't be afraid to put a little more insulation on those bones. It's good for your health. :)

My body is organic, so is my food, and it's all fair game. Refined, processed, bleached, enriched, preserved and manipulated "foods" are not my idea of food, so excluding them is only logical to me, and I have never felt better.

My parents did it to me, and I think it was horrible. I grew up believing I was a bad person if I left any uneaten foods on my plate. I knew not to do it to my kids, but I couldn't get past the guilt my parents instilled in me, so I would finish their plates for them standing over the sink in the kitchen. My kids are older…

I don't know how to post images, so here is the link to a chart that can help you. Aha! I did it. OK, so here is the link to the DRS Health, Inc. website as well: http://www.drshealthinc.com/Healthy-Weight-Chart.asp
